Cyprus Allysum
Name: Cyprus Allysum
Age: 19 Sex: Male Species: Vulpes Velox (Swift Fox) Appearance: (It's a large picture, so I didn't want to inline it) I originally wanted to go for the actual colors of a swift fox, but the gray was too enticing to pass up. Personality: Very free and laid back, Cyprus has a tendency to try everything head on. He's usually not afraid to accept a challenge, but will try to think things through before doing something stupid. He also ignores anyones opinion unless they're close to him. The way he was raised, with his mother helping so many various people, he's very against discrimination, which will set him off, if taken far enough. Usually when he's mad, he'll hold it inside or make a quiet remark to the person to solve the problem calmly, but can get violent if someone pushes it. He appreciates people who he can have an intelligent conversation with. Inversely, he hates people who act intelligent but clearly aren't, which has gotten him into several arguments over the years. He also favors gifts considering he never does have much money, though he doesn't like accepting them because he always attempts to be polite. Family: Cyprus's father is named Marcus Allysum, he's a highly respected electronics engineer in Station Square, often called upon to help repair the trains that run through there. His mother, Evalin Allysum, is a specialist in wind therapy, which is a technique that uses wind to relax a persons nerves. Being that she's a therapist, she's usually pretty laid back herself, and where Cyprus got his attitude. Transport: Cyprus usually gets from place to place either on foot or by riding his life-long project, the Zephyrus. The Zephyrus is a type of glider that fits into a back-pack shape, is fairly light, and is only suitable for use in areas with high wind, but Cyprus has found a way around that to where he can even fly directly against the wind, using wind magic he'd been studying at various libraries across the globe [See biography]. The Zephyrus weighs approximately thirty pounds and can be worn like a backpack. The wingspan, when extended, is about 15 feet long from end to end. Max flying speed while drifting is approximately 70 miles per hour (110 Kilometers per hour), but given a boost, it can go much faster. Standard drifting speed is about 55 miles per hour (90 Kilometers per hour). It's made to fit one person, though two can fit if the pilot is careful. Considering Cyprus has been piloting it since he was five years old, he's very skilled with it and would be able to ferry a friend around without too much trouble. The only problems with carrying a second person are that it's not nearly as agile as if it where piloted by one person, and both hands are required to steer it, and as such, the standing position can't be used. Weapons: Technically anything can be a weapon if used with some common sense, but Cyprus is more of a hand-to-hand person if it ever really came down to physical combat. He took junior kick-boxing in school from six to thirteen and had to deal with the occasional thief trying to steal the Zephyrus. Also, along with learning how to control the wind, he has learned a few simple attacks he can use with it as well as being faster at moving short distances than most. [See moves for more information on this] Biography: Cyprus was born in a hospital in the East Wing district of Station Square. He grew up a fairly normal life until he was about 9. In school, he was in the Jr. Kick-boxing Club, though he wasn't very good at it, and he was really into learning about new things, thus spending a lot of time in the library and checking out the net. About 6, his mother started teaching him about wind magic, though it took 2 years for him to get good enough at it to be usable. The first spell he learned was to give a quick gust of wind in whatever direction he needed. It's basically the third skill in the Moves section, but at the time, he could only do 50 lbs of force. One day when he was about 8, his father came home with a mangled bunch of wires and pieces of what seemed like scrap metal. Together, him and his father pieced it back together into a glider. It took several months, but they finally got it functional. Once it was ridable, he practiced on it every day in his yard, his mother using weak wind spells to help him learn how to balance. Within months was riding it to school and back. His friends all got jealous because they were all riding bikes and getting rides from their parents >=3 By the time he turned 13, he was good enough with the glider to make flights between towns across the country. When the weekend came around, he would pack up a lunch that would last him for the weekend and took off to other towns to visit whatever events were being held. He would often stumble across cheap magic lessons being taught on the street, and would visit the libraries to read. Eventually he became friends with a few mechanics shop workers and they would bring him into the shops to watch them work. This continued for several years, until he finally graduated his senior year in high school. Finally his free spirit finally got ahold of him and he decided to go on a world-round trip. His parents knew he could take care of himself, so they gave him some cash to get him through and sent him off with hugs and a wave. Moves: -As noted, he's kind of a bookworm, so he isn't that strong, but he is very agile due to his control of the wind. For example, he can lay down 2 punches in a second, maybe 3 if done fast enough. Obviously though, punching that fast would wear him out pretty quickly. -He can also perform a short dash in any direction (Around 2 to 3 feet) very quickly. As with all moves, it'll wear him out quickly if used to much, But all it is pretty much is a small jump combined with the move below. The amount of effort needed for this skill puts reuse time around 5 or so. -He can create a small blast of air that'll knock back anything not bolted down (under 100 pounds or so) and can knock any unsuspecting bystanders to the ground. This skill's energy consumption depends on how much power is used. For example, on his glider, going at it's standard speed doesn't take much energy and can be used for several hours before needing a break. However, used as an attack, it wears him out pretty quickly, being used 3, maybe 4 times before he needs a break. -On the more passive side, he learned how to use wind therapy from his mother. Basically it's talking calmly while wrapping the person in a soft, warm (or cold if necessary) wind. Skills: Having had the chance to fly around the world, visiting different cultures and learn various kinds of things from the people he's met and the books he's read, he has a pretty good grasp on any general idea. However, he specializes in electronics and schematics, as well as having dappled with a little bit of mechanics. He also learned quite a bit about wind magic, as this seemed to fascinate him the most. Strengths: A quick learner, and also very studied in electronics, mechanics, and wind magic, Cyprus can help with any basic task without being clueless for long. Obviously at 19, he's not perfect with his skills, and they're a long way from mastered. He also has a very short reaction time, due to having flown his glider for over 10 years. Weaknesses: Though he did do some kickboxing, he isn't very built. About the most muscle intensive thing he does is fly his glider. Not saying he's weak, but I wouldn't really count him as a powerful fighter. Also, he's not that fast on foot, around average running speed. He'd lose at a foot race, which is why he typically uses his glider to get around. Also, here's a link to a theme song I chose for him. |
