(Anu) "Should we follow them, Your Highness?"
(Ji) "No. I don't think we can go that way without getting spotted. Although..."

The pharaoh's attention returned to the control booth. Figuring now was as good a chance as any, Ji kicked off and dove for the booth, building up speed to skewer the nearest guard inside with her royal crook. Anu didn't dare follow, and stayed in the rafters.

Before Gail could respond to Chadin's plan explanation, he heard the sound of smashing glass. Ji just dived straight through the control booth's glass, taking the standing SWATbot inside by surprise. Before it could react, the queen already had it knocked over and onto the floor. However, the crook didn't penetrate far into the metal and the bot was not out of commission yet. It reached upwards with its hand in an attempt to grab Ji round the neck.

By this point, the maintenance bot with the power cell reached the control booth. Upon seeing the scene that Ji was causing, a small red siren popped out of the top. It promptly made a very loud, annoying buzzing alarm sound as it started fleeing back down the stairs again.

"So much for bein' quiet, huh?" Gail said, shaking his head at what Ji did.

In the meantime, the other maintenance bots promptly did the same thing. Soon the entire hangar was full of the loud alarms from the little bots.

Gail promptly jumped out from behind the barrels and started shooting. Unlike the SWATbots, the little maintenance bots were not made for combat and went down rather easily with one shot each. The only challenge they presented was when they started zipping around the room like scared little mice, making them harder to target.

Espio was cautiously zipping from stacks of shipping crates to pillars and colums as he made his way for the hangar door, as Alpha and Whip booked their way to the hangar entrance in contrast, causing Espio to sigh as they passed him. Fortunatly it seemed their frenzied rush succeeded; Espio coming up to the hangar's entrance a few seconds behind them. He glanced back, his eyes locking onto a perculiar sight zipping right for the control booth. He swore silently as the reflection of shards of broken glass were displayed off his pupils, followed by the klaxons of one, then many repair bots.

He had to go, and fast. It was possible the hangar bay doors could get locked down, and he was a ways away from the door Chadin and Gail were beside. He simulated the outcome; if he stayed he could get locked in by himself in the hangar with a patrol of swatbots, and he would rather not put himself into harm's way pointlessly. And there was no telling what antics Whip could get involved it down there without guidance. He gave a nod Chadin's way, wishing them well as he zipped over the side of the building, grappling hook in hand as he makes his way to the streets below...

"Aw nuts!" I groaned as the bots began to blare out an alarm. So much for quiet indeed. If we didn't move fast this place would be swarming with Swat-bots. In fact the only way we to get the bots in here faster would be for them to have spotted Sonic the Hedgehog.

But I didn't have much time to dwell on that thought as I quickly followed Gail out into the maelstrom. I immediately fired on the one bot carrying the power cell. If nothing else, I could salvage that for ammunition. After that, I fired a couple more times, trying to take stock of just how many bots were even in here. If we're lucky, taking them all down might silence the alarms. Maybe they hadn't tripped a building wide alert, just a local? I could only hope to be so lucky.

(Well, with Espio, Whip and Alpha out of the topic, I guess it's just me, Gail, and Chadin, in that order. And why do I get the feeling I'm the one who made the big mistake this time?)

Ji couldn't pull out her crook very easily, so she left it stuck in the guard for the moment and jinxed back a bit so it couldn't reach her. Her hands went for her flail as her eyes scanned the guard's metallic armor for weak spots. She either ignored or failed to realize the fact that she'd broken through a sheet of glass on the way down, not to mention that she'd just triggered a massive alarm.

Anu stayed put, not wanting to get involved.

(...I can see everyone's posts now. I wonder what happened?)

(SWATbots are stupid and slow, but they're also pretty big and tough. That's why in the cartoon the freedom fighters avoid fighting them if they can. I don't think one solid impact from a much smaller, lighter Mobian would take out a SWATbot in one shot.)

"You are under arrest under the authority of Lord Robotnik..." the SWATbot mindlessly droned, as it got to its feet with Ji's weapon still stuck in its chest. It started to bring its blaster to bear too.

Meanwhile, Chadin's shot hit the maintenance bot with the power cell. It wasn't hard to hit, considering Ji had distracted it. The bot quickly fell over and tumbled down the stairs. It rolled all the way to the ground, with the power cell also falling down the steps and landing right next to the bot.

"Stop movin' around!" Gail loudly complained. He'd fired all six shots from his revolver, but only hit three bots. Thus, he was forced to stop and reload. However, one bot moved over a little too closely to Gail to avoid Chadin, and Gail gave a small grin as he simply stepped on it and crushed it underfoot. The alarm continued to wail until it simply puttered away pathetically.

By this time there were five of the little bots yet. No SWATbots had shown up...yet. Despite the loud little bots, it looked like a general alarm hadn't been sounded.

[Okay, can't seem to get the menu bars to cooperate to show the text in my usual green, but oh well.]

I couldn't help but wonder why we haven't been swarmed by Swat-bots by now. Then again, I wasn't about to complain. But Gail slammed one into oblivion with just a hard boot, I also wasn't about to go wasting my remaining few shots on maintenance bots either. I slung my crossbow as I went for the knife at my ankle.

"Hurry and take them out. Don't waste your ammo in case the heavies show up." I shouted as I charged at one of the closets bots and attempted to drive my blade straight through the top of it's 'head'.

(Defense beats agility, agility beats offense, offense beats defense. It makes sense now... and I'm stuck with an agility character against a defense one.)

"You don't have the authority to arrest me. I'm royalty."

Her weapon ready, Ji suddenly jinxed forwards and past the guard's legs, aiming her flail for its ankles so as to trip it forwards. Anu still didn't get involved.

"Hurry and take them out. Don't waste your ammo in case the heavies show up." Chadin's blade easily pierced through the cylindrical robot.

Meanwhile, Gail stomped on another one. Only a handful were left now.

"Speaking of which," the wolf said, as he rushed after another one. "Where are they?"

Loud, rhythmic clunking sounds resounded down the hallway, from the door leading into the room. Gail's ears twisted around to track the sound, before he turned his head back.

"Shouldn'ta said that..." he said, bringing his revolver up.

Five SWATbots rounded the corner, each of them bearing a larger than usual weapon. Three carried what looked like heavy laser rifles, while one had a bazooka type weapon and another held some other sort of tube-shaped launcher.

"Surrender, in the name of Lord Robotnik, or be destroyed," one of them droned, as they brought their weapons to bear.

"No thanks!" Gail grinned, immediately opening fire with his revolver. Three huge slugs quickly slammed into one of the SWATbots wielding a laser rifle. The huge robot stumbled backwards a bit from the force, before it toppled over.

However, the two others with rifles were quick to bring their weapons to bear as laser blasts quickly flashed across the repair bay. Meanwhile, the one with the rocket launcher targeted the booth that Ji was fighting in...

Speaking of Ji, her attack certainly knocked the robot off balance, as it collapsed to the floor in a heap. However, as it lay on the floor, it simply brought its arm blaster to bear and tried to hit Ji at point blank range.
