Chaos Within

[Echo]

The raptors dove for cover as they were suddenly subjected to a storm of gun fire. Lights appeared around the ships hull, appearing as though the ship had suddenly wrapped itself in the northern lights as its shields protected the ship from harm.

"we're taking fire, keep your heads down! I'm gonna spook him!" Era said working the ships nose around to face Rampage. She jammed the throttle forwards and charged Rampage, being sure that she tried to hit him with the full force of her engines jet blast as she made a high speed pass just a couple meters above his head. She pulled up into a steep climb, the sound of it's engines deafening as it rocketed itself skyward, no longer concerned with stealth. Windows rattled, the ground shook, its vibrations felt heavily in ones chest. Suddenly, just as it was clearing the roof tops of the taller buildings, it nosed over and reversed it's course, diving earthward for another pass.

The mysterious male raptor quickly retreated back down the hallway as Nail and Gail passed him, barely missing being cut to bits by the combots minigun. Hopefully the small hallway would be inaccessible to the large machine.

"Player 2, I have them. The game is reset, I say again the game is reset. call the ship, we're leaving."

The raptor burst through the exit door into the empty streets.

"Come on you two, we need to get away from here before that dumbbot figures out we're not in that building anymore. You guys are gonna be coming with us, we have a mission to accomplish and we require your aid Nail Strafer."

"copy that" the mysterious female said as she glanced down at the unconscious Amiroo laying at her feet. She tapped her claw to a watch like device on her right wrist and it began flashing. Meanwhile, a mile or so away in an abandoned warehouse with a newly made hole in its roof, a ship hummed to life and prepared for lift off.

[Nail Strafer]

Once Nail was about to reach the raptor, he simply took off at a full sprint, running for the open door. Then he felt as though someone had jammed a hot railroad spike in his leg. Crying out, he collapsed to the ground, just inside the exit door. The coilgun clattered to the floor. He immediately went for the wound on his lower leg, where one of Beta's blaster shots got him quite good. The wound still smoked from the shot.

What a time to get shot, just as he was about to escape. Gail rushed into the door after Nail, shocked at the wound in the fox's leg.

"Gail..." Nail realized he'd just used his father's name, when he wasn't supposed to mention that. Rolling his eyes, because he didn't care anymore, Nail continued. "You're gonna need to carry me. I can't outrun that bot like this. Get my rifle too."

[Gail Strafer]

I can't believe it. Something finally took the badass out!

For a little while there, Gail thought this fox was untouchable. Hard to believe here he was, sitting on the floor. Nonetheless, he quickly handed Nail his rifle back, and then lifted Nail up by the shoulder, half dragging him down the hallway. It wasn't that hard for Gail though, considering Gail was nearly twice Nail's size. They quickly reached the exit door.

Quote:"Come on you two, we need to get away from here before that dumbbot figures out we're not in that building anymore. You guys are gonna be coming with us, we have a mission to accomplish and we require your aid Nail Strafer."

Gail's eyes widened, as he looked down at Nail.

"Nail...Strafer?! What the hell?!" As he looked the fox in the eye though, it suddenly made sense. Of course! No wonder he thought they'd met before. "You...you're my brother? Cousin? What?"

Nail just stared blankly ahead, as they hurried after the raptor. He looked as though he was unsure about what he was going to say next.

"No...I'm your son."

Gail screeched to a halt, staring blankly back at the fox. It was all too much to take in. How the hell?

"But...you look about the same age as me..."

"The dimensional merge. I'm sure you saw it. I saw it. I'm from a dimension later in the timeline than yours, when you're my father."

Nail closed his eyes, gritting his teeth as the walking aggravated his wound.

"Hold on a second." He turned to talk to the raptor. "Listen. I know all the raptors from our base, but I've never seen you before. Your armor is different too. Who are you?"

[Sorry for the overlong dialogue, but Echo did kind of skip a little far ahead, I think. Oh well...I've been looking forward to this bit.]

[Giichi Twinkieland]

"AAAH!" Giichi dived to the ground, as the laser blasts flashed overhead.

I HATE guns! Hate them hate them hate them!

He was about to get up again, when suddenly Era whooshed overhead. He put his face to the pavement again, just in time to watch Era try to decapitate Major Cyborg Badger with the bottom of the ship.

[Jijeka-Te]

(From Swatpod Refueling Hangar again)

As Ji and Anu glided in from the hangar, they had to pull back to avoid the gunfire that was flying around. (Admittedly they weren't the best authorities on what gunfire was, but it doesn't take a genius to deduce that when small things are zipping around really quickly in straight paths, you don't want to get in their way.) They managed to land discreetly at the edge of the fighting, just outside one of the "shelters".

(Ji) "...what in Ra's name happened while we were gone? I see a bunch of people who weren't here before..."
(Anu) "Perhaps we should just stay out of their way."

[Let me put up a posting order here. I think one of the reasons we have slow posting in this topic is because there's usually confusion over who's turn it is.

[Alpha Omega]

As the cyborg began to back off, Omega began to run towards him, praying to anyone or thing that would listen to spare him from any of the nasty shots from his gun. However, when the ship began to roar so close over head, he threw himself flat, knowing that there really wasn't dodging anything like that, his best bet was just to minimize the damage it would do. He chanced a look up, desperately hoping the badger wasn't getting away with the Emerald shards he picked up earlier, but it was likely too late.

[Rampage]

Rampage defiantly stared down the raptor ship as it barreled headlong towards him. He raised the aim of his rifle, pouring the remaining shots of his MALR rifle into the ships shields. He ducked at the last second as the ship soared overhead, not out of fear of actually being struck, but simply to shield himself from the jet wash. Unsurprisingly, the blast of wicked hot air threw Rampage back, unintentionally putting even more distance between him, the raptors and Alpha.

As Rampage shook the disorientation out of his system, he vaguely took notice that the upper part of his uniform was on fire. With an unsettling degree of calm, Rampage tore his burning fabric from his body with his cybernetic arm's strength and calmly patted down what fur had been singed to extinguish it.

Checking his own rifle to see that it was in a forced recharge state, Rampage eyed the offending craft menacingly as it swooped around for another pass. "Okay, enough playing around. Beta, here boy!" He shouted angrily.

Back inside the building, Beta's red eyes flashed brightly as it received Rampage's command. "Acknowledged." It replied and charged forward through the remnants of the office building. It's massive girth and weight crushing desks and furniture in it's unrelenting path until the Com-bot smashed through the wall, bringing it back onto the same street Rampage occupied. The same street, Alpha and all th raptors also seemed to occupy. "Airborne target acquired, initiating attack." Beta reported as it raised it's huge mini-gun arm up into the sky and unleashed it's power on the rapidly approaching ship; completely ignoring all the soft targets on the ground at the moment.

[Echo]

Era quickly took evasive action as the ships shields suddenly flared to absorb the assault.

"I'm sorry guys, I can't risk the ship. I've got to pull back!" she said as she pulled the ship from its dive, quickly disappearing from view behind the cover of the surrounding buildings.

"Go on, get out of here. We'll call you back when we need yo...."

"By the stars, look!" Amero cut Rog off as he pointed to the skies. "It's a slipspace rupture. It's the ship!!!"

Rog turned his gaze to the spot Amero indicated, a look of horror on his face. He quickly turned to the others, his face having taken on a sudden urgency.

"Everyone cover your ears! GET BEHIND SOMETHING!"

The other raptors suddenly dove behind vehicles or anything else they could expediently find, bracing themselves for something that was likely lost on any Mobians in the area.

Above the city, the skies were indeed doing something very strange. the sky itself seemed to be rapidly drifting towards a focal point, as though the sky were a fabric and someone were pulling the sky in on itself. It stretched a warped until finally, it erupted. The sky suddenly tore open as a fabric stretched too far, a great light, almost unbearable to look upon, spilled from the newly formed rupture. An ear shattering thunderclap raced across the city, audible for tens of miles in all directions. Then, something began emerging from it, a ship unlike anything any Mobian had ever seen. It pushed from the illuminated rupture that danced across the sky like the northern lights until finally its entire length emerged from the tear. From bow to stern, it was 2200ft long, easily 40 stories from keel to mast. It's design was very organic, as though the ship had been grown rather than manufactured, yet sleek and metallic with no visible means of propulsion.

The mysterious female raptor paused as the light suddenly erupted from the skies. Her helmets visor darkening considerably to filter the intense light.

"Player 1, this is player 2, they're here. I say again, we're out of time, they're here! Get behind something!" she yelled as she quickly worked to pull Amiroo's unconscious form further into the building away from what was coming.

The male raptor had been about to answer Nail when the skies suddenly lit up from a light source somewhere out of line of sight on the far side of the building.

"I copy!" he quickly turned to Nail and Gail, "we need to get to cover, we just ran out of time!"

The raptor quickly grabbed Nail around his waist, under one of his arms to aid him to cover,

"Gail, help him, we have to get to cover now! Quickly, up against the wall, cover your ears!" he said gesturing the Mobians to the building they had just vacated.

The ship lingered near the tear a moment, before the long luminous rupture suddenly collapsed onto a single point and with an even more terrifying thunderclap than when it was created, it vanished behind the ship, a shock wave visibly raced out away from the epicenter. The clouds above recoiled away and evaporated in the path of the wave of energy as it raced across the landscape and into the heavens. Instantly it began raining glass as every window in buildings, cars, street lamps, etc shattered from the force as the wave raced by. Buildings visibly shook and swayed as their foundations absorbed the energy from the wave.

"Ship elder, jump has been completed successfully. Hull integrity at 100% shield integrity 100%, all systems functioning within tolerances." a pale blue raptor with gold eyes said at the holographic controls of what appeared to be the flight deck of a large star ship. In it, were a dozen or so others looking over controls and systems of various kinds, or simply looking on at the holographic display of the city before them.

"Excellent, inform our forces to begin their operation immediately. I want this settlement before their star dips below the horizon. We must be ready when the fleet arrives." a slim bright orange raptor standing just behind him said, this was apparently what Mobians would call the captain. His eyes were a pale green, a seasoned glint to them, clearly someone who had seen quite a bit of conflict.

"When you capture those Republic scum, you are to bring them to me, alive. I want that understood amongst our troops."

"understood elder, our forces have been briefed on the sensitivity of this mission."

"I certainly hope that it is the case. Needless to say, all of our lives depend on this mission. This mission will determine the entire outcome of the war, turn the tide as it were. We cannot afford yet another set back here."

"By the peoples might, it will be done, elder"

[Nail Strafer]

Nail had lots of questions for the raptor, but then they got cut off by something that came over this mystery raptor's radio. Suddenly he found himself grabbed round the waist by this strange raptor and hauled off before he could say anything.

"Oh! OH! OW! Slow down! That really hurts!" With every step the raptor took his wounded leg kept getting bumped around, back into the raptor's thigh area. Sure didn't help that it was a fresh wound.

Once they were settled back inside the building, Nail glanced out the window. He saw the sky being torn asunder as if by an unseen hand.

"What fresh hell is this?"

Then the thunderclap followed up, assaulting Nail's ear drums like someone was drumming on them directly. He howled out in pain as he pressed his pointed ears downwards, flat against his skull. Then the thunderclap died down, so he thought it was safe again, but then yet another boom followed. This time he just softly whimpered in pain on the floor. Looking up again, he spied a massive star ship.

"I hope that's not what I think it is. Are those the bad dinosaurs Amiroo was talking about?"
