Chaos Within

[Chadin]

I eagerly accepted the satchel from Gail. I turned back towards the fight and squeezed off a couple rounds with my crossbow into a couple of the smaller blobs down below us. I didn't even give Gail a second look until he spoke up, his voice rapidly losing the same enthusiasm I'd heard from him before.

I turned back around, and my own fur seemed to pale at the sight of so much blood staining his clothes and fur. I set my crossbow down as I leaned over him, putting my hand on his shoulder to lend him at least some comfort. "Hey, don't worry Gail. You'll get out of here in one piece. I promise."

I turned my gaze to Anu. "Anu, try and get him back to the hangar we came here in. Keep him safe."

[Jijeka-Te]

Ji was already in the air again. She circled around both of the new beasts in a figure-eight, hoping to keep them distracted while those with better firepower did the damage. Just in case, though, she had her royal crook ready.

Anu nodded in confirmation, and managed to pick Gail up and start carrying him.

[Chadin]

[Okay, enough waiting]

Soon, the two halves of the creature became fully developed. One of the two, turned it's attention on Mogul, while the second one with wings glared angrily at Espio. These smaller forms also appeared to be slightly more agile than the single, full-sized one, as apparent as the winged one took to the air and raced after Espio at a considerably fast speed at low altitude.

The other, ground based one, turned and charged Mogul, trying to ram him with his car-sized head.

Meanwhile, Jii's attempt to distract them worked our far better than she expected as one of the blobs elongated itself to reach up and try and ensnare her legs and hurl her to the ground.

Alpha meanwhile, would find himself surrounded by about half-a-dozen of the blobs.

Mogul brought up his barrier in the nick of time, but as before, he didn't feel like he could maintain his barrier for long, even though the creature was considerably smaller this time.

Meanwhile, from up on fire escape above, I was firing down on the smaller blobs that were making their way back to the creature. Given their current size, it didn't seem like it took much more than one or two solid hits to cause them to burst into a black mist and dissipate.

[Jijeka-Te]

Spotting the grab attempt, Ji reversed direction just in time, allowing the thing to grab the empty air. Then she continued her acrobatics.

(Skipping with Anu because Gail skipped, and Chadin didn't do anything worth interacting with.)

Espio's look of triumph as that shuriken exploded dead center soon became one of confusion, then shock as the creature split directly into two! He swears under his breath as one of them attacked, choosing a somewhat risky plan of attack. Drawing a bomb shuriken from his leg , he leaps backwards onto the ground as the creature drew near. He let's it fly, intending for th creature to fly overhead, and then meet a rather..explosive fate. He does look a bit concerned before the attack even happens; he had one explosive left in his other leg bracer, before he would have to stop and load his reserve.

[Alpha Omega]

Omega stopped in his tracks, and looked around at the bloblets surrounding him. He made a quick count of them, and slowly slid a ring from his finger, enlarging it enough to loop his hand through it, like when Espio bound the two rings together to get here earlier. He drew his fist back, and turned his body quickly to face one of the little blobs, before throwing a punch at seemingly nothing, before mentally pushing the ring forward, coating his hand and the ring in a streak of silver energy. His punch, combined with propelling the ring, launched him at a blob, at a considerable rate. He closed his eyes before impact, and hoped that his speed and mass would splatter the blob around, and break the circle.

[Gail Strafer]

As the winged beast flew past Espio, it appeared to remember what the chameleon had done to it earlier with the bomb shuriken. It pulled a barrel roll off to the left, narrowly avoiding the incoming projectile. The creature swooped up and away into the dark clouds and smog. With its black form, it quickly became almost impossible to spot. While it didn't swoop back down, it would be hard to see coming once it decided to attack again.

Alpha's attack allowed him to break through the circle, blasting one of the blobs into dust. However, if he looked back, he'd see the five smaller blobs rolling themselves together.

As Jii dodged the elongated arms of the smaller blobs, this appeared to agitate them. They shook violently, looking frustrated as they couldn't get her. However, one of them noticed that Jii was looking away from it. The blob flattened itself to the ground, before it used its elasticity to spring into the air as if launched from a slingshot. It aimed to hit the back of her head where she could not see, as she was paying attention to the ones attempting to grab her.

Chadin's fire swiftly eliminated more of the blobs on the ground.

Meanwhile, Espio's stray bomb shuriken pinwheeled through the air, sticking into the leg of the ground-based form. Boom went the weapon, as the creature's leg splattered itself across the pavement into smaller blobs. The ground creature roared in frustration, as it collapsed to the ground from not having four legs to stand on. This would give Mammoth a brief reprieve.

By this point, the group as a whole had destroyed about a third of the creature's whole body mass. However, having the shards concentrated in the two smaller forms appeared to allow their energy to be better focused. The leg was already healing on the ground beast's form, much faster compared to when the singular beast had formed.

"Anu...Anu..." Gail croaked. "Wha's happening...? Can you tell me wha's happenin'?"

It looked like it was hard for Gail to speak, with the blood loss and general weakness making his large mouth tremble. He blinked his eyes a few times, but the whole world faded in and out of blackness as he tried to stay conscious.

[Mammoth Mogul]

Sensing a dual opportunity, Mogul lashed out once more against the creature with his chaos slash aimed once more for it's head. But not in the interest of defeating the creature, no. He hoped that in its weakened state he might be able to replicate the same feat as he performed on his newly recruited gold-snatching lackey's. But instead of cybernetic tracking devices, Mogul hoped to use his powers of levitation to literally pull a chaos shard out of the creatures amorphous mass. Of course, doing so left Mogul highly vulnerable, but well worth the risk if successful.

[Chadin]

From my perch up high on the escape ladder, I could see most of what was going on. While the disappearance of the winged thing made me nervous, I couldn't worry about that thing until it reared it's ugly black head again. So, I decided to be a bit more proactive and focus on what I could do. Speaking of which, I noticed that Alpha was presently dealing with a whole gaggle of the gooey black blobs. He seemed to be able to fight, I'll give them that, but I figured he could use all the help he could get.

I aimed my crossbow for the one closest to Alpha and fired for the centre of mass... er... blob?

[Jijeka-Te]

(Anu) "We've got things under control, Gail. Just relax and try not to overexert yourself."

(Ji) "HEY!"

The blob got Ji directly, knocking her out of the air. She flipped over, attempting to use whatever had just stuck to her as a landing pad.
