RE: Run for the Border: Nail Strafer VS Gravitos
[Too lazy to change accounts.]

The bolt hit the tree instead of Nail. Suddenly, all of the leaves over their heads drooped downwards. Those with weaker connections to the tree broke off and started falling down. If this were a movie, the display would look rather dazzling with two warriors locked into combat amidst the falling leaves. Regardless, Nail didn't let that break his pace.

Now with his target at close range, the hybrid readjusted his grip on the rifle to properly use the bayonet. Instead of holding it like he wanted to shoot it, Nail now held it as if it were a short spear. While Nail was probably a weaker melee combatant than Gravitos, he also had an edge in range with his weapon.

After the missed gravity bolt, Gravitos would meet the business end of Nail's bayonet if he didn't move fast. The hybrid jabbed it at him with a speedy, quick jab before backing off again. As usual, he stayed near the tree so that Gravitos couldn't back off and get a clear gravity punch in.

RE: Run for the Border: Nail Strafer VS Gravitos
Gravitos stepped to the side to barely avoid the bayonet. Doing so cuased him to stumble over breifly. He cursed at himself for his lack of balance, but with his gravity constantly shifting, it was a price to pay. Thankfully, Nail backed off, giving the hedgehog the time he needed to regain his footing. His hands took on the red glow as he gave Nail a glare. It seems he would try and attempt the same tactic if Gravitos attempted to close the gap again.

He had a different approach that was potentially hazerdous to both fighters. He applied two quick jabs to the tree Nail was hiding behind, cuasing it triple in weight for 5 seconds.

[Gravity Spear usage] 1/4: Next reset in 3 turns.

Gravitos has the power to increase, decrease, restore and shift gravity.

RE: Run for the Border: Nail Strafer VS Gravitos
Nail ducked behind the tree as Gravitos came in for another set of punches...but oddly this time he got the feeling the punches were aimed at the tree deliberately. After the fists impacted, the tree emanated a loud groaning sound. The very ground beneath their feet caved inwards, as it could no longer support the tree's weight. Nail couldn't help but let his jaw drop open in amazement as he watched what happened.

Entire branches began falling off of it now along with a heavy blanket of leaves. And it wasn't just little branches falling. It was also huge, long limbs from high up crashing down around the two of them. Nail held up his rifle to intercept falling branches, as he backed off away from the collapsing tree. Wood fell all around him as he backpedaled to escaped the onslaught.

One of them nearly took him out as it clanged off of his rifle, pushing him backwards and onto his back. He continued to crawl and scramble to get out of the way.

RE: Run for the Border: Nail Strafer VS Gravitos
Gravitks did not expect such chaos in this attack. He had never attempted to use his powers on a tree before. As branches came raining down, the hesgehog stretched his arms out to the sides. A faitly sized branched had snapped of and was careening towards him as he preformed this. Upin reaching a close distance, the branch stopped and was trapped in the air with smaller branches following the same path. This lasted for only 2 swconds, right before the tree's weight restored to normal. All branches dropped harmlessly to the ground. Gravitos was now feeling the effects of using his kinetic abilities too much. He remained still to catch his breath, his hands resteing on his knees as he hunched over slightly.

RE: Run for the Border: Nail Strafer VS Gravitos
Nail, meanwhile, had a branch konk him on the head as he crawled away. Groaning from the pain, he rubbed his head as he scrambled to his feet and took off running through the brush again. As he pushed past one more set of bushes, he could just make out the border fence in the distance through the trees. However, it was difficult to see since the knock on his head had disoriented him slightly. But the sight of the chainlinks filled him with fresh vigor. If he ran just a hundred yards more, he'd be home free.

As part of the contract, the client had discreetly snipped holes in the wire mesh in one place along this part of the border fence for Nail to slip through. He'd marked with a small red rose planted nearby. Nail couldn't see the speck of red from here, but it had to be close by. The GPS he'd been using in the car had shown he was near the right coordinates.

The hybrid resumed running as he dashed through the trees towards his goal. However, Nail may not have realized what all the head hit had done. He kind of veered left and right as he ran, instead of in a straight line. This implied his balance might be slightly off for the moment.

RE: Run for the Border: Nail Strafer VS Gravitos
Gravitos watched the hybrid dash off as he still attempted to catch his breath. Nail was startong to be a real pain right now and Gravitos' patience was growing thin. Given the consequences of failure, he had no choice but to pursue. Without wasting too much time, the hhedgehog ran after him. His sights were barely on his foe, only catching breif glimpses of his ankles as he slipped through bushes.

Then he saw it; the border that lay within the teees. If Nail had reached that, it'd be all over for the hedgehog. Nail wasn't too far ahead. Gravitos just needed a bit more time to make one last attempt to stop him. With his still winded breathing, he dashed after the fleeing half-wolf.

It's a good thing all hedgehogs aren't as fast as Sonic...or this would have been over in an instant.

Despite still being dizzy from that knock on his head and losing his breath, Nail ran like hell for the fence. You'd think he could try out as a quarterback for an all-star football team with how hard he ran. Unfortunately, he was also experiencing tunnel vision with his pure focus on getting to that fence. So the hybrid didn't see a particularly large tree root in front of him, and Nail stumbled right over it. He crashed into a bed of leaves on the forest floor.

The hybrid scrambled through the leaves to get to his feet, but it would definitely give Gravitos enough time to catch up. Nail figured that was about to happen, so he grabbed a wad of leaves in his hands before he turned around to face the incoming hedgehog.
