Run for the Border: Nail Strafer VS Gravitos

RE: Run for the Border: Nail Strafer VS Gravitos
Nail let out a saddened sigh and seemed to look upon his opponent with pity.

"You catch me alive, I get executed. I have nothing to lose in this fight, but you have everything to lose my friend. Think about that..."

In contrast to Gravitos' snapping tone, Nail sounded as if he were a parent trying to talk his son out of a bad decision. The hybrid actually saw a little bit of his old self in this guy. When he was younger he thought doing this stuff was fun, but now he wished he could settle down and live a normal life. But that would be impossible with all of the enemies he had made over the years. He honestly didn't want to kill Gravitos if he didn't have to. There was no need for him to die as long as he didn't get in Nail's way. And he wanted the kid to try finding another way of life too.

"You get one more chance to walk away."

Nail suddenly released the rifle, letting it hang off of him by the shoulder strap. In an instant, his hand was on the stun grenades clipped to his belt, the pin was pulled, and the round cylinder hurled straight at Gravitos. A second later, the grenade would explode with a loud bang and bright flash, while pelting the area with small rubber balls. While tiny and made of rubber, the blast would hurl the balls with such force they'd hit with the force of rocks from slings.

The effect on Gravitos would depend on how close he would be to it when it exploded. If he was right next to it, he'd be deafened, blinded, and too sore to move for at least several seconds. If farther away, the effects would be similar but to a much lesser degree and they'd last a shorter time.

Meanwhile, Nail immediately turned and ran as soon as he'd thrown the grenade, crashing through the bushes as fast as he could to get some distance on his pursuer.

RE: Run for the Border: Nail Strafer VS Gravitos
"As if I care what happens to you. As long as I get the damned warrents for my arrest cleard, what happens to you does not effect me." He repied. Nail's words only brought little thought upon him. Gravitos was born a fighter. It's all he knows how to live. Every day he fights for his life in one way or another. This hybrid was only getting on his nerves. Why he was attempting to talk tbe hedgehog out of this fight remained a mystery.

He had no time to react to his words of escaping. He could barely blink before he was suddenly blinded and deafened. His hindered vision cuaght sigh of a gray blur fleeing the scene. After reganing his senses several seconds later, Gravitos pursued his target. Obviously he cared less for what Nail had to say.

RE: Run for the Border: Nail Strafer VS Gravitos
[If you're wondering why it takes me a while to post in this roleplay, it's because Nail tends to be hard to write interesting battles for. Guns just don't give you a lot of wiggle room since it's usually one shot and you're done. I'm sure you don't want the fight to end with one lucky shot, right? Don't blame you at all.

Regardless, I'll press on. I had an interesting idea for this post, but I'm afraid of it looking a little too much like godding. Let me know what you think of this, because I definitely think this is a tactic Nail would use.]

Nail crashed through the brush ahead of Gravitos, as he tried to put some distance on the guy. However, the hybrid got the sinking feeling that he really was going to have to kill him to escape. Gravitos certaily didn't seem inclined to give up. In fact, it looked like he was in the same boat as Nail. The half wolf actually couldn't help but spare a chuckle at that though. The loser of this fight was going to go to jail if he didn't die. Real funny coincidence, that. Funny as it was, it wouldn't be so funny anymore if he lost. He needed to shake this guy off or take him out.

---

Behind Nail, Gravitos wouldn't have a clear look at his target since the brush was in the way. However, he'd hear the sound of something big and heavy crashing down a hillside, stirring up loose gravel and shaking plants wherever it went. Then it would stop with one final crash as something bashed through another bush.

After breaking through the final set of bushes, Gravitos would see that Nail appeared to have vanished. However, he would also see the ground suddenly dropped off here. The grade was steep but you could slide down it, and that's what appeared to have happened. A visible trail of disturbed dirt and pebbles, plus smashed tree branches, could be seen leading all the way down the hill to a dense clump of bushes at the very bottom.

All was silent around Gravitos for the moment, indicating that Nail was probably hiding somewhere close by. If he were still moving Gravitos would still hear noise from him moving around. However, it didn't look clear as to where he was.

[Basically, you need to guess where Nail is and try to find him. Did he go down the hill into the bushes or is he still hiding in the brush somewhere at the top of the hill? He won't be more than a few seconds away from you in either case.]

RE: Run for the Border: Nail Strafer VS Gravitos
( It's completely understandable. It is definitely different and I rather enjoy it. I'd prefer if this thing lasts a bit longer hehe. It appears Nail doesn't even wish to kill Gravitos, so naturally, he would find other means of escaping. Now, let's see how the hedgehog reacts to this Tongue )

Gravitos had lost sight of his target, but he knew he was still hot on his trail. This hybrid seemed determined to escape and the Gyromancer was somewhat thankful he didn't get gunned down. With the determination for victory and reluctance to kill, Nail almost appeared as an older version of him. With that in mind, Gravitos would possibly reconsider his words if he were still alive after this.

The sound of something crashing down a hillside caught his ears. As he approached that hillside, he thought deeply before just simply running down there. His target wouldn't just run down there. He would make it seem like so. The trail created from the object barreling down it made it seem the hybrid was down there. However, Gravitos decided to search the surrounding area. He was never much of a tracker, but he's seen stuff on television about hunting in the wild. The hedgehog began to search the vicinity for any footprints or broken twigs all the while keeping part of his attention down the hill. He kept his ears up as well and any sound other than his near silent feet he would instantly pick up and act on. His markings took on the red color yet again and he was prepared to unleash his Gravity Spears on anything that moved. Thankfully, focusing wasn't required to keep his markings in that state. Only if he launched one would he lose concentration.

RE: Run for the Border: Nail Strafer VS Gravitos
[How about some theme music? =D

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wt0axCYZ9WA]

Behind some bushes about 30 feet away, Nail crouched down, being careful to keep Gravitos in his iron sights without letting his bayonet or his barrel poke through the leaves. His eyes traced the hedgehog as he moved in and out of sight behind the leaves. Annoying, but he needed to keep a low profile.

He silently urged the hedgehog to jump down the hill, but alas it wasn't the case. Now he'd started checking around the top of the hill instead.

He's not buying it...

Nail had seen a large rock sitting pecariously on the edge of the hill, and decided to kick it over the edge. The noise would give a distraction for him to run and hide. Alas, Gravitos wasn't taking the bait, so they'd have to do this the hard way. He'd also need to be more careful this time. Even without visible weapons, he could attack at a bit of a distance like Nail. The hybrid noticed the glowing markings on the hedgehog through his sights, and figured that meant he was ready to fire another of those bolts.

Nail would wait for Gravitos to turn his back and then try to clip the hedgehog on the shoulder. He would make two gentle taps, with a small beat after the first shot to steady the gun for the second. However, if Gravitos spotted Nail before he could take the shot, he would go for the shoulder regardless. It would be a non-lethal wound, and surely the soldiers from the checkpoint would find the hedgehog before he bled out.

In any case, he wouldn't stay there to wait for the result of the sholts. He would quickly stand up and jump behind a tree after the two shots, so that the bolt couldn't hit him cleanly.

RE: Run for the Border: Nail Strafer VS Gravitos
[/b]Gravitos had grown rather tedious about this game of hide-and-seek. Stealth was never his strong suit and he knew Nail was watching him from somewhere, which annoyed him more He couldn't aford to lose the hybrid given the consequences if he failed this task. His body shivered at the very thought of it.

Just then, his ears picked up two loud noises and he felt a deep burning pain in his left shoulder. One of Nail's bullets had grazed him, but still crippled him at the moment. His arm had grown weak and took on an eerie crimson color from the blood, his markings restored to normal. Gravitos remained level-headed and crouched on one knee and began to dig through his pockets with his uninjured arm. Ocassionally, the hedgehog needed to cover his markings to prevent sucspision. To do so, he always carried a black headband and a pair of plain black gloves. Heistant at first to bring them, he was thankful at the moment. He grasped the headband and by qrapping it up with his hand, and tightening it with his teeth, a decent knot was around his shoulder wound in an effort to stop the bleeding. He sighed deeply in releif and ignored the pain.

"This game of cat and mouse is rather amusing after a while, wouldn't ou say!" he pointed out sarcastically, his voice level was high considering he didn't know the distance. He was aware he could be possibly talking to himself at the moment. He was too preoccupied patching himself up to hear any noise. Regardless, he listened out just in case.

RE: Run for the Border: Nail Strafer VS Gravitos
[Funny, I thought for sure Gravitos would be able to locate where Nail is after that post. He's only about 30 feet away and that gun would be pretty loud, not to mention the direction you got hit from would give away his position too.]

It's a mistake for a sniper to reveal his location...

Nail thought, in response to Gravitos shouting out his taunt. He wasn't going to give away where he was hiding by answering. As he peeked out from behind the tree, he saw that Gravitos had been wounded and appeared to be treating the injury.

Good, now he'll have to slow down.

It would be a great opportunity to slip away. The hybrid briefly let his M14 rifle hang off of him by its shoulder strap again. As quietly as he could, Nail reloaded his pistol and then holstered it again, making sure to catch the ejected clip in his hand rather than let it fall to the ground.

With the reload done, he would wait for Gravitos to turn away, and then throw the empty clip underhanded at a nearby clump of bushes to grab his attention.

RE: Run for the Border: Nail Strafer VS Gravitos
(True, altough this is not Gravitos' strong suit. If this was say, Terrador Nail was facing, than there would be plenty of surprises the Geomancer would have for the hybrid. Also, Gravitos did hear it, but who would have a good enough reaction time to avoid a friggin bullet LoL)

Gravitos applied pressure to his wounded shoulder as he spun it aroun windmill-style. Luckily the bullet simply grazed him. Sure his shoulder hurt, but it wouldn't stop him from acheiving victory. Things grew dead silent and he fugured he was alone. Suddenly, a very small clicking noise. It was miniscule and he almost assumed he was hearing things. But at this moment, anything would do.

"Aha. So that's where you are." he thought to himself. There was to be no more sneaking around. Gravitos would confront Nail head-on, even run the risk of getting shot again. His hands were bathed in a crimson glow, his markings taking on the usual plus-sign shape. He would charge to where he heard the noise either expecting Nail, or nothing. Nevertheless, he readied himself for the hybrid just in case.

With his hands glowing red, Gravitos would try and get a punch or two on the wolf. Each punch would make the fugitive that many times heavier. If Nail were to attempt to run, Gravitos would easily luanch his Gravit Spears.

RE: Run for the Border: Nail Strafer VS Gravitos
[Hmm...your post doesn't make it too clear if he's chasing the sound from the clip or if he's after Nail himself. I'm going to assume the latter.]

Oh crap, here he comes!

Seeing his position had been exposed, Nail stood up behind his tree trunk. He needed a better visual on target, plus it would make it easy to maneuver since this was about to become close quarters. As he brought his rifle up, he noticed the hedgehog had those glowing fists again. Not wanting to be tagged, he pulled the trigger on the M14 three times in a steady but quick tap-tap-tap pattern.

And now the hedgehog was right on him. Nail didn't want to even attempt to block one of Gravitos' punches, considering he knew he would get hit by that heavy effect again. However, since he had a solid tree trunk between himself and Gravitos, he could use that to keep the hedgehog from getting a solid punch in. The hedgehog couldn't just come in swinging or he'd hit the tree instead of Nail. He'd need to slow down and aim the punch. As a bonus it would block a projectile attack like the first one.

Most people were right-handed, so Nail decided to stand behind the left side of the trunk (from Gravitos' perspective). Then as Gravitos would close in, he would suddenly jump to the right to ruin the hedgehog's shot. All the time he'd try to keep the tree between them.

RE: Run for the Border: Nail Strafer VS Gravitos
(That was for you to decide. Gravitos did head fpr the noise. It was up to you if it was Nail. Wouldn't be fair if I said Nail was there lol.)

Gravitos droppdd to the ground as the three gun shots came his way. The tree trunk Nail was hiding behind would make things difficult and the hybrid would be able to easily get a shot in from his position. Gravitos pondered breifly on how to go about this. Failing to come to a conclusion, the Gyromancer got to his feet amd charged towards the hybrid.

Nail's tactics would prove to be useless considering Gravitos was ambidextorous. His target was in his sights and he was approaching quick. He sent out a.mighty left jab, only to have the wolf avoid it with his leap to the side. While turning his body, Gravitos luanched a red spear at his foe. Since the two were a fair distance away, the chances of the spear connecting was low. Tbe trunk would also provide cover for Nail as well.

[Gravity Spear usage] 3/4: Next reset in 3 turns.

Gravitos has the power to increase, decrease, restore and shift gravity.
