Deus Ex: Hum△n Revolution
A friend of mine pre-ordered the latest Deus Ex game, asked if I wanted to come over when he got it so we could check it out. We've been playing it for two days straight and I gotta say, I am not disappointed.

You play as Adam Jensen, the head of security at Sarif Industries, which is a top competitor in the new world market for human augmentations. Jensen's not too fond of his company's work, believing it's only going to be used to make super soldiers, but when a mysterious group of mercenaries attack the company, him and many other employees are killed. However, his boss orders him brought back to life using the latest augmentations his company has, and Jensen has to contend with being an "aug" against his will in a world torn between purists and transhumanists. It's up to him to find out who the mercenaries were and uncover one huge conspiracy after another.

The gameplay is interesting because you have various augmentations you can get that allow you different play styles, and the game's designed around that such that almost every objective has multiple ways to obtain it. For example, early on in the game, you're tasked with getting into a police station and getting information from a computer. You're given several ways to do so:
1) Talk to the man at the front desk. It appears he was an old friend from when you were in SWAT who blames you for a mistake he made. If you say the right things, he'll give you the go ahead to enter the station
2) Players who've focused on stealth can instead opt to enter through the sewers. There's a door in the sewers that is guarded by several laser grids that set off alarms, but there are several augments that assist in getting past them.
3) Players who focus on platforming can jump to a fire escape on the side of the building and climb up to the top, where a duct will allow you easy access into the station.
4) Hidden in the lobby is a door you can hack out of sight of those around you, but only if you have upgraded your hacking skills
etc.

I was worried the game wouldn't be as good as it's predecessors, but thankfully that worry was moot. My only disappointment so far is that the boss fights are scripted and can be difficult for people who don't have any points invested in fighting. However, there are tricks to beat them even so, so that can be forgiven.

If you have the chance, I'd definitely recommend this game to anyone who likes RPGs and/or FPSs.
