Doctor Finitevus
Alright - as expected, and after much bickering and persuasion and changing of points - Finitevus v.3.2. I think we may just be getting there...
Name: Doctor Finitevus * Age: 35. In appearance he could be as young as 23 or as old as 40. * Sex: Male * Species: Echidna * Appearance: An albino echidna with black lines in his spines and a Guardian mark in black and white on his chest. His eyes are yellow on black, rimmed with red and believed to be completely natural - he wears glasses. Also has a yellow spiralled diamond on his forehead and although this is not likely to be something he was born with it is almost certainly permenant now. His arms and legs appear to be cybernetic, or at least heavily mechanically enhanced, from the knee/elbow down, with grey metal hands and feet and black calves and forearms ringed with what seem to be power rings, or something similar - three on each arm and four on each leg. He wears a black cloak with a black and white horizontally striped lining and a crescent moon clasp, and a similar clasp on his belt. * Personality: An evil scientist of an entirely different kind to Robotnik - possibly much, much worse. Finitevus is not mad in the classically understood sense. He is scarily sane - logical, clear-thinking and cold as ice. He is not a robot and doesn't act like one - his anger is terrifying, even more so because it rarely makes him lose control. His desires and personal greavances are held close to his chest, apart from the icy cynicism and the desire for power. His intellect is formidable and he regards most people as primitive fools, who should either get, or be got, out of his way. He also has a deep contempt for all non-echidnas - this means that the number of people worthy of his time is very small indeed. There is a rumour that he once fell in love. With Finitevus as he is now it's unlikely - the walls in his mind are high and strong and it would take a cunning and determined woman to even get close - but it may partly explain how he is now. It is unlikely that he is lonely. If he ever was, he has probably given up on finding someone who will ever truly understand him, and anyway, there is almost certainly nobody on Earth who he trusts. * Family: An only child of leading scientists Brimstone and Corelle-La. * Transport: He has a mechanical stilt walker which can retract its legs to go across water but can't actually fly. He built it himself and likes its grace of movement. As far as sea-worthiness goes, the farthest it could go would probably be across the English Channel, and even then it would start running out of energy about halfway and he'd have to paddle it the last mile or so. It's a land transport with emergency water capabilities, really. * Weapons: Ah, the fun part. Finitevus has, as has been stated, cybernetic hands and feet. He can fire powerful pulses of electricity through his hands, or give a massive shock with a kick or a punch - his limbs are electrically charged. There is of course a limit to how much energy he can carry in his body - there are four rings on each limb, each of them holds about a thousand volts. With this power, he can run his stilt walker - with all rings combined it would run for about one hour forty-five minutes - although in reality it usually runs off the generator in the belly of the machine - short-circuit or at least seriously damage electrical systems, and power some things for the time it takes for the energy stored in his limbs to run out. How long that takes will depend on the thing he's trying to power - a table lamp would have no effect but trying to run a power station would be a futile effort and leave him utterly powerless within minutes. And when that happens, he needs to charge up again - from his normal power source at his lab, that would take about twenty minutes per ring, starting from the wrist or ankle and working towards the body. If he was struck by lightning it would probably either partly recharge him or cause his limbs to short-circuit - in which case they would be hard and heavy, and he wouldn't be able to move his hands and feet. (I was asked to specify what power source - I haven't the foggiest. I suppose he built a charger, like the thing you power your iPod from only bigger. And I'm not sure what a circuit breaker is but I expect he can get power from those, too.) * Biography: Finitevus was born an only child to leading echidna scientists in the area around Mystic Ruins. His appearance startled everyone, and he grew up an isolated child. His parents taught him that happiness didn't depend on the approval of others, and he turned to science and machinery as comfort - soon he was being hailed as a prodigy. When he was sixteen, he went to the Emerald Tor University of Science and Technology, where he met Kiara-Si, known as Crimson, an echidna girl frustrated by the refusal of the university faculty to allow her to try her ideas. Finitevus befriended her, intrigued by her talk of cybernetics and power rings, and they made many great inventions together, and then they fell in love. But then Finitevus had his own cybernetic limbs fitted - designed by himself and fitted by Crimson - and unexpected problems began to develop. First he began to get migraines and insomnia, then he started sleepwalking, complaining of an inability to think straight and seeing hallucinations. When he started to get seizures it was clear to Crimson what was wrong - the rings couldn't contain all the power and the electricity was affecting his brain. Together they designed a mental channeller plate and fitted it in the centre of his forehead, and the problems stopped. Everything was alright for a while, and then Crimson started to notice a change in Finitevus. With the channeller, his thoughts simply got clearer and clearer, his moods colder and colder till he seemed to care for nothing but his work. Nothing Crimson or his parents could do or say would make any difference and one day he vanished, never to be seen by any of them again. He had gone into the caves under the Mystic Ruins, where he spent the next few years setting up a lab and technological research area. Now he is thirty-five, has spent a long time building and researching, and the result of that research seems to be that Knuckles is standing in his way. He wants to rid the world of stupid people and non-echidnas. And then he wants to rule. * Moves: 1) Lightning bolt (speaks for itself. Electric bolt comes from the fingertips to the target. Not really excrutiatingly exact, but will cause burns and shock if it does hit. Target being properly earthed will lessen the effect. The bolts vary in size but he has a maximum of ten before he runs out of power.) 2) St. Elmo's Fire (electricity strikes and clings. Lasts ten seconds at most. Also not that accurate, but quite effective. Effects last less time if target can earth properly, or find another way to throw the electricity off.) 3) Electric strike (a punch or kick enhanced with electricity. There is a shower of sparks and the target will probably be thrown backwards with the extra force. The recoil will also effect Finitevus - short range explosions cut both ways.) 4) Burnout (hold onto target and send electricity through their body until Finitevus lets go or target gets away. Will cause burns and shock and may stop target's heart - but requires concentration and effort on Finitevus' part. And of course he has to get close enough to grab them and hold on.) * Skills: A brilliant scientist, surgeon and technician - I haven't seperated these because he specializes in cybernetics, which is really a combination of all three. He's not really the life-saving sort. If he had to patch someone up he'd do it by replacing the damaged part with some sort of cybernetic weapon of his own invention. He built the stilt-walker, yes - but his mechanical skills are not the same as, say, Tails'. I repeat, he does cybernetics, not mechanics. The stilt walker was really just an experiment and there aren't likely to be more like it. * Strengths: Intelligent, resourceful and has a way with words. Whether from fear or persuasion he is good at making people follow him. He has the electrical weaponry, of course, and the stilt walker and an underground cybernetics lab. The lab is not huge - he has research facilities, an operating theatre and enough equipment to build maybe three whole cybernetic people (not that he would - you need a living creature to make the cybernetics work), plus maitenance equipment for the stilt walker. He also lives there, in a sparse but comfortably-furnished cave off the research lab. * Weaknesses: Probably the biggest one is the fact that his power runs out. Also, sometimes he has trouble getting supplies for his lab - it's not as though you can get three tons of titanium by FedEx, after all. He is not a great fighter. He has the electric weapon, yes, but it's not one that relies on strength or speed or even good aim - if a rival were to get round this then Finitevus would fall quite quickly. He is also on his own at the moment - nobody to betray him, true, but no backup, either. (Note to Nail Strafer, who has been infinitely patient with me: This is what the canon character looks like. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image r._Finitevus_Profile.jpg if he has three rings on each arm and four on each leg then does one hour forty-five minutes in total sound OK for powering the stilt walker? Please say this is the last version I have to do...)
