RE: Angel Island Beach
"You misunderstand me Chadin. When I said the boat ride was the worst of it, I meant that would probably be where we'd most likely get killed. Because if the boat sinks, there's not much we can do. But now we're here, and it's going to be a lot harder for Robotnik to find us before we find him. I'm sure you're comfortable in the wilderness with that getup. I am too. I grew up on a farm And as for me losing my temper it won't happen---"

My ears fold back against my head in embarrassment at that. "Oh... uh... sorry about that. Guess I'm a bit on edge... and I-" I sorta fell silent when I looked over at Gail and realized where his eyes were going. As a matter of fact, my throat got awful dry all of a sudden too now that I took a moment to realize what I'd actually done in the heat of the moment. But unlike Gail I recovered from that momentary awkwardness faster than him, particularly when Gerald pulled out his latest toy.

I watched in amazement as Vanessa's wounds practically mended themselves. "Wow... is that something you picked up back in Solenna, Gerald? Or is that another little toy that you haven't shown my before now like your watery friend there?" If that came out with a harsh undertone to it, I didn't mean too. I'm just not fond of surprises. I've had too many of the wrong kind sprung on me in my life time to like them anymore.

"In any event, we better get moving. No telling what Robotnik might throw at us next and I don't want to be caught out on this beach if he's got something heading our way already."

[I'd suggest that after Jijeka-Te replies that everyone switches over to the Mushroom Hill Zone to keep things rolling along. I'm heading there now myself so any comments directed to Chadin will be answered in that thread.]

-----

“Thanks for the cue.”

He was in the brush line, standing there with the same dull face he always had on; his fingers twitching a bit in anticipation. He had the top part of his uniform back on, as he stared at the group (which would look incredible menacing). He didn’t really say anything else; he just stood there, getting his footing ready as he waited to counter at any moment.

-----

Meanwhile, the nearby Eyebot got closer to the group; in fact, as Tatushiro got everyone's attention it hide above the tree-tops and looked down upon the group to get a closer look. It did it's best to remain out of sight and in the shadows where it wouldn't be seen.

(( I’m gonna say the Pod is stuck in the jungle or something and he got out to meet up with the people on the beach. Also, as a certain game mechanic will be introduced later, I’m going to suggestion that two characters go on ahead while three stay behind. So three people each get to fight Rapage and Tatushiro. Each. Party spilting time~ <3 ))

Gerald placed his hand behind his head and gave a nervous smile, his eyes closing in the process.

“Well, actually, I made it. I call it a Heal Unit-”

He wasn’t exactly happy about getting caught off, but as his hand came done he soon realized there was a much more concerning problem. He heard the voice of someone who had a sort of low, gravely voice and looked over to where it came from. His eye widened and he even leaned backwards as he dropped the Heal Unit in the sand. It was like he was trying to back up even though he was still a distant away. His eyebrows furrowed in a concerned way as his face had horror planted on it.

Uhh….before anyone asks, I have never seen anything like –THAT- before! Gerald said quietly as he tensed up in fear.

[Ji, maybe you should go ahead and post. I think Vanessa's moved to the Mushroom Hill zone. Not sure how, but it looks like that's what Tancer wants to do based on his new post in there.]

RE: Angel Island Beach
(Fine.)

Gail's query caught the attention of the Egyptian duo, and they turned.

(Anu) "I think the main reason we're not getting involved in things is because there isn't much opportunity for us to do so."
(Ji) "You and the others have got all that fancy... whatever you've got. All I've got are the clothes on my back, the frills on my neck, and... my crook and flail (she showed them). It's hard not to feel like you're the least valuable member of the group. That, and being so far away from home has been a bit of a blow to my--"
(Anu) "Your Highness, this isn't like you. For the past week you've been very hard to pin down. What happened to the old you? The you that was such a stalwart ruler of the kingdom, bringing every political change it needed?"
(Ji) "... ... ..."

Well, some things would certainly remain a mystery.

(And it's now that we switch?)

The Shattering screwed up time something awful. A select few were dumped out of their age altogether, a certain Egyptian queen included.

One of Kitty O'Brien's characters.

Vanessa's keen cat eyes caught a flash of light off in the distance. Always quick to follow what interest her, she dashed off. "Hey,check this out!" she called out as the blue cat's voice trailed off. (linking to post in mush hill.)

RE: Angel Island Beach
[Shouldn't that be Ji and Gail instead of Gail and Ji at the start there? I haven't gotten to go this round, aside from posting the little notification. Sorry if you feel like I'm butting in. I'd just like to use my turn. Aside from that though I'm fine with the order.]

A smile tugged a bit at the side of Gail's mouth as he listened to Ji explain she didn't have anything.

"Hey, I didn't bring much myself. I have this..."
He held out the large revolver. "...and these."

He revealed to them a set of what looked like bronze-plated armor for the legs and arms. As he did so, he slid them on around his lower legs, kneecaps, elbows, and wrists.

"It's not much, but it lets me punch harder and kick harder while protecting my limbs too. But hey, you guys can fly. I wish I could do that... Maybe you could fly over the trees or something and let us know when bad guys are coming..."

As if on cue, he heard Tatsu's one line, followed by Gerald's nervous chattering. The wolf's ears rotated around on his head like radar dishes to follow the sound, while the rest of his head played catch up. That definitely wasn't the voice of anyone in their party.

At first he didn't see anyone...but then he saw a very sick-looking black face with red eyes just peering at them out of the trees. If he hadn't heard that guy's voice, Gail would have thought they were just looking at one really creepy old statue.

With Ji and Anu forgotten, he promptly bought the revolver to bear and pointed it in Tatsu's direction. This guy certainly looked like bad news, especially if he'd just been hiding off to the side observing the fight this entire time. If he was a good guy, he'd have joined in the fight.

"YOU! Who are you?! Tell us now!"

RE: Angel Island Beach
Being a deer, I instinctively don't like surprises and much of my evolutionary traits are geared to make sure we DON'T get easily surprised. My ears, my sense of smell, my eye sight. All are meant to help prevent someone, or something from sneaking up on me.

So when someone DOES manage to do so, my natural instincts immediately kick into high gear, probably more so than a predatory species. More often than not first instinct is flight, rather than fight. But I've spent years fighting Robotnik, so that first I've learned how to suppress that natural instinct to run.

Probably faster than even Gail's reaction, my ears flashed around to zero in on the location of the new voice and my whole body snapped around, with my crossbow leveled on the new stranger in just a heartbeat. My finger was HOVERING over the trigger, watching with a piercing gaze for any motion, any twitch that I might interpret as a hostile motion and I would fire a shot straight through his forehead. The ONLY thing holding me back from shooting him outright just out of a panicked reflex was the fact this was not a robot and that he MAY be a friendly.
