Angel Island Beach

RE: Angel Island Beach
This time, the SWATpod pilot learned from his first mistake. As soon as it spied Vanessa staying behind on the beach, the SWATbot figured she'd try to do that rocket move again. So the SWATpod stopped and hovered over the water, out of the range the SWATbot calculated from the cat's initial attack.

Gail kept running for the trees, but briefly turned around to see if everyone had made it. To his shock he saw Vanessa still standing out there. He turned round and hurried back, screaming at her.

"Vanessa! Don't take that thing head on! You'll get ripped to shreds!"

The SWATpod's cannons lit up, sending red laser blasts flying all over the beach. While the barrage would certainly deliver an impressive amount of shock and awe, the SWATpod appeared to be going for sheer quantity rather than quality in its shots.

The salvo forced Gail to back off and duck behind the first layer of trees, as the plasma bolts pinged off of trees, bushes, and rocks, sending up clouds of wood chips, leaves, and pebbles. Feeling very cowardly, he ducked down and covered his head, waiting for it to stop as he gritted his teeth.

RE: Angel Island Beach
As I hit the treeline, I spun on my heels and disappeared into the foliage. Now I was in my element! From here, I could hit that pod and be gone before it knew where I was, I...

'Oh, for crying out loud!' I groaned to myself as I looked back across the beach and saw Vanessa staring down the Swat Pod, totally in the open. Shots came tearing in all over the place. Several came real close to hitting me, but thankfully the only thing hitting me was the leaves of the bushes those lasers sliced through. I knew I was way out of effective range from here. But maybe I didn't need to kill it, just take its focus off Vanessa. 'Sigh, if only Sonic was around.' I mused. 'Those bots would chase after him to the complete exclusion of EVERYTHING.'

"Vanessa!! Draw him back to the tree line and we'll light him up!!!" I shouted, hoping that Vanessa would be willing to follow along with my suggestion. All I need is a few good shots at close range; and who knows, if we can get him closer the others might be able to do something too.

(( Sorry guys, stuff been happen. @_@))

Gerald would make it to the tree line just as the SWATpod began its frenzy shooting. He hid behind a palm as he ducked; with his hands over his head. This was not a good situation, and he wasn’t sure of what to do. Maybe he could pull Vanessa back into the trees, but he was a bit too far away to do so. And as he sat there with the barrage of firing going on he realized that he should have stayed near the water; because his artificial chaos would have been able to attack.

“Crud, what was I thinking!” Gerald exclaimed to himself as he hit his head out of frustration. “I need to get back to the water!”

But, with all this firing going on he wouldn’t make it to anywhere without getting shot.

"Uhhh, Glow - face I - woah - don't HAVE - a pen!" The cat was currently trying to dodge shots and answer back Chadin. She seemed to take the other definition of 'draw', which helped jack. Though she did hear Gerald exclaim he had to reach the water.

Being the fastest one here by far, she reached Gerald in fractions of a second, grabbing onto his shoulders she began to drag him towards the ocean. She didn't run with him in her grasp, rather slid along the ground. Using her grind tackle to propel herself and Gerald across the beach back to the water. Gerald being a friend of hers, she didn't do the usual scraping of the face that normally came with it.

When the two reached the waters end, Vanessa was dancing around in agony. A shot had clipped her in the back of her shoulder and even she had to give into the agony. It was a flesh wound, another scar she'd be proud of but for now she just let forth a litany of curses stream from her mouth.

Ji and Anu watched from their hiding place without saying anything. The former secretly wished she could join in the fight.

RE: Angel Island Beach
Now that it had two targets exposed out in the open, the SWATpod ceased firing for a moment to retarget Vanessa and Gerald. However, several gunshots struck the SWATpod's windshield, making huge spiderwebs where ever they hit and further cracking the already damaged glass. The SWATbot would see large caliber slugs embedded across the screen, with the glass itself near the breaking point.

Gail reloaded his huge revolver one last time, careful to aim each and every shot and hoping this might actually do some good now. With one final shot, the SWATpod's windshield shattered, not to mention destroying the overlaying HUD that let the pod target with accuracy.

The robot pilot could only rely on its own eyes to target now, which were not as accurate as the pod's computers. It rotated the cannons to where it thought the shots might hit, but they went too high. So it started rotating the cannon downward, but now they just harmlessly splashed in the water some distance away.

The wolf smirked, glad he'd finally done something to hurt the thing like Vanessa. Although his companions were still in danger out in the open like that.

"What are you guys doing?! We need to stay in the trees!"
he called out.

RE: Angel Island Beach
"Nice shot, Gail!! Now's our chance!!" I cried with glee as I saw the pod's windshield finally shatter. I'd have to keep that in mind next time. Robotnik might have put some kind of laser resistant materials on his ships, but ballistic damage still seemed to do some good. Now with the glass shattered, I took careful aim at the Swat-Bot's glowing red eye and fired. Even though it may not be as powerful as at closer range, at the very least, my shot ought to shatter that bot's optics. Kill it outright, probably not, but it ought to leave us a better chance to attack it more directly with its ability to aim properly gone.

((You know, I was hoping you guys would skip me seeing as I did post in the absences, but no one did. I wish you would have though. =_=))

Gearld was quite flabbergasted when Vanessa grabbed him by his shirt-collar and began to drag him out across the beach. Not only did he seem confused by the recent action, he was also concerned about Vanessa and his own safety. After all, it didn’t seem like a good idea to go out when a barrage of shots were being fired. But he was at a loss of words with all the action going on around him.

When Vanessa managed to get him to the water’s edge he looked incredible confused at first, before he finally managed to get his mind back in thinking order. Thankfully, by then the fire had ceased, and then became incredibly pathetic after Gail had managed to destroy the windshield. He ran, getting deeper into the water until it was above his waist before he ordered the Artificial Chaos on his back to hit the ship.

Now being in the water, connected to the largest pool of it, its range should be able to reach the pilot. He had to exploit this while he could, considering he didn’t know just how many lakes, rivers, creeks, or other bodies of water he would come upon in the future.

(( Nonsense, what better way to keep your mind off your troubles, besides drinking!))

Vanessa had stopped her show of pain, a piece of her jacket missing showing a singed part of her shoulder. Her ears dropped as she got a saddened face. "Damn, I really liked this!"
Her sorrow turned to indignation as she once again set her sights on the swatpod.
"Oi, scaredy wolf get out 'ere and stop being so scurd!" she called back to Gail. Having little sense of self preservation, she felt it her right to impose such standards on others.
