(Really? No wonder this topic was stalled for so long.)

Ji took a deep breath as she stood. She prepared to take off and pursue Tatsu, but Anu stopped her.

(Anu) "Don't, Your Highness! Your frill is ripped... if you stress it you'll just make the rip worse. Stay on the ground for now."
(Ji) "...If you insist."

She sighed and folded her frills, not at all content with letting Tatsu get away.

As much as Gail wanted to take on Tatsu again and get to the bottom of this plot, they had to take care of their friends too. So while Chadin pursued Tatsu, the wolf dashed across the sand to Anu and Ji, with the sand kicking up behind him. As he did so, he clutched one hand to the blaster wound on his shoulder.

"Are you two all right? We need to keep up with that demon guy or we may not see Gerald again. Plus we need to find out just what's going on here, in the first place."

As he spoke, he knelt down beside a SWATbot and started tugging on one of its arms. Before long, there'd be a loud screeching sound as the metal started to bend and break. Gail looked to be working hard trying to do it too. It wasn't so easy with one of his shoulders injured...but he needed another weapon.

[Okay I'm confused, I just thought Tatsu's conversation with rose was carrying on in the other topic, not that he actually exited the topic. Exactly how do we treat this?]

[Sorry about the pause, but just straightening out some confusion on my part]

My stride broke as I heard Gail ask Jii if they were alright. It suddenly occurred to me that I hadn't even considered their welfare while I was so distracted by pursuing Robotnik's minion. It also occurred to me that in addition to the Chaos entity on me, Gerald also gave me his healing unit thing. Plus, when Gail ripped that Swat-bot arm off, it also occurred to me that this would be an excellent time to stock up on power-cells from the dead Swat-bots; but we'd have to do so quickly.

"Hey! I think I can help. Gerald gave me that healing pack he used on Vanessa before." I called out as I pulled the pack off my back an handed it to Gail. "I'm not quite sure how it works, but maybe you can make sense of it while I collect some ammo."

I passed the pack to Gail and rushed off to the line of ruined Swat-bots. Thankfully, these Swat-bots were just like I remembered them. A quick pry of my knife and the compartment on the Swat-bots arm popped open. Inside was just what I was looking for. I only had time to collect the power-cells of two of the bots. Any more time wasted and I feared we'd loose Tatsu. I wasn't overly worried about being unable to track him; I was fairly good at that. I was more worried that he might have a ship arrive and pick him up before we can figure out where he's ultimately heading.

Ji and Anu stood in front of Gail.

(Anu) "For the most part we're okay, but Her Majesty's frill is ripped and she won't be able to do any gliding without it."

Ji showed Gail the rip.

Gail winced when he saw the hole in the frill. He felt thankful he didn't have any part of his body as a thin flap like that. Thus, he quickly accepted the bottle that Chadin had passed him, leaving his work from the swatbot temporarily. The wolf recalled how Gerald had used it earlier.

"I think you just twist this knob...and..."

As he did this, a light green energy enveloped Ji. Almost immediately, she would feel the wound healing. However, with the skin zapped off like that it might take a bit more energy to heal.

"Just hold this a bit longer," Gail said, passing the pack to Ji. The wolf continued his work on the SWATpod's arm. Finally, with a loud screeching sound and electric sparks, the arm ripped free. It happened so suddenly Gail almost tumbled backwards into the snow, but he managed to recover his balance.

"Let's see here now..." he tried putting a red wire to the other wires poking out of the arm. Nothing seemed to happen as he joined the circuits. However, when joining to a green wire, a laser blast suddenly flashed out of the wrist launcher, taking him by surprise. Laughing, he tried it again, as the laser blast hit another tree. "It feels really strange using this, but I think it'll work for now."

He started off towards the woods where Tatsu had vanished to, and waved for the others to follow.

"What do you see we get going? We can't let him get too far ahead." However, he had a thought as he turned around. That black smoke still billowed out of the middle of the island. "Of course, I think we can just follow the smoke too if we lose him."

I slapped the side of my head as it suddenly dawned on me. "Smoke...? Oh, great! Vanessa ran off in that direction! So either we chase after that... thing, or we go find Vanessa and make sure she's alright."

I hate these kind of dilemmas. Then again, Vanessa can take care of herself, mostly. Sure she has an almost suicidal fighting spirit, but she's a terrific fighter. Gerald on the other hand... well, I'm pretty sure the Gerald's best defense was this water being still covering me. Which means he's all but defenseless. That would make Gerald the most obvious first priority in this case. But still, if something happened to Vanessa, I'd probably forever keep asking second guessing myself and what might have happened differently.

"I'm probably going to regret saying this later, but I think we should go after Gerald first. Vanessa can take care of herself, but Gerald can't."

(Anu) "Your Highness! The rip's healing... how does that work?"

Neither moved. Neither paid any attention to Chadin, either.

Not to mention I still need to prove to her I don't deserve the nickname scaredy wolf...

He watched, amazed as the cut in Ji's frill healed from the potion.

"I have no idea how it works either. We really need to get the doctor back. Imagine all the things hospitals could do with this technology."

As the cut continued to heal, Gail left the two and started running for the place where Tatsu had taken off.

"We need to get going now, or demon guy's going to escape!"

And with that he took off into the woods.
