Angel Island Beach

RE: Angel Island Beach
Gail grinned at the explosion along the left flank, which seemed to have knocked down several SWATbots with it. Now he had a way to get out of the sand and into some proper cover. The wolf called out to the deer loudly over the random firing.

"Chadin! Cover me! I'm moving up!"

Holstering his revolver, he crawled across the sand on his hands and knees towards the now-crippled left flank. However, a shot clipped his shoulder, causing him to stumble down into the sand. Gritting his teeth, Gail continued to drag himself as quickly as possible away from this madhouse. However, with one arm injured at the moment, he was reduced to crawling on his elbows and knees now.

RE: Angel Island Beach
"You got it!!" I shouted back as I proceeded to open up on the remaining Swat-bots. Again, I first focused my attention on the one that was closest to us all. This time my shot cleaved cleanly through the bot, severing vital circuitry that caused it to short-circuit and fall, twitching and sparking with visible arcs of electricity dancing across it's metal corpse.

By now several of the Swat-bots still standing had figured out they were extremely exposed and ducked down. The others that didn't, well lets just say Darwin's theory's work for robots too.

Going for the easy, more exposed targets first I nailed one in the mid-torso, slicing through the armour cleanly, but not quite dead yet. Its legs however seemed to no longer be functioning.

A hail of laser fire came back my way in reply. Most struck the sand harmless enough, though I could smell my fur burning from the hot glass-like sand bouncing off my face. But the really strange thing came only seconds later. Several shots finally found their mark, strike across my right shoulder. I felt the hits, but the amazing thing is: after I finished cringing from the expected pain, I felt... nothing. A little heat, but otherwise fine. I'd been hit many times before by a Swat-bot's lethal rounds before, so naturally I glanced over to my shoulder and was stunned to see that strange water entity that Gerald put on me and sort of... receded from my shoulder. But I watched in amazement as it slowly started to fill the gap back in. This thing was acting like some kind of shield!!!

Just then I heard Gail yelp in pain. I snapped back to reality and refocused myself on covering Gail. A third shot in, on the shoulder of another bot, but hardly a substantial hit. Too distracted I suppose. I know I can aim better than that. Then it hit me, if Gail was going to make it off the beach, I needed to distract those bots; and with this armour, I can make myself a much more tempting target, especially if they consider me a bigger threat.

Meanwhile the Swat-bots knocked down were started to get themselves back up to their feet and the remaining six bots still able to fire continued to do so, but still in the same random and chaotic fashion with no real focus on any one target.

RE: Angel Island Beach
[ Sorry guys, Chadin confused me with posting in his Rampage account. ><]

He might have been successful in getting a hit, but he landed fairly hard after the attack. Without a leg he couldn’t just get up so easily. He got blasted a few times by the robots, but they didn’t do any damage to him. The least it did was ruin his uniform, which was always a given in battle.

He would manage to get on his one knee, though. He was feeling weaker than before as he was losing quite a bit of blood. As much as he didn’t want to, he would need to back out soon. Not like he could do much anyways.

Ji and Anu had no choice but to stay low to the ground where they were.

The Shattering screwed up time something awful. A select few were dumped out of their age altogether, a certain Egyptian queen included.

Gail gritted his teeth as he continued dragging himself through the sand, doing his best to keep the grit out of his open wound. Finally, when he was six feet away from the tree line, he jumped up quickly and darted into the bushes, collapsing into a heap on the soft grass. It felt rather comfortable after the sand, but he tried not to stay down too long.

After a moment, the wolf picked himself up, crouched behind a bush, and started firing the revolver with his un-wounded arm one handed. However, even with his strength, the Whipcrack packed a considerable punch and now he had to take his shots slowly.

"Okay Chadin! Get over here!"

RE: Angel Island Beach
I jumped up to my feet and sprinted towards to the tree line. The Swat-bot's now having an easy target in their sights all turned their attention on me. I tried not to think about the hail of laser fire flashing past me, or what might happen in a lucky shot happened to strike me in the head; the one place where the water-being Gerald gifted to me did not cover. Even if I knew I was protected by the water-being, I was terrified to be doing something so bold and blatantly foolish. But it paid off. I skidded into the under brush beside Gail. The water-shield was pock-marked with dozens of holes from the many Swat-bot laser strikes, but I was, otherwise unharmed.

"You okay, Gail?" I asked frantically, still high on the adrenaline buzz.

Tatsu reached into his pocket carefully as he grabbed onto his communicator. He opened it up, thankfully he didn’t have to change the frequency.

“Tatsuhiro here.” He started off slowly and quietly. “Need to retreat.”

RE: Angel Island Beach
Gail looked in amazement as the water being seemed to completely protect the deer from all of those laser blasts. He hadn't noticed it before...probably because it was so clear.

"You one lucky sunovagun to have that thing. One of them got me pretty good..." Gail grunted as he shifted his arm, indicating the burn mark on his shoulder. The fur had burned away, revealing the reddened skin underneath. "...but I'll suffer through it. I've had worse."

Sighing, he glanced into his pockets. He was running low on bullets for his handcannon. After this fight was over, the wolf pondered ripping one of the arms off of the SWATbots, figuring out what wires made the arm blaster fire, and then using that as a new weapon.

After reloading, he looked back up in time from his covered position in time to see Tatsu start to stalk away from the battlefield.

"Demon guy's taking off. I wonder what's up with him. We still need to save the others though..."

Laser blasts continued to dance over the heads of the pair laying down in the sand. Carrying on, Gail resumed his firing, hoping they could put the last of these guys down and finally get off this beach.

RE: Angel Island Beach
Together with my own shooting the last of the Swat-bots finally fell. An eerie silence fell over the beach at last, broken only by the steady breaking of waves at the shore. The smell of scorched sand and machine oil permeated the air and the beach was poke-marked with the tiny glass fragments of the flash-fried sand. Machine oil leaked from the destroyed corpses of the Swat-bots, staining the pristine sand a dirty black.

Quote:"Demon guy's taking off. I wonder what's up with him. We still need to save the others though..."

My head snapped over toward Tatsu once Gail mentioned it. "We can't let that guy escape! He's the only one who knows what happened to Gerald, come on!!" As I leapt to my feet I drew my special hunting knife. Since this guy seemed to be all but immune to my crossbow, I suspected that my knife might have a better chance of putting some fear of us in him. Much as I would rather just kill a minion of Robotnik's outright, we need him alive to get Gerald back. It would not take long for me and the others to reach Tatsu given his condition.
