RE: Launch Base Zone
The pain continued for a little while; he once opened his eyes to try and see the ground, but another shock wave of pain came with his vision blacking out and a loud ringing sound in his ears. But, at one point it started to fade away slowly. As the major part of his pain was gone he slowly bent back upwards; opening his eyes.

Nothing, all he could now see was machinery. It was like his darkest nightmares were beginning to come to him while he was still awake. If this happened again, he didn’t know where he could escape too. He escaped his nightmares from not sleeping; but if his nightmares where both when he was asleep and awake, then what would he do? If only his wife was around he wouldn’t have to bother with either.

He began to rub the sides of his temples with his index and middle finger. His face looked worn like he hadn’t been sleeping.

“Unless you know where my wife is I’m afraid you can’t do anything.”

Gerald then looked surprised and snapped his head quickly over in Robotnik’s direction. For a moment he’d forgotten he was there. And seeing him and with what he was thinking before he felt his blood rise again. His expression changing only to a more serious look he placed his left hand on Robotnik’s shoulder.

“Speaking of which…”

He sounded fairly normal before he tightened his hold on Robotnik and quickly reeled back his right, punching him square in the jaw. And his punch was fairly heavy too. After his punch would land he let Robotnik go and sneered at him angrily.

RE: Launch Base Zone
Robotnik doubled back a bit, as Gerald suddenly snapped his head to face Robo. It felt like something out of a horror movie with the sudden movement. Not really sure what to do now, he froze as Gerald put a hand on his shoulder.

The punch came as a total shock, causing Robotnik to topple over backwards and land on the metal floor behind him. He weighed so much it actually caused a slight vibration through the ground Gerald was standing on.

However, the doctor quickly sprung back up into a sitting position, now rubbing the stinging bruise on his jaw. Robo only managed to stammer out a few words, as he thought the punch had been hard enough to chip a tooth.

"Wha....did...you do that for?"

It sounded like something was stuck in his throat with that language, making the phrase almost comical instead of serious like Robo was trying to be.

RE: Launch Base Zone
“That was for my wife you incompetent bully!” He exclaimed in anger, his eyes closing in the process as his teeth gritted; his clenched fists in the air. His entire body language was giving off that he was clearly pissed. He shot his left fist down at his side as he stepped forward, point his right finger at him.

“Because of your foolish actions I don’t know where she is; or worse, if she even still exists! I might be the only person to remember that she did…

He started to choke up at the last sentence. His body seemed to drupe along with it, as he placed his left hand over his eyes. Now he expressed and incredible deep sadness. The deep dark feeling of emptiness in his stomach felt like it was getting bigger. He didn’t want to admit it; nor did he believe that Clarice was gone forever to him. No, no, she would go down that easily; it was against her entire personality. But the fact that there was a one percent possibility that she no longer there was enough for him to feel his heart break. He didn’t know what he was going to do without her. He had avoided thinking about the very idea.

RE: Launch Base Zone
Robotnik felt genuinely upset that he had done something to distress his mentor. He slowly stood up and approached again, but this time made sure to keep a few steps away.

"If she is out there, I will find her for you. It's no problem for the might of my empire to find one person. How does that sound?"

RE: Launch Base Zone
Now it was Gerald’s turn to feel bad.

“Well, that would be very kind of you…”

He brought his left hand up behind his head and rubbed the back of his neck. He didn’t expect this guy to be so…nice. But, was he just being nice because he was family? Did he know him? Suddenly remembering the man had called him grandfather made him feel worse in the pit of his stomach.

“….sorry. I’m afraid I’m little...emotional.” Gerald said quietly.

[“A little?!”]

The girl. He started to look around, but to his surprise on of the SWATbots walked straight up; pointing a finger in his face.

[“You call punching the Great Dr. Robotnik a little emotional! I’m surprised I haven’t already killed you for that…”]

He looked at the robot quizzically as he stepped back. He blinked a few times.

“Uh, well I don’t seem to operate well when she’s not around. And I’m finding it incredible alien to not hear a sarcastic, snarky, or snide comment every five minutes….

RE: Launch Base Zone
Robotnik suppressed a smile, finally glad that he had managed to get his grandfather under control. The sight of Rose making the SWATbot walk straight up to him and point a finger in his face added to the brief change of mood. The doctor walked over to join the pair.

"Well, until we find your wife, I think Rose will fill in with plenty of sarcastic, snarky, and snide comments for her. She's very good at that."

The doctor pat the SWATbot on the back a few times, as he brought out a handkerchief and wiped some blood that had dripped out of his nose from the punch.

"If you don't mind, I would like to have a long talk with you. I never got to speak to you properly the first time around...at least in terms of my timeline and dimension. I have many questions for you and ideas I'd like to share with you."

[“Actucally, no I won’t. I got to..umm…do stuff.”]

The Swatbot went back to normal as Rose’s communication line cut. Gerald just blinked more, somewhat confused. But he shook it out of his system as Robotnik talked.

“I was thinking the same thing, except you explaining some things to me.” Gerald started off. “What is this whole empire nonsense about? I’ve already heard stories, but I want to hear your end of it.”

Gerald wasn’t going to allow him to start the conversation. He felt like he’d be there all day, listening to him and his crazy ideas without getting his own questions answered.

RE: Launch Base Zone
Robotnik beamed a large smile at Gerald as he brought up the subject of his empire. Clearly the doctor would be only too happy to talk at length about his little project.

"Ah...the Robotnik Empire. It is my humble gift to this planet. If you ask me, the established governments are far too incompetent to be running the world. Even if we get to elect them, our politicians don't care about us so long as they get their perks. They just bicker and squabble amongst one another, and don't really care what happens to their people as long as they're still in charge. And even when someone tries to get something done, it has to go through committee after committee after committee. It's a miracle they get anything done.

"That is why I have decided to take matters into my own hands, and bring the entire world under my command. Did you know that a monarchy, with one person in charge, is actually the most efficient form of government? No one else to please, no one else to consult...just one person making up his mind and getting things done. You just have to find the perfect person to put up there, and I think that person is....me."

The doctor gave a very sincere smile as he said this, and he spoke that last sentence without a trace of irony. He honestly believed every word of it.

"Imagine all the things we can accomplish with just the Empire. No boundaries, no separations. The sun would never set on the empire's soil. And it was you who gave me the inspiration to do all of this."

RE: Launch Base Zone
Everything the Doctor had said was unsettling to him. He was clearly out of touch with reality. Did he not understand patience in the least? Or even realize man’s folly? Yes, there was truth within the insanity, but one man to rule the world? That would take micro-management that not one man could do; and make a reasonable amount of good decisions to bad. And what was the most unsettling was that he was somehow responsible for this idea.

“And how did I ever inspire this?” Gerald looked towards him looking concerned. “I could argue all day with you about what form of government is best; which, is not what you think is.” He turned his head away and shrugged with his arms up. “I let the world of government figure itself out. All men have follys, and all make mistakes. What I am concerned with is making life better.”

He walked a few steps away. He really wasn’t like being stuck in this place. It was hot, and reminded him too much of a depressing past. But it served as his fuel for what he wanted.

“-When the quality of life is better, things in the world are better. There will always be problems of course; nothings perfect. That’s how human life tends to work. I wanted…to see a place were misery isn’t common. Where people had lesser things to worry about than having food or clothes on their backs; to never have to see what I’ve seen, what I’ve been through. I hardly see how a government could do that. No, that’s something for others like me to figure out. By breaking through to new technologies; figuring out how our universe works. That’s how.”

RE: Launch Base Zone
"If you don't like this place..." Robotnik started. Truth to be told, he felt himself getting rather sweaty, as he wiped some beads of it from his forehead. "We can talk in more pleasant surroundings."

The doctor would start to walk through the plant, motioning for Gerald to follow.

"You don't understand yet because you don't know what you are going to do when you reach a ripe old age." The doctor paused for a moment. He scratched his chin, wondering how he would put his next words. "Or at least, what you would have done if I hadn't interfered."

The doctor shook his head and made a waving motion, as if tossing aside the notion.

"Anyway, this is what would have happened if I hadn't done anything. You too were going to turn against your own government. They hired your to create the ultimate life form on the space station ARK. You ended up making a hedgehog called Shadow. And since you were lonely you also had your grand daughter Maria on board with you. That ended up being a costly mistake. The government decided your research was too dangerous, and stormed the ARK. They killed everyone on board, including Maria, and then arrested you and executed you back on Earth."

The doctor cast a mad gleam towards his idol, letting his pearly whites shine.

"That is when I became distrustful of all governments, and decided that I could do a better job than they could. Why should they try to shut down such brilliant research to extend life? Anyway, I combined this dream with my scientific genius, which you also inspired me with, and I've been at it trying to make my dream come true ever since..."
