RE: On the road to knothole
Chadin's words quickly angered him. It was one thing to maybe accuse him of something, especially since he didn't know what was going. But he did not like being accused of thinking that he was superior to everyone else. Even though he wasn't really directly accusing him, he was still grouping him up with it.
"Superior!" Gerald's tone raised, "The only people who think like that are the low of self confidence; or the ego's that need to be constantly fed. And even so, that's no reason to hold scorn! That would be bringing you down to there level! Also, by -your- logic, I guess that would make me immune to it since I'm only a Robotnik by name; not by blood." He didn't quite like stating that fact. He didn't know why, but for some reason the fact he was adopted was a bad thing; even though he probably would have been dead by now if he wasn't. But, hopefully it would get the deer to understand that he wasn't evil monster that hid under the bed. At least the cat was listening. She was obviously very brave; grabbing onto the knife like that. Which made him concerned for her, since she was bleeding. But nothing could be done while this useless fighting was going on. He'd have to end it somehow if the deer would not listen. |

RE: On the road to knothole
"You're right, lil' bro. But stabbing him aint much of a fight." by now the knife was beginning to get coated in the cat's blood. "Any way, you're all extra glowy, and you said it was when you're mad, people always do things they regret when they are mad, so I don't want you to do something you would regret, you're my lil' bro!" Vanessa had a simplistic view of the world. Either you where her friend or mortal enemy. Right now Chadin was lucky enough to almost be regarded as family, even though they knew each other for less then a week.

RE: On the road to knothole
By now, Gerald's responses and attitudes were starting to sink in as strangely out of place from what I might have expected him to have said. If he really was like the Robotnik I had had expected either he was pulling a very convincing con to avoid being on the receiving end of my blade or maybe he's actually sincere. In any case, the final straw came when I noticed to hint of blood streaking down my knife's edge. I immediately pulled the knife away, with my ears fold down in shame. I had never meant to harm Vanessa and to do so was just plain unexceptionable in my eyes; I know that I have better control than that.
"Vanessa... you're hand, I... I'm so sorry. I-I... didn't mean to..." At this stage I was a bit flustered now. My anger was quickly ebbing away, but the surge of adrenaline was now swarming through me making it very hard to remain level headed without becoming overly emotional. I took a couple steps away, flicking my knife to remove the blood. "Alright... maybe you're not who I think you are..." I said slowly, returning my knife to it's sheath. ", Then who are you, and what do you mean 'in name only?" |

RE: On the road to knothole
“It means I was adopted.” He had started of with a sigh, obviously not like admitting the information. “My original last name was Ives. But it soon changed to my middle name; since I didn’t have one. But, I am still who I say I am. My name is Gerald Robotnik.”
Finally putting his hands now, he opened the pocket watch and looked at it. “And as I was saying before you lost your temper, I am trying to find my wife.” He held the watch out to Chadin, expecting him to take it and look at the photo inside. The photo would look…strange. It wasn’t aged, but it was tanned like what old photo’s looked like. The photo inside of the case of the watch should a young woman, who was probably only around twenty or so. Her hair was dark, probably brown, and had a somewhat light eye color; which was most likely green. She had a somewhat long and thin face, and smiling; though with the way her eyes are posed, she looked incredibly sly. Quote: [OOC: For fun, here’s an alternate line for Gerald: “Have you seen my wife? Her name is…Clarice.” –(shot for Silent Hill 2 reference)-] |

RE: On the road to knothole
"No sweat, if I got mad over gettin' cut I'd be a wuss!" The cat let out a hearty laugh, giving Chadin a solid smack on the shoulder. Vanessa may not have been huge, but she was incredibly strong.
"Ives? eck, that is such a dumb name." The blue cat had a very visible look of disgust on her face when Gerald said the name. She was also rude as she was strong. |

RE: On the road to knothole
I glanced at the picture, but not surprisingly, I didn't recognize this Overlander any more than I could have identified any other; apart from a certain overweight dictator of course. I scratched the blonde tuft of fur that would pass for hair if I were human, feeling rather awkward about how I could tell this man I had no idea how to find her... or if she even is in this new zone.
"I... don't no how to tell you this, sir, but... Your problem is kind of two fold here. First, I'm afraid I haven't seen this lady. Not like I'd be able to tell any of you Overlanders apart anyway. I haven't exactly had much dealings with your kind. Second... with the dimensional merge, whole parts of different zones and realities merged and blended with other parts. I've seen entire buildings cut clean in half. Presumably the other half is in some alternate zone. In other words, your wife could be trapped in an entirely different zone... like the rest of MFF for all I know..." I stared sadly at the dusty road. It has been a conclusion that I guess you could say I haven't been wanting to admit for sometime. It was a big burden to bear, believing that I might be the only member of the MFF here in this new zone. It meant that I'd have to step up and continue the fight against Robotnik... alone if necessary. |

RE: On the road to knothole
Hearing the news from Chadin made him go slightly. Though it couldn't be seen, he was staring blankly into space. He didn't know quite how to react. After a few momments, he pulled his arm back; looking at the picture inside the watch slilently.

RE: On the road to knothole
"Don't look so sad Glasses, You'll find her. Hell maybe she's with Tancer." Vanessa stopped for a second realizing what she said. "Why that no good two bit skirt chasing son of a fu***** **** eating limp **** *******!" Her obscenities didn't stop there but they did slur together and became one chain of litany.
"Glow-face, I have to hurry up and find Tancer, that jerk-head is prolly out gettin' some leavin' me twirling my thumbs!" Vanessa was visibly distressed. Her tail puffed out, her fist clenched. |

RE: On the road to knothole
Vanessa, if you want to find this Tancer guy so bad than coming with me is probably counter-productive. If Tancer is one of your gang members he'd probably be back in Solenna. We're heading into the Great Forest; to Knothole specifically. I need to get back there so I can start planning the Freedom Fighters next move against Robotnik.... er... um... the other Robotnik.... not you..." This was going to get very confusing having two people named Robotnik around.

RE: On the road to knothole
Normally, Gerald probably would of winced at the slur of curses Vanessa used; but at this point he wasn't paying much attention. He didn't know what to think. It wasn't like the deer was saying she was dead- but it didn't seem like she was alive either. But, he had a feeling deep down in him that she wasn't dead; or other than that it was complete denial. But, it wasn't like he had anything to go by. In fact, now that he thought of it, it was stupid of him wandering around aimless; and nothing good would come out of it if he continued to do so.
He closed his pocket watch, placing it back in his pocket as he looked over towards Chadin with a curious expression. "...You said something about this...Robotnik fellow trying to take over the world, yes?" He started off somewhat slowly as though he was trying to get his bearings back. " Could you explain what you mean? I don't quite see how anyone could gain an army for such a foolish deed. Unless, well, he somehow managed to hypnotize and brainwash people; which is impossible." |
