On the road to knothole
Vanessa had left the field hospital with her new traveling buddy, Chadin the deer. Though she was happy to accompany him, she was dissatisfied at the pace he moved at. She must have run around the neighboring blocks almost a hundred times on the way out of the city.
"Hey! Glow-face, how far is it to this err... Ropehut village?" she asked his back peddling around the deer. Hopefully Chadin would have enough experience in dealing with another blue blur to deal with this one. |

RE: On the road to knothole
Unfortunately, I only ever met that particular blue-blur on only the briefest of basis. I was actually part of a separate cell of Freedom Fighters that operated out of the vast mountain ranges. As such, I did't have much experience dealing with such hyper-active individuals like Vanessa. That said however, after spending a few days recovering from my injuries where Vanessa regularly visited me, I did soon become... more-or-less accustomed to some of Vanessa's more frequently displayed quirks. Like how she never seems to call me by my actual name.
But speaking of his injuries, I still was amazed by how quickly I'd recovered. Whatever medicines or treatments those Overlanders did to me were nothing less than remarkable. I still had a few bandages wrapped around a few of the more substantial injuries; like my right arm and leg. I still had a bit of a limp, but that's huge improvement compared to what I could manage a couple days ago. "Vanessa, I told you already, I'm not entirely sure. I arrived in Solenna on the back of a flying dragon, so my path finding is a bit messed up. I know the general direction, but without having walked that distance myself I'm not sure exactly how far it is. I'm sorry if I'm slowing you down, but I'm still recovering from all of my injuries. So unless you can drag me along with you while running at top speed, I'm guessing it might take a day or two to reach Knothole on foot." Speaking of that actually, I was still amazed at how Vanessa is able to move so fast. Seeing her control and manipulate her powers so freely really gave me hope that she might be able to teach me how to control these strange new powers of mine. Of course, ever time she changed topics mid-sentence I had a feeling it's going to be a slow process one way or another. |

RE: On the road to knothole
"I could carry you, whaddya think I am, some weaklin'?" the blue cat took a very indignant tone. "I am east side gunz second top enforcer, why there aint no one, 'cept Tancer, who I couldn't pound into mashed tators." she was so huffy even her tail was completely puffed out. "I could prolly beat the Tabasco out of every one in this stumphut village you keep talking about." Suddenly, much like how the wind changes direction, a curious tone replaced her irate one. "Say, whats up with this place anyway?" Her eyes grew big with excitement "Does it have a huge arcade? Hows the all you can eat buffet? ohh ohh, when I am gonna be staying with you I call top bunk! If you want top bunk..." she put up her fist shadow boxing a little, still having no trouble keeping up with the deer. "You'll have to fight me for top bunk Glow-face!"

I couldn't help roll my eyes. "So you keep telling me, Vanessa, but I still don't know what you're talking about. And why are you so obsessed with fighting? I've always been taught that you should only fight when you have to. You on the other hand will fight at the drop of a hat. What gives?"

RE: On the road to knothole
"I don't know, I've been fighting since um." She started thinking hard, scratching her head. "Oh yeah I remember his name, Brad Elswick the first guy's kiester I ever kicked! I was 7, then I had to beat up all his friends... and their friends... then the those East side boyz joined in. Then I had to kick the Tunnel rats tails then they called in boys from over in station square then this weird light showed up then there was this guy in a dusty town and then I met you." The blue cat had managed to summarize her entire life in to one continuous series of fights. Ever since she was a wee lass she's had to knuckle up.
"Well I always had to fight, If I didn't they would have taken my moms money or they would beat me up. So I beat 'em up!" |

RE: On the road to knothole
"It must be a city thing." I shrugged and wearily shook my head. "Sounds like a lot of fighting for nothing to me; aside from protecting you or your mother. I didn't grow up fighting. It was only after Robotnik burned down my home and I lost my parents that I started fighting."

RE: On the road to knothole
"Fightin' fer nothin'!!??" Chadin should have known by now, insulting, or almost insulting anything to do with the cat's love of fighting was a sure fire way to get her in a tiff. "I fought for respect! There is a reason oi am ESG's second toughest enforcer! I thought I told you that Glow-face, Did you hit yer head an catch amnessula or something?"

"Respect? Vanessa, I don't know how life works in the city, but there ought to be better ways to earn respect than fighting. Fighting should always be a last resort. You keep mentioning these... East Side whatever like I should know them or care but I don't. So could you please enlighten me?"

RE: On the road to knothole
At this point and time, Gerald didn't know what to think. He was already going through a nightmare. All he remembered was falling asleep, awakening from his usual nasty dream to find himself in some other world. The university he was in, once filled with splendor was now torn and ragged; plants running through as though the building had been there for ages. Since then, he had been walking for how long even he doesn't know. He looked worn, even with the shaded glasses covering his eyes. Most of his positions where inside a plain, brown sack; everything else was what he worn. His white collared shirt that was neatly tucked into his pants, suspenders showing and a brown fedora hat on his head.
And now, animals standing upright where just a little ways before him; coming in his direction. Part of him was shocked at this, since it wasn't something someone would see normally. But there was another half that naggingly said that he knew of such things existing. Like it was nothing new or special. This made him moan, taking his glasses off as he began to rub the bridge of his nose. He already felt like a headache was coming on. |

RE: On the road to knothole
Vanessa let out snort. "You don't know who we are? The east side gunz is only the bestest gang in Radical city. You couldn't throw a stone with out hitting one of us." She was walking backwards with her arms in the air in an exasperated manner. "What am I gonna do with yah, Glow-face. You don't know nothin'."
A smile crept up on the cat's face. "Yer like a lil' brother! okay from now on, just call me big sis Vanessa!" |
