Smirking smirking smirking
I don't get it.

From my personal experience, whenever someone chooses to say their character smiles smugly, they almost always choose the word "smirk". Why? If it's only used on occasion, that's fine, but I seem to run into it several times during any given topic. Why not "grinned mischievously" or "faintly smiled" or "flashed his teeth" or just plain "smiled with smugness"? Whenever we're about to get into a fight scene or we're already in one, the chance of that word showing up nears 100%.

This is just a personal rant and pet peeve of mine. I get annoyed every time I see the word 'smirk' now, and I think I would ban it from this board's vocabulary if there weren't any repercussions for it.

I suppose I'm just making a feeble request as your admin to try mixing up your language some. Oh, and feel free to point out what words I use too much if I'm being a hypocrite XD I know I need to stop using the words "bulging eyes" so much to indicate surprise, for starters.

LIMITED VOCABULARY FTW!!!-shot-

I dunno. I will agree with you on that, but my problem is either A: hurry to post, B: can't think up of something else to say, C: lazy, or D: I like 'smirk'. "D-shot-.

Not to mention it's the shortess way to describe a devious half smile. I just simply liked the word since I learned it. And God only knows I'm repetitive like crazy. It hurts, but I always find myself not knowing what to put instead of something I always use. Hence why I don't write professionally.
