When the robot saw Sonic stopping in front of it, a small laser gun popped out from a hatch just above the spybot's camera. It fired a barrage of shots at the hedgehog to get him to stop running in circles. The spybot learned from its earlier experience that it had to beware of the wind created by Sonic's running speed.

At this time, it had slowed down so as not to run into the current before Sonic had stopped, but also heard a crunching sound behind it. Turning, the spybot saw Knuckles climbing his way up the wall, making loud crumbling and crunching sounds as his fists dug into the stone walls.

Seeing this, the spybot turned back in Sonic's direction, went into a dive to avoid Knuckles, then curved back upwards to go high over Sonic's head again.

[Hey guys, what's the holdup? Sonic, maybe you should post. We've been waiting about seven days now, so we can skip over Alpha and Tails this round if needs be.]

Sonic was soon was hoping about, as he stopped running and started jumping in order to dodge the barge of laser. In surprise, he exclaimed, not paying attention to the spybot.

“Damn! I don’t remember asking –you- for any dancing lessons! In fact, I didn’t even know you could!”

After seemingly almost getting hit by the thing as it dived, Sonic jumped backwards in order to get out of the way. He let out a sigh of relief as he wiped his forehead, before he realized he was letting the robot get away.

“Oh no you don’t!”

He turned back around and started off running hard, trying to get up to speed in order to start running up the wall.

Seeing the robot dive away, Knuckles jumped off the wall and glided overhead. When he was above the robot, he dropped straight down, hand outstretched to try and catch it.

Tails returns to search the cave for any signs of a master emerald shard. He looks for it and realizes that the dirt is hot where the shards did fly through. With some search, he sees something green in the dirt.

Tails clings to the dirt and digs. He finds nothing. He looks around. "Where is everyone?"

As Knuckles descended downwards, he finally managed to catch the thing, landing roughly on the stone floor as if he were playing in a game of football. The robot struggled to break loose however, igniting its hovering engines at full power and becoming quite hot at the same time.

It couldn't be heard over the noise from the engine, but the spy bot's internal hard drive spun extremely fast as well.

In a nearby corridor, someone watched the following on a small computer monitor.

(Alpha said he would get around to posting. For now, I’ll post. Sorry guys, writer blocks are never a good thing.)

Sonic would stop, only a little past Knuckles as he managed to tackle the robot to the ground. Seeing as the robot was struggling, Sonic went over to try and help him hold it down. But to his displeasure, as soon as he had touched it he fell back; reacting to reflex.

“Geez! That’s hot!!”

He quickly got back up, ignoring the pain as he looked toward Knuckles somewhat concerned.

“Maybe now’s a good time to crush whatever keeps this thing from flying. Other than that shutting it off…”

Just as Sonic was finishing his sentence, Knuckles grabbed the robot by the engine and tore it right off the machine and crushed it in his hand before tossing it aside, ignoring the blistering heat that had built up.

Agitated by the robot's retaliation and at his slightly burned hand, Knuckles asked, "Can we use this thing or can I crush the rest of it?"

Having been passed up long ago by both Sonic and Knuckles, Omega was just catching up to them in time to see it separated from its engine. He stared at it from behind the duo, and looked around for anything it might have dropped, not finding anything but the crushed engine.

"Did it do anything?"

With its engine gone, the spybot gave one last useless sputter before it powered down. Now that they had time to look at it, they'd clearly see the Robotnik symbol on its side, leaving no doubt as to who was behind this.

CONNECTION LOST...

"Damn! Work you piece of junk!" A sultry female voice echoed through the hall, as a hand slapped the side of the laptop's screen a few times.

"What's the matter?" This voice sounded masculine, and in a slightly husky tone. It seemed that Robotnik hadn't sent just his robots this time to do this job.

"Sonic and his bumbling friends managed to catch the Spybot, and I think one of them accidentally smashed the wireless transmitter. Not to mention it didn't have a fast enough data transmission rate...so I didn't get all the data."

"So what do we do now? Want to try to retrieve the hard drive manually?"

"Are you crazy? We saw Sonic, Knuckles, Tails, and...some other guy...all together from the spybot's viewpoint. No way we can take on all of them. I say we slip out of here before they realize we're around. Where was the contact point again? I forget."

"The Launch Base zone. You know, where Robotnik had the Death Egg set up before?"

"Right... Well, let's get going."

The laptop got slammed shut, extinguishing the screen's warm glow and hiding the two figures from view. Before long they were on the move and rushing towards the palace's exit.
