Hidden Palace

[Dr. Robotnik]

[Time to shake things up a bit ]

Some distance behind the quartet, a slight whirring noise could be heard in the darkness. However, whatever it was kept its distance, so as not to be heard by the group. When Alpha had given the shards to Sonic, a camera lens could be heard zooming in to get a closer look.

The machine's internal computer paused to look at a screen grab from the video feed. The emerald shards shone as bright red on the otherwise green-tinted image. CHAOS ENERGY DETECTED flashed in bright red above the highlighted shards. As the group rushed towards the shrine, their follower came into the light. An observer would note the profile of one of Robotnik's spy bots. This particular bot had been following the group quietly for a little while now, slowly gathering intel.

It continued to follow the heroes until it got to the shrine, where it paused at the doorway, to make itself less visible. The bot quickly scanned its camera all over the shrine to capture data, especially noting the Master Emerald had disappeared again.

[Alpha Omega]

Omega slowly shuffled around the shrine, taking in the sights, and trying to get over his amazement long enough to look for any clues. For the most part though, he stood off to the side, not wanting to get in the way, especially since he didn't know where anything was.

"Well, uh... It doesn't look like there was a normal explosion, or anything... No giant holes in the walls..."

[Tails]

Tails flies around the shrine and observes things on the cracks and crevices on the top. He reaches for the dirt and feels around. It feels hot.

Tails lands on the shrine where Knuckles and Sonic are with some sweat droplets. "Knuckles, the signs of the emerald are on the top walls. The dirt around some areas are hot. I don't know if there'll be any emeralds in the vicinity, but I do know that its all over the land. I'll keep looking and you can help me Knuckles."

[Sonic]

Sonic seemed to shrug, before grabbing the shards and looked at them.

“Well, at least we’ve got these shards.” Sonic said aloud, looking over towards Knuckles. “Red-head, you ‘think that these shards would help you locate any pieces of the master Emerald? I know that you can track emeralds with emeralds…”


He clenched his fist as he looked over the area completely. Soon he would be facing in the direction in which they came. His eyes widened with curiosity as he blinked. He couldn’t see much from the distance and the angle he was at, but he was pretty sure that he was seeing something floating.

Turning back around towards Knuckles and Tails, Sonic lifted up his index finger.

“...Once sec.”

Once again turned around, Sonic zoomed straight for the entrance; going a little farther than he need too.

[Knuckles]

Knuckles curiously watched Sonic run off in the direction they came from. After a moment he turned to Alpha and Tails. "I can sense the emeralds and their shards, but it'll take some effort to track them down. That's how I sensed the shards on Alpha Omega when we first met. The real challenge will be obtaining them before they fall into the wrong hands."

Knuckles turned again to where Sonic had run off. "I wonder what got his attention? Alpha Omega, do you think your friend managed to followed us down here?"

[Dr. Robotnik]

[Careful Alpha. You skipped over me there. Remember I'm in the topic now.]

When Sonic dashed through the doorway, the spybot got completely thrown for a loop by the wind generated. It twirled all around in circles, before coming to a stop just inside the shrine's room. Now it would be in complete view of anyone gazing towards the doorway. The spybot actually made eye contact with the three still on top of the high shrine.

Beeping in alarm, it quickly turned tail and swiftly buzzed back down the entrance corridor, making sure to fly high up near the ceiling where Sonic wouldn't be able to get a good shot at it.

[Alpha Omega]

[I really don't think I skipped you. Sorry if it seems like I did, but in character, I wouldn't have noticed anything strange, other than Sonic dashing off, so I only answered Knuckles' question.]

Omega stared at the machine, a little dumbstuck. He'd never expected to see one on the island, let alone in such an important place. "A... a robot? A robot! Maybe it did something to the Master Emerald?"

He jumped down from atop the shrine, and ran down the hall after it, certainly not setting any land speed records however.

[Tails]

Tails raises his fist in the air. "Don't worry, we'll find the master emerald shards."

(deleted what I knew would be uncertain of staying in).

[Sonic]

[thank you. "D]

Sonic would once again blink in confusion as he looked around, wondering where the object had gone. He would soon hear a strange sound that made him look behind. He saw as the eyebot quickly went through the entrance and then begin to fly high above his head. A few seconds his face was blank before a wide, mischievous grin appeared.


“Tryin’ to run away from me? Like you had a chance!”


Sonic would dash out front, attempting to head the eyebot off. Once he would be a fair amount away, he turned on a time and began to run in a small circle. Of course, he didn’t think about it creating any kind of suction, nor did he think about how dizzy it was going to make him. For now, he was more concerned about making sure the robot didn’t get away.

[Knuckles]

Knuckles noticed the robot and jumped high in the air and glided across the room to the wall nearest to it, grabbed on and began climbing after it. When he was high enough, he would try to jump off and catch it.
