Omega looked a bit ashamed, and looked down at his own feet.

"Well, not like either of us can do anything with them. Not JUST these shards anyway. Besides, last thing I'd ever do would be to let any of Robotnik's forces get their tin claws on these."

He scratched the back of his head, and turned his head away a bit to try and hide the color coming into his cheeks.

Tails asks. "Why on earth would that other hedgehog want to sell these chaos emerald pieces? You know Sonic goes super with those emeralds. That's one of the reasons we've lasted this long. Tell us Knuckles, why would he sell them?"

The expression on Sonic’s face turned to confusion as he looked at Omega. He didn’t quite know what to make of his discussion about the shards. Even he questioned his sealing of the shards, but then again he wasn’t much for money (or any need for it). Even so, it wasn’t really a bad thing if it wasn’t going to Eggman. Looking at Knuckles and seeing his reaction, Sonic shook his head.

“Like you haven’t done worse?” Sonic said with a grin on his face. “I distinctly remember a certain red echidna punching me in the face and stealing all the Chaos Emeralds… for Eggman, no less!”

Turning back to Omega, he shrugged his shoulders. “Well, really there’s nothing wrong with that. But whoever you sell them too will either A: Be a bad apple, or B: Have Eggman or any other baddies will be knocking at their doorstep. So either way, people get hurt in some form or fasion.”

He didn’t feel like scorning him, since he already seemed to feel bad for it judging by his reaction. And he didn’t seem like a bad person. He felt like the guy simply didn’t know what to do, and decided on something that came to his mind. He didn’t seem like he was going to sell them for quick money, otherwise he probably would have been more secretive about it; and run away from Knuckles.

"... well, yeah, I guess. I never really thought about what would happen AFTER I got rid of them. Then again, I never actually saw myself getting off this island to sell them in the first place."

Knuckles felt a bit ashamed now, remembering for the second time today his first encounter with Sonic.

"Yes... well... I was tricked, and you did have your rematch with me to set me straight. As long as they don't wind up in the wrong hands, I really don't care what happens to those shards." Knuckles says a bit flustered.

"You'd be better off holding on to those rather than selling them anyway, they might benefit you someway besides increasing your wealth" Knuckles says to Alpha.

Tails asks Knuckles. "Do you know why the island fell? If this Alpha character has the chaos emeralds in shards, then do you think that the master emerald could have done the same thing?"

"Three times now." Knuckles says while thinking to himself.

"Once by Robotnic to release Chaos, and once by my own hand to keep it out of his. And it was shattered again by the Gizoid Emerl, you hoped to use it to help you against him as I recall."

"Oh, wow... I didn't think the Master Emerald could be shattered... I thought it was kinda... Too powerful for that."

Tails scratches behind his ear. "This must be the fourth time the master emerald has shattered. Alpha, the master emerald is more of a controller of the other chaos emeralds, but it isn't invincible."
