Child's Play
OH MY GAWD, I'VE WROTE A FANFIC!!!

AND I ACTUCALLY MANAGED TO WRITE AN -ENTIRE- CHAPTER!!!!

O:

Yes, and I have to say I enjoyed writing it. Mainly because I started makeing jokes about what I had written; most of them being a bit on the adult-ish side. Not to mention the chapter is considerably long. Not bookish material long, but still a fairly good size in my opion. Wether I'll finish this or not, is a matter quite open. I doubt I will, but at the same time, the fact that I managed to sit down and WRITE it.... Well, I just don't do that often. Either way, if you choose to go forth and read, than read and enjoy you SHALL!
I hope. The only summary you'll get is that it is a Dr. Robotnik centered fanfic, and the setting is in the game universe. It's serious and humours at points. Hope you enjoy~ Rose

WARNING: THIS STORY IS RATED T FOR TEEN DUE TO MILD CURSING.

CHILD'S PLAY

Chapter 1: Falling Cradels

The scene had a little too much destruction than he liked, but how could he complain at the view? The night sky was clear, the moon in its first quarter and the sky seemingly a-blaze as a fire raged in the distance. He could smell the smoke from a far off distance as he watched something out of an oil painting take place. He smirked ever so slightly. There was no way that damn, blue, irritable, cocky, blue hedgehog would pass up such a disaster. Especially since his bumbling, robotic fools where crawling everywhere near it; causing hell to whoever was close to it. A perfect distraction, even if too much mindless destruction was being wrecked. After all, it was only some woods; who would miss it?

Dr. Eggman.

He perked up slightly as he heard the robotic, monotone voice; turning around to see his creation. He was going to ask the robotic brute, but stopped as soon as he saw what had answered his question. Smirking, he then replied to his metal creation.

“Yes, I see you have acquired the child. Good, good…”

‘…You’re not a complete waste after all.’ He thought sardonically.

“Tell me, how did it all go?”

The parents were not home, and the child was already asleep.” It replied back; unemotional and robotic. His smirk got a little wider as he took a few steps forward to get a closer look, making sure his steps where light as he crossed over on the metal hover platform. Looking down, he got a good view of the child. The small girl was cradled in the robot’s arms; a soft, peaceful expression on her face as she slept soundly. She must have been only three feet in height with long, thick black hair which was in a partial pony-tail that was held in a bow. The dress she was wearing looked like an old fashioned, lacy summer-time dress that was a light, canary yellow color and ended just a little below her knees. Though strangely she wore white, knee high socks with black, buckled dress shoes. Just a little angle that had no clue what kind of devilish hands she was in.

“What sort of parents go off and leave such a precious little child all alone!” he said aloud in a mocking tone of voice. Though as happy as he may seem, he was not enjoying this; not in the least. In fact, he felt slightly humiliated at the whole thing. He, the greatest mind that this decade had ever seen, was reduced to kidnapping. Oh sure, he had kidnapped that rabbit and her chao friend as well as the blue hedgehog’s little girlfriend, but that was all under different circumstances. Most of the time, it was for bait; to lure Sonic out or to have something to pull on him to make his job a lot harder. This though…this was simply lowering him onto a different level. This girl had no ties to Sonic, only ties to one of the richest people in the world. His smirk soon turned into a frown. It was surprising how a little thing like money could make you fall so hard. If that blasted military wouldn’t have cracked down on his secret bank accounts, then he wouldn’t have been reduced to this! Okay, granted, he could of just waited for his different “businesses” to regain the money he had lost, but that would takes weeks, even months before he would have enough to stock back on materials for his creations. And personally, hiding in a bunker for weeks and months waiting for the money to begin to flow wasn’t his idea of a vacation; it was torture.

Doctor.

Snapping out of thought, he looked up at the bot with a deep frown. “Yes, yes right. We’ll be leaving now. Send a message out to get the craft ready in the air now. Best to go before anything goes wrong.” ‘Other than the fact that this was already wrong as it is.’ He thought to himself in a gruff manner. Who was to say he couldn’t turn back and just leave the little brat out in the field? It seemed like a better alternative than to hear constant screaming and crying from a girl. But no, he would go through with this. ‘After all, how hard would it be to deal with a five year old for two weeks?’, He was thinking to himself, ‘It’s not like the child is going to be hanging around with you constantly.’ He let out a slight grunt at his own thoughts. Yes, just as much as his robots where perfect babysitters. He let out a sigh.

He could hear the large, thumps that were the robots footsteps which snapped him out of deep thought again. He had to quit doing that while out on the field. No pun intended. He blinked, before he realized that the fool was carrying the child off with itself. “Hey, Hey- -Stop-!!” Dr. Robotnik shouted out slightly flustered. The robot stopped dead in its tracks as it slowly turned back towards the doctor who had closed what small distance that the robot made. His hover platform had glided smoothly over the grassy field, as he crossed him arms and stopped right in front of his creation.

Yes, Doctor.” It replied late, once again unemotional and monotone.

Sneering, Dr. Robotnik took another step forward as he got as close to the edge of the platform and held his right hand out towards it with a serious look on his face. “Hand the child over to me!! Like I’m going to have this plan be fumbled because I let something like –you- in charge of keeping the kid; it’s best left to me!” And oh how he wished he could have taken that statement back and let the robot deal with her. But he couldn’t risk Sonic coming out of nowhere and suddenly ruining the entire thing.

Yes, Doctor.

The robot slowly picked the girl up with its left hand, as he held the girl out towards Robotnik as though she was a ragdoll. He quickly took the child from the bot, cradling her in his own arms, afraid that the stupid nut-brain had possible hurt the girl with the way it was handling her. Then again, his robots weren’t supposed to handle things with kid gloves.

Pun intended.

He smirked slightly to himself as he held the girl safely in his right arm as he walked back to the center of the hover platform; looking towards the blaze off in the distance. He was surprised it was still going; as much as he was surprised the girl was so light. Sure she was a child-and children with her small, tiny frame didn’t weigh much- but she seemed considerable lighter than what he thought. Heck, he could hold her in just one arm, just as his robot lackey had with no trouble at all. Though, unlike his lackey, he had muscles; and he didn’t know how long his muscles would be able to keep his arm is position before he would want to drop her. Looking down at the peaceful kid just briefly, he looked back up, turning his head back to the direction the robot was heading. He had a sickened expression as he waited to be able to see the air craft finally come into view. Though in view it had not come, as he sighed looking forward once again.

It seemed as though he was waiting forever for the craft; just as it seemed like the fire he had managed to start had been going on forever. It was spreading well though, he had to admit. At least he could be noted on the news for burning some woods AND kidnapping instead of just kidnapping-.

He held his breath for a second as he took a couple of steps forward. The expression turned to a slight daze. What was that he—His question stopped, because just as soon as he asked, he knew. Frowning slightly with his eyesbrows burrowing into his skull, he began to seethe. The whole wood seemed to become engulfed in a sudden whirlwind; the flames which were spreading and seemingly getting higher into the sky began to dwindle down rapidly. He smiled even though his eyesbrows( or lack thereof) continued to burrow there way deeper and deeper. He had to give him –some- credit. At least the hedgehog was able to conceive the properties of chemical reactions. And before his eyes he watched as the blaze came to a stop, and soon the wind rushing through the trees with it. He was stilled again. If the wind had stopped….

He quickly looked back towards the direction the robot had gone off too. The ship was in the air( finally he might add), but it was no reason to celebrate. Anxiety took hold of him as he felt his heart to begin to race. When he thought there would be a chance that the hedgehog wouldn’t notice anything in his direction; it was soon crashed as the very small airship was in a clear view. Which would mean, he would come straight this-

He quickly looked forward, seeing a blue blur in the distance heading straight his way; as though he was a bullet shot straight for him. “Damn it…” he mumbled under his breath as he began to get the hover platform to rise up enough off the ground where Sonic wouldn’t reach (unless he tried hard enough). But he had only managed to get halfway of where he wanted before he ended up stopping it.

“Hey, Egghead!! How’re things goin’?”

Sneering mental, he looked down on the hedgehog only being somewhere around seven feet off the ground. He put on his best grin as his eyebrows lightened up; but not so much that he looked like some kind of a saint. Sonic the Hedgehog, his long time –thon-in-his-side- rival, was looking up at him with a smirk on his face and a green fire in his eyes. He could tell he wasn’t happy at his little moonlight blaze; just as much as he probably saw that it was for no real good reason. Snickering, Dr. Robotnik ignored his name calling and answered out to him.

“Quite fine, actually.” He started off, his grin getting a little bit larger, “I hate that you ruined the scenic view I created though. I didn’t even get to take a picture of it.”

Sonic smirk was now at its full length. Oh how much he wanted to blow his face off when he saw it. His eyes glistened though. Ah, he was surprised. Though, it would have looked to anyone else as though his expression had not changed; but Robotnik knew him long enough to see through Sonic’s small twitches of emotions that he wanted to hide from him. Fair enough though, since Sonic could probably tell he wanted to strangle his non-existent neck. How funny; what was the point of using a poker face with each other when they both could read the other.

“Well you ruined a scenic view for me by starting that thing!” Sonic replied back, with his usually cocky tone, “what I want to know is what you’re doin’ in the middle of nowhere with that kid!”

He noticed. ****--

Robtonik’s grin turned into a smirk, “Wouldn’t you like to know?” This was –not- good. He had to distract the hedgehog before he would notice the ship coming straight towards him. He did at least think of putting a little ‘surprise’ if the hedgehog managed to reach him; but it was on the ship. Why was it that he wanted to stay behind instead of going back to the ship? Oh yeah…..because he wasn’t thinking about it. Damn it—

“You know, I never thought you sink to this kind of low, Ro-butt-nik.” Sonic exclaimed as he closed his eyes and began to itch his nose by rubbing his index over the base of his nose.

“You –wound- me hedgehog.” Dr. Robotnik put on a hammy face as though he was hurt by his comment; even though he did feel a little bit of his ego fly away at that one. He took his chance seeing the hedgehog had let his guard down as he put his left hand behind his back. As he did so he nudged his arm against it and quickly caught three small white orbs; which were about the size of a medium bouncy ball that had two lines crossing each other and emitted an amber glow. He waited for his chance as the conversation continued on.

“But really? What are you trying to pull here?” the blue blur started, opening his eyes and resting his clenched fists on his sides. “There are no robots around, no giant mechs to destroy,…and you’re just sitting out here like a duck. Usually, you have something up your sleeve—unless you just haven’t used it yet.”

“Are you accusing me of cheating, hedgehog!” exclaimed the doctor in a hurt-yet joyous-tone. Of course, the hedgehog wasn’t –actually- referring to what he had in his sleeve; though he had to admit he should have started thinking so. He tried not to flinch or give himself away as the line did startle him slightly.

Sonic smirked. “I’m accusing you of being a rotten egg in general, -Doc-.”

Dr. Robotnik let out a loud laugh. “You may be right on that one!” he shouted out, hearing as the ship finally over his head. Of course the ship caught the hedgehog’s attention, but he didn’t have to worry about that any longer. Smiling sinisterly, he continued on, “But you really start paying attention more, boy! You let your guard down in an –inch-, and I’ll throw every card I have tucked in my-SLEEVES!!”

Before the blue hedgehog could even react, Dr. Robotnik quickly threw the three small orbs in his hands straight on the ground at Sonic’s feet. His shut his eyes quickly, for as soon as the spheres hit the ground they flashed as an extremely white light washed over him with a wave of heat. He began to back up, away from the blinding light, trying desperately to get his eyesight back quickly. At first, he thought Robotnik had thrown down flash bombs; but the light, even after they had gone off, was still glowing. And it was strong. He kicked himself for not seeing something like that coming. How ironic it was he said exactly what Robotnik had; something up his sleeves. He should of known that was what his slight change in emotion meant. Now he was paying the price for not being prepared. The earth shook tremendously under his feet, as it sounds as though the planet had gotten thumped three times. He fell backwards at the tremor, hitting the ground a little harder than he would have liked. He could still sense light through his closed eyelids, though it was diffidently softer than before. Smoke was beginning to fill his nostrils again which made the blue hedgehog blot up in an upright postion; finally opening his eyes.

Robotnik was gone, which wasn’t surprising. Where the spheres had hit-and the area around it- was now in a blaze; and the rest of the dry, grassy field was quickly catch on. But to add to it, three enormous size robotic knights stood behind the small barrier of fire. All three held knightly shields with Robotnik’s emblem centered perfectly in the middle, but each with a different shape. One held a heater shield, with a gigantic sword in its hand. Another had a diamond shaped shield with a medieval looking morning star, and the last held a scutum shield and held a lancing rod. All three, though, had the same armor, and the same beady red eyes that seemed to stare through the blue hedgehogs. Sonic smirked slightly as he got up; ready to battle the three giants that Robotnik had left for him to play with.

“O-kay Eggman,” he began with a more serious tone in his voice, “I’ll give you a head start. But if I found out you did something to that little kid, you better start hoping you can run away fast enough. ‘Cause I won’t let you off the hook for this one!”
