Queen Jijeka-Te
Name: Jijeka-Te III (jhee-JHEH-kuh TAY) (often abbreviated as Ji)
Age: 11 Gender: Female Species: Frilled lizard Faction: None Alignment: Neutral Appearance: Ji's primary body color is a roughly tan color. Her eyes are brown, and she is flat-chested (of course she's flat-chested; she's a reptile, she wouldn't have breasts). She bears a complete circle of frills around her neck, about twice as large as her head and less than an inch thick, and angled forwards at about a 45-degree angle. She wears what could only be described as full Egyptian pharaoh regalia: a gold jeweled crown, a pale white top and short pants with dull golden trim, and a few bracelets to match. She does not wear anything on her hands or feet. Personality: Ji is rather mature for her age. She has a strong sense of ethics and insists on helping out whenever she can. She tries hard not to get caught up in her role as pharaoh, but she occasionally slips if something ticks her off. She is very strong-willed and will go to the ends of the earth for something she believes in. She is also somewhat of a tomboy. She seems to be having trouble adjusting to her new world and often forgets how far away she is from home, although Anu is quick to remind her. When she is conscious of the time difference, she occasionally gets wrapped up in nostalgia and reminisces about her former life. Family: No living relatives. Transport: None. Weapons: Crook and flail - The standard symbols of Egyptian royalty. Ji requested that hers be specially crafted so that they could be functional as well as symbolic. Both are about thirty inches long and made of gold-coated metal, as well as decorated with colored bands to match her clothes. The crook she can wield like a staff; the flail needs no introduction. When she's not using them, she keeps them strapped to her sides. Biography: Ji's story began hundreds of years ago, in the times of Egyptian pyramids and so forth. She was born as Princess Jijeka-Te III, the daughter of the current pharaoh, Jijeka-Te II. As Ji's mother was an important royal figure, she did not have much time to spend with her daughter. Ji spent most of her free time wandering the area and seeing what life was like outside, and was extremely put off by the terrible conditions some of the slaves were forced to toil under. She knew this was wrong, but her mother always dismissed Ji's complaints and assured her that it was simply the way things went. Ji knew it was wrong, but she had no chance to set it right... until that fateful day when Jijeka-Te II was murdered by a vengeful slave, leaving the then eight-year-old princess to succeed the throne. Although being ushered into pharaohhood at such a young age was quite a responsibility for her, she felt like she had been waiting for that day her entire life. Upon taking the throne, Ji began her vast political movement. She slackened the responsibilities of all the slaves, and encouraged the upper class to put their share of work in as well. She even joined in the work herself whenever she had the opportunity. All was good, and Ji seemed a pleasant breather compared to her tyrannical predecessors. A few years later, Ji was in the middle of a noontime feast when a sudden flash of light blinded everyone present. When the light cleared, Ji, her royal assistant Anu, and a large portion of the table had vanished. Those present, knowing nothing of the cause, concluded that the gods had chosen to annihilate the Queen for disrupting the status quo. Of course, the true cause had been the Shattering. Everything that the light whisked away, Ji included, was pulled forwards in time and dumped rather unceremoniously in the middle of the Higara Grasslands. Since then, Ji and Anu have been roughing it, living off what they could salvage of the feast and searching for civilization. Moves/Combat: As Ji is not a strong fighter, she relies heavily on improvisation and tactics to dispose of her enemies. One of her favorite strategies is to stay out of range and dodge rapidly until her opponent gets frustrated and drops its guard, then rush in and strike. Skills: Glide - Ji can use the frills on her neck as a cape to catch the wind and glide about. She's very good at using the wind currents to carry her where she wants to go, and can stay in the air indefinitely if the wind is strong enough. However, she can't carry much weight with her or she'll be too heavy to stay aloft. Strengths and weaknesses: +Intelligent +Extremely agile in strong winds +High tolerance for heat -Physically weak -Low tolerance for cold NPC Name: Anu (uh-NOO) (it's an abbreviated version of Anubis) Age: 24 Gender: Male Species: Stag beetle Appearance: Anu is a black beetle, a few inches taller than Ji but not significantly more muscular. His forehead bears a Y-shaped "horn" of sorts that sticks about ten degrees shy of straight up when he's standing up straight. The horn is about a foot long in full, about five inches between the tips, forks at about a fifty-degree angle before bending back to parallel, and about an inch thick in almost every area; it also has dull but slightly barbed tips. (His horn is not considered part of his height elsewhere in this description.) His inner wings are transparent, but his outer wings are opaque and the same black as the rest of his main body; his full wingspan just inches slightly less than his height. His eyes are brown. He wears a beige bandanna with a few Egyptian glyphs printed in black on it (the glyphs mean "intelligence"); other than that, he wears no clothes. Personality: Anu has a lot of sense and a very analytical mind; he's a character of thought over action. He's had a much easier time adjusting to the new world than the Queen has, and brings her back to reality whenever necessary. Despite being much older than Ji, he consciously avoids treating her like a child, and is quick to discourage others from doing the same. He does his best not to get caught up in the past, focusing instead on the present; he still calls Ji by the appropriate royal titles out of habit. He has somewhat of a sage's aura about him, even though he's only 24; that he was selected as royal adviser was most likely because of these traits. Relation to Ji: Royal assistant Skills: Flight - Anu can use his inner wings to hover in the air for a moment. Being somewhat stronger and heavier than Ji and having actual wings, he has significantly more control in the air than she does, air currents notwithstanding, and can carry a bit more with him. He's a little slow in the air, though, and can only stay airborne for up to 10-15 seconds at a time. Uses: Will help to keep the Queen's mind in the present, and assist her in adapting to the new world. Kitty O'Brien of KBS News. HQ in Station Square, but she appears on every television in the country. Other characters: Jijeka-Te |
