RE: Vacationing with evacuees
Ji and Anu ran out the door after Gail and Tech. They didn't appear discouraged by the fact that there appeared to be no room on the bike for them.
The wind was in their favor, so Ji expanded her frills and rode the air currents, with Anu flying behind. (Exit also, I guess) The Shattering screwed up time something awful. RE: Vacationing with evacuees
[From Priscilla's shop]
Gail panted and wheezed and grunted from all the injuries he'd gotten in that fight with the beast at the shop. If Tech wasn't here, he wasn't sure if he'd have made it back to her house. "Tech...since we failed...is there any other backup in the town you know of? Do you have any other cop friends around here who could...fight him?" |

RE: Vacationing with evacuees
I reply. "Gail, I work in Soleanna and I'm on vacation for two weeks. I shouldn't have even been working today and besides, I don't have jurisdiction here. That beast fox is probably the only threat Higara Grasslands has ever got, so I doubt that there's other cops here."
I set Gail in my couch. "We shouldn't worry about that beast fox. Just let him get what he needs so he can leave. All you need to worry about is recovery." I am a cop, if you break the law you better watch out. Don't mind my avatar, I don't draw that well. |

RE: Vacationing with evacuees
Jijeka-Te and Anu touched down easily in front of the house. Ji entered first, and stared at Tech with her arms folded, having overheard just enough of their conversation.
(Ji) "And you call yourself an agent of justice. Any soldier worth his badge should have been willing to defend what's right to the very end." "Your Highness, please!" Anu interrupted. "You saw how much damage he did! If we'd stuck around we'd have been pulverized! I'm not saying justice isn't important, but so is our own well-being! Some risks just aren't worth taking!" RE: Vacationing with evacuees
Gail groaned as he was laid down on the couch. After getting his back whacked by that step on the front of the shop, it still felt quite tender. Still, he attempted to get over it as fast as he could...laying down and sitting very still so the injury wouldn't be too irritated.
It was then that Ji walked right in and started complaining. Gail sighed at her bringing this kind of crap up, especially now. Thankfully though Anu also called her out on what she was saying. "Thank you...Anu." The wolf still knew he had to go catch up with Giichi, but he really couldn't move right now. Besides, he wanted Tech's company a little while longer, and he'd need a good way to think up how to make a graceful exit. He gratefully smiled at her from behind, not really lending much to the conversation. He'd need a minute for now. |

RE: Vacationing with evacuees
I ignore Ji and Anu for now. There's larger things to fry. I walk into the kitchen and take out the fried chicken from the fryer with tongs, place it into a plate and give the chicken to Gail. "You need this more than I do. Do you want me to hand feed you or do you think you can handle it yourself? Either way, I need to heat up the potatoes on the stove."

RE: Vacationing with evacuees
Oh yeah... Ji had forgotten all about the chicken. She and Anu graciously stepped back, and he eyed her.
(Anu) "Your Highness, you were never this bold and reckless before we ended up in this world." (Ji) "Well, there I knew how things worked. Here I'm surrounded by alien technology. Don't you have urges to explore and tinker and find out what things do?" (Anu) "Well, yes, but I have good reason to repress those urges. For all we know-- (he gestured at a reading lamp nearby--) --this might be a devastating weapon, and fiddling with it could destroy everything within miles." (Ji) "..." RE: Vacationing with evacuees
"Huh?"
Gail looked dumbfounded when he saw Tech there with more juicy fried chicken on a plate. Surely it hadn't been cooking THIS long. If it had been in the fryer the entire time they were off to fight that monster, it should be smoking black by now and inedible. "Umm...I'll just try it myself, thanks." He took the plate from her, wincing every now and then from his injuries. The wolf softly took a bite. The outer crust had the perfect crunchy texture, not to mention the inside looked perfectly white. He didn't know how the chicken cooking for like an hour or so looked like this, but he wasn't going to argue right now. As he ate, he listened to what Ji and Anu had to say about the modern technology. Softly chuckling, he chimed in. "Yeah, I'm sure they're building atomic bombs into lamps these days." |

RE: Vacationing with evacuees
I go into the kitchen, turn off the fryer and turn the heat on for the potatoes. Within minutes the potatoes are ready to mash. I decide to let those three to have their moment. If Gail wants to play games with their heads, that's okay. Its less likely that they'll break anything.

RE: Vacationing with evacuees
Of course, neither Ji nor Anu had any idea what an atomic bomb was, but they both glanced up at Gail's snarky comment before returning their attention to the lamp.
(Ji) "...It's a lamp? Where do you put in the oil?" (Anu) "It probably works differently than the ones back home, but the basic principle should still be the same. Please allow me, Your Highness; I'd rather you not break anything." (Ji) "Of course." Anu found the pullchain, figuring it was the ignition, and gave it a gentle, experimental yank. The bulb lit up.
