Vacationing with evacuees

RE: Vacationing with evacuees
(...Leave this topic? Nuts, we just had that fourth wall repainted.)

Anu suddenly stopped Ji as she went for another strip.

"Hold on, Your Highness. We should save some of those strips for the others. We're not the only ones eating, after all."

"...Right. My apologies."

The Shattering screwed up time something awful. A select few were dumped out of their age altogether, a certain Egyptian queen included.

RE: Vacationing with evacuees
Gail brought out the second batch of strips and set the plate down on the table. As he did, he caught Anu stopping Ji from taking another strip, and concealed a small smile with his hand. They did like it after all.

Since the second batch was still burning hot, he took a strip from the cool plate he'd set before Ji and Anu previously.

Hmm...it's a little bit burnt, and the season salt flavor needs more kick, but otherwise I'm happy with it. It's not like they'd know anyway... It's the first time they're eating it.

As he did, he decided to start up a conversation with the Egyptian pair. "So...did you two like it? It's my family's recipe of southern fried chicken strips. I really enjoyed eating it when Mom made it, so I learned it before I moved out."

RE: Vacationing with evacuees
Where ever there was people to be exploited, Priscilla would be there to do the exploiting. The white wolf had set up shop in the small town, preying on those fleeing the battle with Robotnik's forces. Her base of operation was general store. A horribly over priced general store. With good inflated at over 500% of their normal retail value.

Normally a store like this wouldn't have lasted very long, but "bad" things have been happening to every other venue in town. Broken roofs, torn down walls, entire stocks of goods stolen in the night. The moderately sized wooden building had only been open for just over 2 days, so there was little suspicion as to why Priscilla's building remained scathed. It was assumed she be hit in the near future. Though that was unlikely.

Currently in the building a group of people had clamored together to complain about the obscene prices. A single chipmunk was behind the desk trying to quiet the folks. He was a local boy, he didn't want to hurt the towns folk but Priscilla would make sure he and his family would get fed. So he had no choice but to try and get the people to leave. Judging by there angry tone and yelling it seemed he was failing very badly.
"I am sorry people" the chipmunk pleaded "Lady Priscilla says if you don't like the prices, don't shop here."

He was meant with a torrent of responses "Where am I supposed to go??!!" "The other store is trashed!" "This is an outrage, we need supplies!!"

Magnus promptly thanks the entire group and begins to head for the door.

I appreciate the help, and sorry again for barging in. I will stop in again before I leave town and inquire about that bright flash of light.

With that, Magnus heads out the door, hops on his motorcycle and heads off towards SandBox Ln.

I put water inside the pot, place it on a pan and let it boil. "We'll have mashed potatoes soon enough. Maybe once the chicken's done, we'll see. I hope Magnus finds his part at a decent store."

I am a cop, if you break the law you better watch out. Don't mind my avatar, I don't draw that well.

Ji looked up at Gail. "Yes, we liked it very much. It's nothing like anything we've had back home."

Anu nodded affirmatively.

Gail smiled when the two Egyptians said they enjoyed the food.

"Very good. Oh, and I'm sure about you never trying this. I have no idea what you guys would eat. Anyway, I'll have more coming soon."
He walked back into the kitchen, where he resumed looking over the third batch of chicken, before checking on Tech.

[Hmm...I'm running out of ideas here about how to keep this RP interesting. I think we need an excuse to go to that store. How about Tech is out of something we need to make dinner?]

RE: Vacationing with evacuees
[From Battle of Soleanna - Field Hospital]

After leaving the hospital, Giichi had flagged down a taxi, and gave the driver instructions to head to the closest town. This place was it. As the taxi came to a halt on Main Street, he handed the driver a few bills.

"Thank you." Then he saw the commotion at the shop through the driver's windshield. Frowning, he stepped out of the taxi. As the driver took off, Giichi remained on the curb as he watched the scene. It definitely got his attention, but he had business to attend to first. The cat scanned the local businesses, before his eyes finally settled on a cybercafe. Smiling, Giichi walked inside, quickly handed a few more bills to the bored-looking attendant, and got on a machine.

Immediately, he went to look at his email. Someone in the Guild had replied to his email requesting help. Giichi went to look over his details. So...his name was Gail Strafer. The cat studied the mugshot accompanying his profile. Scary-looking wolf, especially with those creepy gold-colored eyes. But hey...Giichi was mostly a thief and not a fighter, so he could use the muscle. The cat replied to the email.

Hello there Gail,

I just saw your email. I'd be glad to have your help on my next mission. I've got a 1969 Ferrari Dino that I currently have hidden in Robotropolis (long story DX), and I'm going to need some help getting it back. It's actually mine, so we won't have to hotwire it or anything, but I need a lookout and someone who can help me fight off Robotnik's bots if we get attacked.

Anyway, I'm currently in the town of--

Giichi blinked. What WAS the name of this town anyway? Funny that...

"Excuse me miss..." Giichi said to the attendant. "Where am I now? I just got into town."

The youth staffing the cafe, a female mouse, looked up from her teen magazine.
"Diamonde...It's like 'Diamond', but with an 'E' on the end."

"Thanks."
He resumed writing his message.

--Diamonde. If that's too far of a ways to go, we can arrange to meet somewhere else. Reply to this fast, ok? That car is a priceless antique, and I really don't want anything to happen to it. Hope to hear back from you soon.

Giichi Twinkieland

With that out of the way, he decided he'd check out the commotion outside. Surely it'd be a while before Gail got back in touch with him anyway. The cat headed towards Priscilla's store.

[Tech, I hope you don't mind me picking a name for this town. Let me know if you'd like it changed.]

RE: Vacationing with evacuees
Priscilla emerged from the back of the store. A very displeased look on her face, though she retained an elegant look. She walked with a light sway in her hips, with her arms crossed over her ample chest.

"Tch, Have not I told you wretches?" each word she spoke oozed with disgust " If you require these provisions, then pay. Elseways dare not waste my time with your tumultuous prattling."

The crowd gritted their teeth collectively, Priscilla had a commanding presence about her. Like she was untouchable. One of the animals in the crowd stepped forward, it was clear he was past the point of talking and wished to pass the line into actions. The chipmunk quickly got into his way. "You can't do that! Otherwise 'He'll' come out." It seemed the mere action of alluding to the figure shook the chipmunk to his core.

Knowing people can only be pushed so far before they would take a stand, thus not pay, thus become useless to the wolf, Priscilla decided she should try and calm the situation.

"The act of business is harsh." her tone quickly shifted to a more compassionate one. Covering her heart with her hands "Made even more comfortless by these trying times. I could allow these goods halved."

The crowd calmed a bit, an air of perplexity took over. Even at half price the prices where still high, but no on wanted a riot. They all seemed to question if they should buy or not.

Lady Priscilla smiled to herself a thought entering her greedy mind "Never it be said I was not benevolent at times."

RE: Vacationing with evacuees
Magnus drove by and saw the crowd amassed around the white wolf and decided it was worth checking out. He came to a halt on the side of the road, dismounted his motorcycle and began walking toward the front of the crowd. After listening for a couple of minutes and overhearing that this was a general store, Magnus decided to go ahead and ask the impatient looking wolf about what he needed.

"I'm looking for a part for my motorcycle, do you sell those here? I'll pay whatever I have to for them, I spend my coin on little else than food, parts, and shelter so I have plenty."
