Egg Ship 5
((This topic will be for activity on Egg Ship 5 during the Soleanna battle. The original topic will be for fighting in the air around the air ships. Falina, you should post after me.))

Giichi tapped his foot on the wall behind them. The sound was hollow. Seemed their alcove had a vent in it. "I'm going to try to get this open." As he said this, he withdrew his trusty crowbar from under his cloak. "Cover me, please?" Despite the situation, he said this politely, and with a small smile. They could have been at a formal function.

Without waiting for an answer, the cat dived downwards, thrusting the crowbar into a slot. He grunted hard, as he tried to pry the thing open.

In the meantime, they'd notice the swatbots' footsteps were getting very loud. Falina would be able to leap out and engage in hand to hand combat, at this range.

Falina nods to Giichi and turns around to face the alcove's opening into the hallway. Her ears are perked high and they twitch a little at the sound of the approaching SWATbots. She knew they had to be really close. As quietly as she could, considering hooves on a metal floor don't make for good stealth, she inches toward the corner of the wall and peeks around it with one eye, looking at the bots. She backs into the alcove and waits for them to come close enough for her to surprise them When they are just about to be upon the alcove, she leaps out and stabs her blade into the chest of one of the SWATbots. She runs into a bit of trouble though, as she feels a cold metallic grip tighten around her arms as she's trying to pull her blade from the bot. Before she can even react, the bot has already lifted her into the air and is about to try and stun her. Falina flails her legs, trying to kick the bot and make it let her go, but to no avail. "Um... Giichi... Little help here?" She says in a worried tone, hoping he can do something while the bot has it's hands full keeping her restrained. She wonders if it's already sent out a request for backup.

RE: Egg Ship 5
When Giichi heard Falina's cry, he winced. There were reasons why he wanted her to do most of the fighting. He was very fast, but he also only had average strength and injured easily. And swatbots definitely looked a lot tougher to fight than maintenance bots.

So, with a bit of hesitation, he turned around to see what Falina had gotten herself into. A swatbot held her in one hand, while it aimed a stun gun at her with the other. He felt afraid for just a moment, before an idea occurred to him.

With the crowbar in hand, the cat quickly stepped out into the hall and jumped straight up, latching his free hand around a ceiling pipe. This put him at eye level with the swatbot, despite being a lot shorter than it. As the swatbot reacted in alarm, Giichi took a sideways swipe with the crowbar.

SMASH!

Bits of red glass peppered him as the swatbot's visor broke into a million pieces. The blinded swatbot promptly released Falina, before stumbling backwards into the other bots which forced them back too. Giichi was feeling pretty good about himself...until one got off a shot at him. It hit the pipe next to his hand.

"AAAAH!"

The cat let go out of fright, causing him to land rather awkwardly on his bottom with a loud grunt. Hoo boy, did that send a nice jolt of pain through him. As the cat stumbled to his feet, he hoped Falina would take advantage of the distraction he'd caused...

RE: Egg Ship 5
Falina stretches to reach and bites down on the fingers of the bot as it ams it's stun gun at her, causing the shot to harmlessly hit the wall of the ship. She then sees Giichi looking back at her, and a clear expression of 'help me!' shows in her eyes. She watches as the small cat jumps up and grabs a pipe, then swings a crowbar at the face of the SWATbot's head. She closes her eyes as a few bits of stray glass go her way, but soon feels the bot's grip on her arm loosen and she slips away, quickly tucking herself into a roll as she hits the ground and getting back on her hooves in just a moment.

She then turns to the fallen bot she had attacked before, her sword still sticking out of it's body. She stood over it and yanked her blade out with a strong pull, then turning toward the remaining SWATbots, noticing she was still outnumbered a bit, but the bots had stumbled over themselves and a few of them were still trying to get up. She quickly charges toward the first bot to begin to get up, shattering it's visor with a hard kick, then stabbing her blade into the visor of another bot while aiming another kick to her side to take out the last one. She finally went around making sure each bot was completely disabled, not just blinded, before walking back to Giichi and giving him a quick hug. "Thanks a lot! I thought I was a goner there for a second." She then looks around a bit before turning back to Giichi. "What do you say we get out of here before more of those tin cans show up?"

RE: Egg Ship 5
Still rubbing his sore butt, Giichi smiled as Falina hugged him. He wasn't expecting that. However, her words about getting out of here snapped him back to reality. The alarms were still droning in the background.

"Um...yes...I think so..."
he said sheepishly. He resumed his work on the ventilation duct, and within a moment it was open. He dived right inside, expecting Falina to follow him. They were now heading roughly in the direction of the stern, towards the engine room.

As they got away from the hall and the alarms, he couldn't help but notice it was awful quiet. There'd been a steady droning noise from the wind whistling by the airship, but now that was gone. So was the rocking of the floors from the motion of the ship.

"Falina...does it feel like we've landed to you?"

Falina climbs in after Giichi and follows him down the air duct, doing her best to keep up even while her hooves provide a poor grip on the smooth metal and she has to awkwardly crawl along using her legs for traction.

She nods to Giichi, agreeing that it sounds like they are no longer in the air anymore. "Yeah, um, that's not good. How do we make this thing crash when it's on the ground?"

RE: Egg Ship 5
Giichi laughed a little bit. "Look at the bright side. We can still disable the engines and keep it from getting airborne again. And we won't have to think about how to escape while this thing's plummeting out of the sky. I mean...I don't want this to be a suicide mission, do you?" They'd notice light up ahead, coming from a grating. As Giichi got closer, he paused to look through...making sure to give Falina enough space to see too.

The pair were above a kind of gigantic docking bay. It was positively filled with heavily-armed swatbots, plus tanks. On either end of the docking bay, sunlight poured in through open doors with ramps descending to the ground.

This must be the ground attack force...

However, it seemed like something was wrong. He could hear the swatbots giving frantic communications to one another, not to mention they could hear the sounds of laser fire and explosions from both exit doors. Giichi grinned and let out a quiet chuckle.

"Hey...looks like we're not alone in this anymore. Seems like their LZ is pretty hot. So if we disable this ship, they won't be able to take off and flee."

RE: Egg Ship 5
Falina blinks and her jaw hangs open a bit as she looks down upon all the bots and tanks that were down below them. These bots certainly looked to be better armed and armored compared to the bots guarding the inside of the ship. She finally catches herself and looks back up at Giichi. "Yeah, I'd say so, and I'm glad, cause those bots down there really look like they mean business. Let's hurry and disable the engine like you said so that they can't get away."

RE: Egg Ship 5
Giichi nodded and continued down the air duct. It actually wasn't that hard to figure out how to reach the engine room. The closer they got, the warmer the air in the ducts got. So, by using this "hot-cold" method, Giichi deduced they were now getting very close.

The temperature had reached nigh unbearable levels by now, and he could also hear a lot of racket from what he guessed was the engines too. For Giichi, the heat wasn't so bad, since sand cats originally came from hot desert climates (hence their name).

But he didn't know how Falina was doing in the back.

"How are you doing back there?"

RE: Egg Ship 5
Falina continues to follow Giichi through the shaft, but seems to be much less able to deal with the growing heat, as she begins to look a bit stressed by the rising temperature, and starts to pant more and more. "The sooner we get out of this vent the better as far as I'm concerned. I just hope the engine room isn't even hotter, I might just faint." She replies dryly, only half joking about the fainting.
