The Battle of Soleanna

[Dr. Robotnik]

((I've had Robotnik leave the bridge in the ground battle topic. We'll just assume that what Chadin and Dulcy does happens before he leaves, then I'll cut to where he currently is now.))

Considering that the front of the ship would logically be the most heavily armored, Dulcy's and Chadin's combined attacks only managed to crack the windshield, rather than total it. It looked like it would take more punishment than that.

Regardless, the fact that they'd gotten this close to him enraged the doctor. His face turned beet red as he saw them defiantly mock him.

"YOU'RE GOING TO PAY FOR THAT! JUST YOU WAIT!"

After speaking to the other bots manning the bridge, he walked out and back into the ship.

As Tails' missiles streaked towards the flak cannons, they stopped firing on the Tornado and fired at the missiles instead. Most of the missiles were stopped by the barrage, although a handful of flak cannons were still destroyed.

Bizarrely, the cannons around the bottom of the ship had fallen silent, despite the fact that they could have easily targeted Tails. He'd find out why shortly. A large door opened on the bottom of the ship, as something massive began to descend out of it.

First black-painted metallic legs with guards appeared, followed up by a torso hitched up to a jet pack, unfolding wings, and shoulder armor. The paint made it look like it was wearing Robotnik's shirt, although the machine had a somewhat muscley build. In one hand, the machine held a large laser pistol designed for its size, and in the other was a shield. Finally, the head appeared, showing a trimmer approximation of Robotnik's face, rendered in the metal. The mustache was smaller and more cleanly trimmed, and the eyes looked narrower and more focused.

In all, the robot looked like a three-story tall, more athletic version of Robotnik. It was as if he'd just made an idealized version of himself...the way he would want to appear to his future citizens as their dictator. Robotnik let out a giant grin as he sat in the cockpit, situated in the heavily-armored chest. He'd deal with these three first, then lead the second attack wave on the city.

"So the three of you don't think much of my Egg Carrier, hm? Well why don't you see what you think of battling me in person?!"

Since Tails was the closest in sight, Mecha Robo began to take aim with its pistol.

[Sonic]

( Cue the Final Boss music from Sonic 3! X3 )

With supersonic speeds, Sonic reached the place of rubble in no time. Though as he looked at the audacity of the destroyed part of the town, he saw no bots or Robotnik’s to be found. Scratching his head in curiosity as he tried not to lose his cool over the amount of destruction Robotnik caused, Sonic scaled the nearest, highest building he could to see the scope of the field. He could see some fighting in the distance towards the jungle, but where the sea was caught more of his attention. There in the distance, he saw the remaining fleet of Egg carriers, but that was not what caught his attention the most.

What caught –his- attention was the 3 story built mecha, which even at his distance could tell resembled the good Doctor; but a lot more trim. Sonic smirked, shaking his head at the sight.

“Trying to make yourself larger than life, Doc?” Sonic began, speaking his thoughts as usual, “ I’m pretty sure that trick didn’t work the last time you did it. And I don’t think just making yourself look like a trimmer you are going change things. I mean, after all, even if you’d –tried- to make yourself look like that you’d eat your weight every yard you’d run!”

He would of loved to run straight too him to see if his new toy could withstand the “Sonic Test”; but the ocean of water and the amount of feet the mecha was away from the ocean surface meant there was no way possible for this hog to get to it. Though he could see two other specks off in the distance, one was too dark to tell what it was exactly. But he could at least swear on his speed that the red speck looked like the Tornado…

That’s when things clicked and Sonic snapped his fingers. It had to be the Tornado! Or, at least he hoped so. Granted, he didn’t have a way to contact Tails directly, even –if- it was him. But he sure could dang well try and get his attention. Looking at his surroundings, and seeing that nothing was really around that he could end up getting destroyed that already wasn’t, he was quick to put his plan in place. He jumped off the building like the smooth contender he was and as soon as he got close to the ground went into a spin-ball and began to go ‘round and ‘round the building. In no time, it was already becoming a spiraling tornado and he was traveling up and down the height of it, as some nearby debris began to get sucked into the powerful whirlwind as well as the building he was encircling began to crack of more debris that was soon added with the rest. If Tails couldn’t see the massive thing, blue tornado then he didn’t know what he was going to do to get his attention. But he was at least assured the attention of the people of Soleanna as there was no way that the citizens that remained wouldn’t be able to see it.

[Qesun Vendak]

It was just hard to keep up until the point where it was decided to go up a building. Qesun just had to skid to a stop and looked up, and then out. With how the skyline here was disheveled and destroyed, it made spotting a 3 story tall mecha ralling through the air rather easy. 'Oh you have got to be kidding me!' Jumping off his bike, he ran up one of the rubble piles so he himself could get a better view. 'Oh for fudge's sake. That's what I get for thinking that I wanted to be where the action is. How the hell am I supposed to fight tha-- Hey, why are those rocks falling?' Looking over to where the occasional debris item was coming from, he spotted how Sonic planned to get attention. 'He's got his plan, apparently. Now I need mine.' He pondered for all of a moment before the half-joke answer came to his head: "...I need bigger guns. That, or pray this thing defines the Big Book of Cliches and has a 'weak spot' somewhere.[/i]' That hopeless feeling washed over him again. The battle was either in the air, or with machines he couldn't imagine ever taking on himself. It was a deep, sick feeling that left him as angry as depressed at the idea.

He surveyed the area more, now that he had some sort of marginal view of the battle, hoping that perhaps something would present itself. Spotting carriers 1 one 5 back around the other side of Soleana, his head began churning ideas and possibilities. 'Or perhaps I'm looking at the wrong role for myself. Let the dudes experienced in that particular field of combat deal with the 40 foot tall Mecha. I see a pair of landed ships back behind the place. Bet I could probably take the run-of-the-mill bots on and have it seem far less suicidal looking. ...I wonder if anyone has tried boarding one of those yet.' He dashed back down the hill to his motorbike. Perhaps following blue hedgehog wasn't his most genius idea, he felt a whole lot better about the odds for the direction he was going.

[[Now that I'm done flailing around like a fish, I think I'm heading in the direction of Egg Ship 5]]

[Dulcy]

Dulcy laughs hysterically as she flys way from the cracked bridge window of Robo's Egg Carrier, largely enjoying the look seen on Robotnik's face. As she was getting some distance between herself in the huge ship though, she heard a large cargo bay door open, and felt her heart sink a bit, afraid to even turn to look at what was coming out of the huge ship. When she finally did turn to look, her jaw dropped in shock at the huge robot in the likeness of Robotnik emerging from the carrier. She then turned back to Chadin, fear showing a little in her eyes.

"Well, um, I think we really ticked him off bad... Any ideas on how to fight that thing? It's huge!" 'I wish Sonic or Sally were here... They would probably know what to do.' She thought to herself, turning around fully toward the Robotnik Bot and trying to think of something while watching it closely to take evasive action if he decided to go after her and Chadin next, which she had a sinking feeling was likely to be the case.

[Chadin]

"Jump on its head a few times and see if it explodes?" I suggest with a awestruck shrug of my shoulders. This is definitely not what I had in mind why I suggest we keep Robotnik's attention squarely on us. Somehow, I had great doubts that my puny little crossbow bolts would even scorch the paint job, let alone leave a dent. Even my metal piercing knife couldn't cut through armour that thick. Now, in the heat of the battle and facing such a mismatched opponent, I was fresh out of ideas.

"Come on! Lets get out of here!!" I shout out finally, with more panic in my voice than I intended. "Stick close to Robotnik's ship. With any luck maybe the flagships guns won't be able to track us so close to the ship. And with any luck Robotnik himself won't risk hitting his own ship just to get us." Its a flimsy plan to be sure, but with any luck it might buy us some time for me to think of a better idea.

[Tails]

Tails immediately turned around and flew away from Robotnik. As he flew away from Robotnik, he noticed a blue tornado destroying a run down building. He flew above the blue tornado to get away from Robotnik.

There was a small conclusion that came to Tails' mind, since the blue tornado only stayed in one place and it appeared that it was for the sake of getting his attention.

Sonic! Sonic! He's here!

Tails landed the plane next to the building and urged Sonic to get on. "C'mon Sonic. Hop on! Let's kick some Robuttnik."

[Dr. Robotnik]

((You know, I was hoping bringing Mecha Robo in would encourage people to work together to take him out, instead of just running away XD Oh well, maybe taking it to the streets will encourage more team ups.))

Robotnik's laughter boomed over the loudspeakers attached to his robot as Tails fled. "Come on, coward! You're already done playing?" He started to look around for Dulcy and Chadin, but then couldn't help but notice what Tails was flying towards. A blue tornado. A guttural growling sound emerged from the bottom of Robo's throat, gradually rising to his mouth.

Hedgehog...

Forgetting about Dulcy and Chadin, he decided to focus instead on his arch-nemesis and his little brat of a friend. The jet pack on Mecha Robo's back ignited, hurling him towards the city. It would not be long before Robo caught up with the pair, although with Mecha Robo's size, they'd definitely see the doctor hurtling straight towards them. So would anybody else, for that matter. As he flew over, he issued more orders to his troops.

"Egg Ship 1, abandon Egg Ship 5. It's too far gone to help anymore. Fly over Soleanna and air drop your forces into the city directly. Egg Ships 2 and 4, do the same. We'll overwhelm them with our sheer numbers. Be prepared for anti-aircraft fire. Egg Carrier, provide covering fire and deal with the dragon and deer while you're at it. I will be joining this fight in the city personally."

Towards the forest, Egg Ship 1 complied. The forces attacking the landed Egg Ship 5 would notice that Egg Ship 1 was headed back towards Soleanna...seemingly abandoning Egg Ship 5.

Meanwhile, Egg Ships 2 and 4 broke off from the Egg Carrier and began to descend. Hatches opened in the bottom of both craft, as swatbots with parachutes prepared to air drop into the city. Meanwhile, the hover tanks were being equipped with special jets that would allow them to air drop and then slowly descend after reaching a certain range.

The cannons on the Egg Carrier resumed firing upon Chadin and Dulcy. However, most of the cannons were pointed towards Soleanna. Seemed that Robotnik was planning to go all out against the city now, despite all they'd done to try to distract him.

[Sonic]

As soon as both Tails and Dr. Robotnik had seen the blue whirl wind, Sonic stopped and sat on top of the building, waiting for Tails to get close. Once Tails landed, Sonic quickly appeared next to Tails, sitting down on the top wing just a little left to him as he causal folded his arms as a huge smirk appeared on his face.

“Now –that’s- the attitude I like to hear!” Sonic exclaimed happily, as he quickly looked behind. He could see the Robo Mech gaining distance, and quite quickly. Look forward again as he stood up, he continued to speak, “ And I’m going to guess that Eggy over there likes that kind of attitude too. So, let’s not keep him waiting, Tails! After all, he’s so egar to get this party rolling!”

[Qesun Vendak]

[[Or not. I don't think there's much left for me to do there.]]

Plans never seem to work out. Whether it was Robotnik and his forces or Sonic and his tornado, the street Qesun needed to take was blocked off. His choice at that speed was to take a sharp left. And of course the robot of doom was jumping into the city. But at least he got another idea. "If he's distracted with Sonic, I wonder if I could find a way to help. Perhaps something is a little more prone to damage from behind." He took another left down another street and began to gun his machine again, pouring on as much speed as he could. His left hand reached down to his right holster and pulled out that gun, a smile forming on his face. There was almost something fun about putting one's self in possibly mortal danger. Perhaps that was the adrenaline kicking in. All he knew was that a little more wouldn't hurt. As he passed behind Robo, he took a few pot shots at the jet pack on the back of his machine.

[Dulcy]

Dulcy gives a quick nod to Chadin. "Well, I don't have any better ideas." She says before swooping down and looking for an area of the ship where the guns wouldn't be able to aim at so that they could hide there, but as she's flying toward the ship, she catches something big and blue out of the corner of her eye, and turns to see the blue tornado. She blinks and glances back at Chadin. "I don't know about you, but a blue tornado only means one thing to me, has to be Sonic! And it seems Tails is going over toward him too. I think we should all group up, as a team, maybe we'll have a chance." Without even waiting for Chadin's answer, she turns and begins to fly toward Sonic and Tails.
