Egg Command Tower

RE: Egg Command Tower
Robotnik took no note of how Alta's voice lacked enthusiasm, because he was far too excited about flinging the sheet off of his new beast and having another look at it. With one mighty tug, the sheet flew off and fluttered through the air.

"Voila! The Egg Digger!"

Like Robotnik said earlier, it appeared to be a massive tank, although the front end of it was covered with an array of drills and crushers that looked like they could eat a car with no trouble at all. Extremely heavy armor covered the entire vehicle, with narrow slits for Robotnik to see out through. Big tank treads were slightly visible beneath the body.

"My my...you look even MORE impressive than when I last remembered seeing you!"
The doctor clapped his hands together and gave a loving look to the machine, as if it was his girlfriend or something.

RE: Egg Command Tower
This suddenly got Alta's attention, as he looked towards the doctor with an odd look on his face.

"Okay...I can understand your egotistical talks about how great your machines are, but what you just said was just plain creepy. And not the 'I'm a shady character' way..."

The machine was impressive. He didn't have to question if it could eat through anything; because it probably could. He'd hate to be the person to run in front of it. But he did have some questions about it. Firstly, how well could it maneuver? Tank Treads was not was he concerned flexible. It could get easily stuck; and trying to make turns on a dime would be impossible. Could the top with the drills rotate? If all those nasty drills where able to move in a 360 fashion, the Doctor could easily use it as a shield. But if they were stuck in only one direction, the the back would be exposed; and any speedy enough creature would exploit it.

"Hmm. Well, it certainly looks....incredible dangerous." Alta started out, looking at the machine; his expression going into deep though, " But just how good is the moverablebility of it? After all if worst comes to worst, assuming this is Sonic, then couldn't he easily exploit the back; or even the sides? And wouldn't those treads cause problems? I can't help but think if anyone makes a small, yet large enough hole in the ground that it could stuck; and having all those drills wouldn't help a thing."

RE: Egg Command Tower
When Alta mentioned that what Robotnik had said before looked creepy, he turned around a little sheepishly and gave a nervous laugh. "Sorry about that." He usually didn't have guests around and didn't think about what he was doing there.

"Anyway, you seem to think it's meant for fighting on the surface. But it's really meant for drilling tunnels and fighting underground. There's typically not a lot of room to maneuver down there, so his speed wouldn't count for much down there. Plus it'd be quite difficult to attack anything aside from the front or back. And if he does go after the back, I have a few surprises I'm thinking of installing.

"And by the way, there's a reason tanks use treads. It gives the vehicle more surface contact, which makes it easier to move over rough ground. Lots of little bumps and soft ground is merely smoothed over by the big contact area. Plus, tanks can drive right over trenches if they're not too deep, and they can easily climb up hills too. And if I ever do get stuck, the drills can rotate slightly downwards, and I can just dig my way down.

But I will take what you've said in mind on the back and sides. The Egg Digger is not quite finished yet and I'd like to make some more improvements."

RE: Egg Command Tower
It figured as much that he would be wrong. After all, he never quite finished his schooling; nor did he really know much about war machines. But, at least he did point out one thing to improve it. At least he wasn't completely useless.

"Right. But still, excuse me for my wrong accusations. I'm afraid I haven't quite finished learning robotics...or in this case, 'How to make Death Machines and Tools."

'Not to mention working as part of maintenance crew for an amusement park doesn't help either.' He mentally added.

If there was one down turn in his life that he was ashamed of, it would be that. Once again, he couldn't tell whether or not the Doctor's saving him from a life in jail was a blessing or a curse. Either way, he didn't know much else of what to do. He didn't have two cents to add about what to do about the sides and the back. So, he stood there looking towards Dr. Robotnik and then back at the machine.

RE: Egg Command Tower
Robotnik strummed his chin, apparently in thought. He then suddenly turned back to Alta.

"Do you have any ideas of your own for what could be on the back? Myself personally, I'm thinking of a doorway that pops open and a turret pops out to shoot at people going after the back. Or maybe I could electrify it or something. I said I had a few ideas, but I don't think they're very good ones right now."

RE: Egg Command Tower
"I don't know..." Alta began, musing over some of the ideas. "...I think with a turret, there's a good chance of some ranged attack taking it out; or speedy creatures. Electrifying also sounds like a bad idea; since there is a possibility for someone to use that against the machine somehow. Though that depends on how many volts you put through it and how much the machine can take."

Putting his right hand to his chin, he tapped his index finger on the side of his face. running through a few ideas in his head, he found one that sounded good enough.

"What about putting spikes all over the back? That would prevent any melee attacks. And I don't see how ranged attacks would mess it up."

[Switching over to Robotropolis Outskirts. Sorry for being so inactive with Rampage lately. Been busy as hell with work the past few months.]

RE: Egg Command Tower
Robotnik chuckled a little when Alta mentioned just using spikes.

"Spikes...that I think would be much, much better. It looks like I fell into the trap of overdesigning the machine and not considering simpler solutions. Very good suggestion, Alta."

He gave the smaller man a hearty little slap on the back, grinning as he did so. Already the doctor was moving to a nearby computer with a widescreen monitor that showed the blueprints of the Egg Digger. He started making changes to the drawings digitally with a small stylus.

RE: Egg Command Tower
Alta was a fairly normal size, but the Doctor wasn't. And not just his weight, he was a lot taller too. So, when his hand connected Alta's back, Alta was off balanced by it quickly; lunging slightly forward as his feet lifted slightly from the ground. Thankfully, he didn't fall on his face, and he came up right and fixed his glass as they slid down slightly.

"Thank you..." He replied meekly, as he watched Dr. Robotnik move over to the computer.

Moving forward; yet somewhat always from the Doctor, he tried to concentrate on coming up with an idea of his own. But to no avail, as he still blanked out. Of course, when he thought about it, he never really made a robot before. Not like what the Doctor did anyway. Most of the time when he was at school he was more or less following the blue prints that where given to him; rather than coming up on an idea of his own. Thought that was in the more advances class, he was just about there before he was banned from ever learning the rest. This did give him an idea, even if it wasn't exactly an idea for a robot.

"Dr. Robotnik....you wouldn't happen to have any...um....books on advanced robotic's would you?" he asked, hopeing he wasn't bothering him.

{OOC: I just remembered something. Rose never really finished telling the doc about what happened in their dimension. Do we assume that Alta filled in the details during those two days or was Robotic workings 48 hours on Rampage?}

RE: Egg Command Tower
[Let's have it be discussed here in this topic. It would make for good roleplay material.]

"No, why would I have books? I am the master of robotics after all! Why would I need to consult books? Hahaha!" The doctor's laughter echoed through the large space. As he continued making modifications to the blueprint though, he did recall something. "Well...in my room, I do have some books from when I was younger and not the genius I am today. I suppose you want to learn how to build them as great as me, hmm?" The doctor turned around with a grin as he said that.
