His eyes went wide as he blinked in confusion. What…just happened? He looked from the right to the left almost expecting something new to be in the room, but then shook the stupid thought out. The happy tone of the new voice startled him as well as his response. How were a baggy white sweat-jacket, colored shirt, and tie even –resemble- Robotnik’s influence? He’d been wearing these kinds of clothes for years before he knew the doctor. But he was thinking for too long, he need to answer the…person’s questions before he did get suddenly rough.

“ I-I knew him when I was doing an internship with G.U.N.” he began slowly before quickly explaining himself. After all, the sentence that came out wouldn’t sound very good to most ears, “You see, about seven years ago in my dimension, G.U.N. had managed to ‘arrest’ the doctor along with an accomplice of his. They…somehow managed to make a deal with both the accomplice and the doctor to ‘work’ for G.U.N.; in which they assigned me under an apprenticeship with both of them.”

Pauseing to sigh, he quickly continued.

“After a week or so I ended up helping the Doctor and his accomplice out; being the messenger for both of them as Dr. Robotnik was never allowed to be in the labs at the same time as his accomplice was.”

He stopped there, deciding that he had already said more than the person would want to hear. He suspected that things would get worse from here on out.

"That's very fascinating!"

The voice sounded rather cheerful, like he was giving a television interview.

"Is that where Robotnik made his roboticizer? Oh, and did he help you make that interesting gadget you used earlier? We've got in the labs right now, and we're looking it over. Very fine work, even if it was used against us!"

Still completely dumbfounded, he continued to answer.

“Umm…. no. He only talked about it. And yes, he did help me make the, um, Sonic Screwdriver.” He paused before he decided to explain on incident that had landed him here in the first place. “I think you might find everything that had been affected by it is o-kay. After all, it only the first mode; all it does is temporarily make things not work. “

"So...it's called a Sonic Screwdriver...?" the voice trailed off, as if the person on the other side were stroking his chin. "Oh, and don't worry, we know. What brought you here anyway? Trying to hook up with the doctor again?"

I must say...if you're good enough to make something like that screwdriver, we would be interested in employing you..."

“Umm, well, not really …” he paused another second before looking towards the side, “…But I have a feeling If I don’t want to be walking out as a robot I’m going to have too…But as far as why I’m here, well, I was living in Station square before the dimension merge happened; so I’ve been here the entire time.”

"I see about your residence... And you are correct about my offer for employment," the voice confirmed. "Anyone not on the doctor's side is sent to the Roboticizer...where they're forced to be on his side anyway." As he spoke, the voice seemed to slowly transition from happy and perky to a lower, darker, more sinister tone. "So if I were you, I'd just take the offer and make things easier on yourself."

A sly chuckle permeated the room around Alta. And now the voice had just gone back to being happy and perky.

"Take as long as you'd like to consider the offer. It's not like you're going anywhere anyway. Ha!"

“….Umm….Yeeeaahhh, I’ll take the offer. It’s not like hate him or anything.”

He wasn’t too surprised at the change in tone. Only because he had already known that if he didn’t take the offer, he’d end up becoming a robot. And he wasn’t quite fond of becoming a robot. Blinking a bit, he decided to ask a question.

“Umm…is it too much to ask for my spare pair of glasses I had in my jacket? I’d like to see clearly again…”

"Certainly!" the voice cheerfully said. A few minutes later, a SWATbot opened the door with the glasses in hand, and thrust them straight into Alta's face.

"Is there anything else you would like?"

If Alta was observant, he'd notice the SWATbot didn't close the door behind him.

His body went back a bit as the SWATbot thrusted the glasses in his face, which caused him to immediately blink. Adjusting his glasses slightly, he glanced about the plain, concert room with wide eyes. Standing up, he brushed himself off, as he looked towards the door way.

“Ah, well, It’d be also nice to have everything that was taken from my pockets….-except- the Sonic Screwdriver. I realize I probably won’t see that thing for a while.”

Taking an assumption, he walked towards the open door, but not without caution. After all, he’d rather not do something else that would end up upsetting the entire place.

As Alta exited, he'd see four other SWATbots stood right outside the interrogation room, blocking the hallway in either direction. The voice came over the loudspeaker in the hall. [

"Good, you've passed your first test of honesty."

Clearly the voice had left the door open on purpose, to see if Alta could be trusted to stay on Robotnik's side and wouldn't try to bolt. One of them presented Alta's jacket.

"Now, I suppose what's next would be your accommodations. We'll arrange for you to have an apartment near the labs. How does that sound?"
