Egg Command Tower

[Rose Fox]

Alta blinked awkwardly at this, even though he didn't know why. He acted much like the Robotnik he knew--just not confined to a small space and being watched by G.U.N. But for some reason he felt slightly awkward. Also, even though it was obvious that he was a child once, Alta had a hard time seeing the Doctor as a child. And in some ways, he actucally wanted to see that. Shaking the thought off, he answered the Doctor's question.

"Mooree like I wish to finish my education..." He replied in a stateful matter. "I was originally going for a Doctorates Degree in Robotics; and managed to get my Bachelors...but..."

Once again, Alta was faced with the fact he thought of before. He sighed heavily, giving a somewhat dull look as he looked away from the Doctor.

"...But then I got caught helping you. In which I don' know whether to thank you for getting me out of going to jail or feel chargin for the fact that G.U.N. would no longer allow me to do anything. You could say it was almost like they were trying to prevent another you; except that they should of been watching Rose instead." He paused for a second as he looked the other way. "...Which the failed completely as she managed to evaded them like she apparently did 16 years before..."

[Dr. Robotnik]

What Alta had just said got nothing but a blank stare from Robotnik. He blinked a few times as Alta told his story, but didn't really say much until he was finished.

"What? I hate to say it, but I have no idea what you're talking about. You must be talking about another alternate version of me."

Robotnik drew up a rolling chair, because he felt like this was going to be a long story. The doctor motioned to a nearby chair for Alta himself to sit in.

"So... I got you out of jail, but these gun people, whoever they are kept you from doing anything? What does that mean? And Rose evading them 16 years ago? What happened then?"

[Rose Fox]

Alta sighed again, because knew himself it was going to take a long time to explain. And personally, he didn't really want to talk about it. But, he knew it was for the best that he knew; so at least the Doctor would know what kind of connections his other self had. Seeing the chair, Alta walked over and sat down.

"Well, firstly about Rose," Alta started off, "From what I was able to read from her file, she was in some sort of Government program. I don't quite remember what it was called. They had her in it due to the fact that she was a child prodigy. Though apparently right after finishing college she ran away. In which, she was 12 when she did so. She managed to evade them for about seven years before she turned up again; and of course, she turned up around you. There's more than just that, but it would be best to ask Rose about it than me."

He paused for a moment as he adjusted his glasses.

"As for G.U.N., well G.U.N. stands for Guardian United Nations. They -were- the main military of the, well, United Nations. As for the entire situation I was put it, it's best to explain exactly what happened with you in my dimension. I don't know the full details, but about seven years ago you where caught by G.U.N. If you want exact details Rose could probably tell you all about it; though I do know it had something to do with the Doctor getting ambushed after he had just got through a fight with Sonic. Somehow they managed to get both you and Rose to agree to work for them, as G.U.N. does have they're own labs; but they were paranoid about the whole agreement. So in there 'indefinite wisdom' they decided it would be best for someone to learn both the Doctor and Rose's trades so they could have someone to counteract them, if they somehow escaped; or dispose of them so they would no longer be a security risk."

At this point, Alta looked back towards the side; placing his right hand to the back of his neck.

"...Unfortunately, this is where I came into the picture. I guess you could say, like Rose told me, I was the 'poor sap' that they choose to do this apprenticeship with and they 'conned' me into it."

[Dr. Robotnik]

The doctor readjusted his glasses a bit, as he listened to this news. This news distressed him slightly, although he didn't show it. Someone meant to counteract him in the other dimension? And that was Alta? He masked his feelings with an easygoing smile. "I trust you don't care about carrying out GUN's mission now that they're out of the picture, hmm? Right? Right?" The doctor jovially elbowed him in the shoulder a couple times as he said the last part.

[Rose Fox]

Alta proceeded in giving the Doctor a weird look. "I...didn't really care about G.U.N. in the first place. I simply got caught up in it, because my college had a deal with the G.U.N. facility that allowed the technology department to have students do temp work in order to finish their degree's faster; if they wanted too. Why they choose me, I'm not certain. Though it could have something to do with my...um...educational background."

He shifted slightly, out of feeling uncomfortable. He was already feeling like Dr. Robotnik was somehow going to get paranoid out of this. Hopefully, he would understand that he didn't really care about G.U.N. Then again, he didn't care about Dr. Robotnik's goals either; but he was sort of stuck in a position to support it.

"And also, I guess I should also make it clear that they by 'security risk' they meant you. They did want to replace Rose-if they had too, though not as much as you. They were far more lenient with her because for some reason they thought that Rose was just brainwashed by Dr. Robotnik; and somehow that meant she wouldn't be able to do any damage without him around. So while you were stuck in a small lab with many security levels; Rose was on the base floor in the labs. For the most part they stuck her in an enclosed room, but the security wasn't nearly as tight as it was with you. AS far as what happened with the whole apprenticeship thing, well for the most part you seemed like you were stalling and Rose was...well..."

He started to think of the times back then, thinking of the word to describe just how she had acted towards him. His expression went to deep concern though as he continued.

"Hostile. Incredibly, frightfully hostile. While you seemed like you tolerated me, Rose wanted to rip my head off, so to speak. And I still don't understand -why- she started being more neutral towards me. All I can remember her doing is asking me some sort of question in which I couldn't really answer. And once I made it clear why she just...stopped. Either way, after about six weeks I began helping the Doc and Rose escape. You could say that I...owed Rose. And exactly how I'd rather not talk about it..."

The tone in his voice changed immediately as he brought up the fact that he owed Rose. It was obviously by his somewhat distressed expression. And in reality, he very much was. He didn't want to be reminded of it, let alone remember it. Granted, he couldn't really forget, but he at least succeeded in pushing it back in his mind. But that soon changed as he went back to a more neutral expression to finish the speech up.

"...To make a long story short, I ended up becoming a middle man for the Doctor and Rose, so they could exchange notes back and forth to plan their escape. With the Doctor's help, me and him made a device called "The Sonic Screwdriver" which would basically make all technological devices unstable, that was supposed to be used. Unfortunately, I slipped somewhere, and got caught passing the notes. But you ended up defending me, claiming you were really forcing me too and I ended up getting off the hook...well, except for there paranoia where they thought I'd somehow turn into you...but that's a different matter..."

[Dr. Robotnik]

A half smile crept across Robotnik's face. "My...my other self was chivalrous, wasn't he? Anyway, I wish I could get inside that girl's head some more. I still don't know what she's thinking half the time. But since she clearly likes me, I don't think she'll endanger our plans."

"Oh, and I read the brief about what happened when you first arrived. So that was the Sonic Screwdriver, hmm? It doesn't sound like it'd be useful for me though. If I used it as a weapon in my army, I'd be disabling my own forces at the same time. But maybe I could turn it into some sort of projectile. I shoot it at my enemies at long range, their weapons are disabled, then I shoot again with long range cannon fire. Then the SWATbots move in to clean up the rest. Sounds like a very nice idea, don't you?"

[Rose Fox]

"Yes, well, it wasn't really made as a weapon..." Alta began, " But I suppose that would work; as long as you make the range short and have a way to turn it off before the robots go in. As for Rose, well all you'd have to do is ask. I remember out of curiosity I asked her what would she do if Robotnik told you to go jump off a cliff. And basically, she said 'how high'. Plus it wasn't like the Doctor had her around for no use. She was his assistant after all..."

"As for the rest of the story, after a few days that I was caught you were...um..." He seemed to pause as he looked away from Robotnik. "Well...executed. By G.U.N.....on live...national...television......"

[Dr. Robotnik]

Robotnik didn't seem very perturbed by the fact that he'd been executed in another dimension. "As long as it's not me in this dimension, I'm pretty much okay about that." He merely gave an indifferent shrug after that.

"I must say...they don't seem to be much nicer than me if they'd kill a man on live television. Is that really who the people are putting their faith in to stop me? Sounds like they'd be free to do many more rotten things if I was disposed of."

[Rose Fox]

Alta seemed to nod in agreement.

“Yeah…, but most people took it in a much more different light. The only thing I can compare it to was the one scene from Mage of Doz, were everyone starts celebrating when a trailer crushes an evil wizard. They never once thought of you being a human being; they just thought of you as some kind of malicious entity. But that’s what happens when you try and force something, even if it’s in the best of interest.”

He shrugged himself, as he seemed to relax more, instead of being tense and awkward.

“That’s usually how the world works. And there’s not much you can do to change it.”

[Dr. Robotnik]

Robotnik put a big evil grin on his face when Alta mentioned the fact that people in the other dimension saw him as a malicious entity. The doctor definitely wanted to be seen as larger than life by his subjects and soon-to-be subjects...the better to keep them under his heel.

"Well, if that fate awaits me here if I am captured, I'd say it's a small price to pay for that level of respect. Besides, those who are executed are always better remembered than those who are left to slowly rot in a jail cell for years at a time. The former is just what I want, were my cause to fail."

The doctor stood up and waved his arms around. He now spoke louder and not directly to Alta, as if he were talking to an invisible audience.

"In the history books, I want there to be entire chapters dedicated to me. I want historians to define the course of history into two parts. The world before me, and the world that came after me. I will mold this world into the image I desire one day, and it will be glorious."

He let out a thin chuckle, as he went to sit back down again.
