Kazuki Kajimoto
"Father always said everyone had a good side. I'd rather believe that and be proven wrong than to doubt my own world continuously."
Name: Kazuki Minamoto (Switches out her last name to her father's first name for anonymous reasons.) Age: 16. Sex: Female. Species: Silver Fox Appearance: ![]() Personality: Kazuki is cheerful and polite, but can become dangerously moody from time to time; most likely, after receiving negative criticism about her musical skills. She has an innocent yet adamant air of justice, always straying from her own goals to go out of her way for others- most of the time, dragging her friends into the problem, too. Kazuki is easy to get along with, and is still a kid at heart. Oddly trusting of everybody, familiar and foreign, this kind little vixen easily becomes very attached to anyone that seems friendly enough. She DOES throw a bit of a fit when someone says anything negative about her music, which results in crying, a paralysis spell, many whacks to the 'offender', and more crying. Kazuki suffers from a need to be recognized as a tough, responsible self-sustaining non-feminine individual. Due to her father once mentioning in passing that he would have preferred a boy, Kazuki has obsessively tried to become less of a girl- with little success, especially after her teenage years. It is a complex that especially haunts her after being referred to as a girl in any way. Kazuki is a novel-romantic and has fallen for a certain red fox, who she remains extremely loyal to without a doubt. Her friends are top priority to her, and she will go to noble lengths to help them. Though one of her purposes is to change the world back to what it is, Kazuki has often felt the doubt that she might not want to go back. Alignment: Hero Family: Mother (Asuka Minamoto) - A previously strong woman, of both body and mind. She was a child prodigy raised out in the country lands. Coming from a strict upbringing, she learned abilities from both sides of her parents- Bushido from her father and Symphonic magic from her mother. Asuka set off on a pilgrimage to the war-torn land of her ancestors at the young age of twelve, when she came across a stubborn fellow named Kajimoto, who was rough-housing with guards at a small town. Joining him on his journey, they traveled together and both accomplished their purposes over years of adventuring, settling down in the newly formed country of peace. Her unrestrained days came to an end after conceiving her first child, at a rather young age (16), and she turned to the family life instead. Now, she is a shadow of her formal youthful self, having lost her first child and her husband. Asuka hasn't been the same since the the latter, and spends her time heavily depressed and detached from life. Father (Kajimoto, deceased) - A man of a long line of revered adventurers, he became obsessed over renewing the family name which was ruined throughout his father's lifetime. Wise, bluntly critical of things, and a fool for thrills, he met and eventually fell in love with Kazuki's mother during his first adventure, which took him across the land. His obsession with reaching new heights to strengthen the family name eventually caused him to drain the life out of his own body, causing him to age years within minutes. Because of this, he often appeared to be a very old man when he was barely hitting his thirties. A second attempt proved to be fatal, ending his life painfully. Older/Younger(?) Sister (?????) - Kazuki's older sister, who she had never heard of prior to the world shifts. She was supposed to be born two years before Kazuki, but Asuka's pregnancy resulted in a stillbirth. After the world warps began, she mysteriously came into existence. Having no memory of life before then, save for mental images of her parents as if she never died, she listlessly wanders around Soleanna. Even though in Kazuki's world, she was supposed to be older, she has been incarnated as a ten year-old girl, who is quiet, mean, and extremely rude to other people. She bears a striking resemblance to Kazuki in her younger years. The two have yet to meet. Equipment: Astral Flute - Appears to be a very standard flute, but is made of a substance not familiar to modern craftsmen. The flute was made long ago by combining a crystallized star fragment and various alloys made for durability. It apparently was made by her great great great great great grandfather, who was at the time a young accomplished sage that earned her family its fame in magical talent. This odd instrument gives her the ability to perform many techniques, useful and meaningless alike. Each technique has it's own tune, and her current array of techniques varies in use. Kazuki will often discover a new technique during her tantrums, only to forget it moments later. Many of these techniques are actually supportive of the target; few have been created that cause any harm. Because of the powers that this item creates, Kazuki has labeled these abilities as 'Symphonic Magic'. She can control the flute to determine whether the tune will produce a symphonic effect or not, but may mix up the signal when she panics. With each symphonic effect, the Astral Flute drains a little bit of energy from Kazuki. The tougher the tune, or the higher the usage, the more energy she loses. Aside from the Symphonic Magic, the melodies can cause a wide variety of non-combat occurrences, such as moving objects aside, or lifting up heavier objects. Weapon Weaknesses: - Though almost impervious to forceful impacts, the Astral Flute does little to lay down the hurt as a melee weapon. That could be due more to Kazuki's lack of strength. - Her lack of equipment proves unproductive in solo combat. - The Astral Flute will, from time to time, fail to produce an effect when Kazuki commands it otherwise. - Any interruption during a tune can disrupt the symphonic effect, sometimes causing something completely different to happen, or nothing to occur at all. These techniques require the utmost care and focus; something that is hard to come by in battle. - Though the Astral Flute will not drain her energy past a certain point, once she's reached that limit, she is wide open to any attack. Biography: Kazuki was born into the Kajimoto family during stressful times. Her father was at the time infamous for his controversial theory on the concepts, origins, and uses of the elemental powers that made up her world, and was often scorned by many who feared or opposed this unnatural force. Her mother was also greatly troubled, as Kazuki was born a frail child. The family moved out of their city, many miles north, where the fresh air was thought to be beneficial to even the most extreme cases of fragility. Kazuki's health strengthened, and she enjoyed the early years of her life in near solitude and peace. Through those years, her father had almost perfected his technique and theory concerning elemental abilities; Soon, because he was no longer considered a heretic, Kajimoto attracted a lot of attention. He eventually began to accept certain individuals as students, and Kazuki finally gained the opportunity to interact with others; A chance that she had long desired. Her father came to have so many students, he had no choice but to build a new structure called the Scholar's Tower. With the help of many students, it came became realized in less than a year. At the age of 6, Kazuki became very interested in the musical arts when a traveling minstrel played for her father. Without revealing her new intentions, she looked all around the newly opened Scholar Tower and the Kajimoto residence for any instrument that appealed to her. Spying a beautiful looking flute hidden among her Mother's belongings, she snatched it and ran off towards the tower, hoping to have a little bit of alone time with this flute. She immediately became immersed in it, and started playing horribly out of tune melodies, until she noticed a strange phenomenon occurring right next to her. The portrait on the wall of the room she was hiding in began to take on a warped appearance. Not at all worried, she began to play some more. Kazuki closed her eyes, and even though her music was far from being pleasurable, she played random notes without a care. It wasn't until a book came barreling across the room and struck her that she became frightened and scrambled back home. A tearful Kazuki decided to tell her mother what happened. Deciding that the mysteries surrounding the flute had no business with a mere child, Asuka retrieved the flute and hid it from Kazuki. Asuka was deeply concerned about the flute's power in the hands of a kid, and had no desire of releasing that terror of a chore among the house. Much to Kazuki's disappointment, she never found the flute after the incident. However, she enjoyed the sound of music so much, she obtained an ordinary flute, and still studied the musical arts with her mother. Her father soon mastered a variety of elements, became a very respected scholar and fighter, and he gained more and more followers, in an odd parallel to the previous members of his lineage. Kajimoto seemed to favor one student, a fox who went by the name of Ajiryn, who he had thought to have had potential of being a capable elementalist but was too lazy to try. Because of this, Kazuki spent her free time with Ajiryn. Not exactly know what her father meant by Ajiryn's lack of effort, but persistent enough to nag him about it, she'd often scold the fox for slacking off during his studies. Kazuki herself had learned to control an element of her own, and teased Ajiryn about it constantly. Shut away in a room, her father began to endlessly experiment with his magic to lengths never achieved by anyone in his family. With no regard to personal safety, he dangerously opted to perform a chromatic summoning of all the elements. An imbalance caused the technique to back fire, he had unknowingly signed his own death warrant, draining too much energy from himself to move. When he was nowhere to be found minutes to supper, his closest students and Asuka looked for him. To her horror, she came upon him as a withered, shaking figure, draining himself of life for the second time. With news of his 'illness', students left, one by one, and only her closest friend, Ajiryn, had bothered to stay with the family. Kajimoto's health seemed to decline with every passing day, and it came to Asuka no surprise when he had passed, one cold autumn morning. Deeply saddened by this, Asuka began to close up the Scholar's tower, and pack up anything inside the residence. Asking the then 9 year old Kazuki to help out, the two discovered a strange object resonating from a box. Reaching inside, Kazuki pulled out a familiar crystalline flute; The very same one she found a few years back. Before Asuka could say anything, Kazuki expressed her enjoyment by playing a few cheerful measures. Asuka dreaded the oncoming disaster that she herself knew would pass. However, it seemed as though Kazuki had somehow used the flute without incurring it's power. She looked entirely happy; something her mother had not seen since the passing of Kajimoto. Though terrified that her daughter might disturb the peace with this flute, Asuka noted that Kazuki had, in a matter of minutes, become very attached to it. Asuka was only 7 herself when she was handed the family heirloom to keep and use as she saw fit. Seeing as how Kazuki was well above that age and now and more cautious than before, Asuka decided that it was time for the flute to be passed down. Because Asuka could not bear to live in that remote area with only Kazuki for company, she decided to move back to the nearest city. Ajiryn had left their company for the next town, wanting to return to his own hometown until he could figure out what had happened to his own family. Years passed by, and during that time, Kazuki had unknowingly bumped into Ajiryn on occasions. Kazuki stopped mourning over her father, and now led a rather normal life. Asuka never handled Kajimoto's death well, but also never admitted it to anyone. Some time after Kazuki turned 14, her mother began to display odd symptoms of memory loss. It became apparent that Asuka was suffering some sort of inner turmoil. Though in perfect shape and physical health, Asuka slowly became forgetful and stolid of others. She took to locking herself in a room for hours. After a year, Asuka no longer recognized anyone, friend or family. Since doing nothing would not improve her mother's ailment, Kazuki debated at great lengths what action to take; the little fox soon decided that she needed to find a way to restore her mother's condition. Leaving Asuka in the care of neighborhood families who were new-found friends, Kazuki prepared to leave. On her way out, she stopped by a hardware shop to escape the glaring heat of the day. Meeting with the owner, who was quite quirky, she learned that a strange fox had, for awhile, resided there; One that was named Ajiryn. Asking where he was at the moment, she learned that he gone out for a bit of fresh air. He kindly allowed her to wait until the other person came back. To her surprise, it was the same Ajiryn she had known as a childhood friend. The two immediately bonded with each other again, and caught up on times that very week. After a year of traveling across the land in search of his brother or a cure for her mother, they had already enlisted the help of Ajiryn's double-danger friends, Skyes and Semyl Lowell. More months passed, with nobody's goals yet achieved. The group camped out for another night, just as if it were any other. But when she had woken up, something beyond her imagination had happened: The entire world was being warped and ripped! Now, only armed with her flute and the aid of her friends, she hopes that this new world holds some promise to curing her mother, while doing her best to help out the new peoples and change everything back to what she knew it to be. Symphonic Magic: Supportive Music: Astral Melody - An upbeat tune that slowly rejuvenates the target. Can affect multiple targets at once. Effect fades after a few minutes. Rising Etude - A simple tune that increases the quality of Kazuki's symphonic magic. Only affects Kazuki. Effect is only active for whichever tune follows it, then wears off. Enables quicker casting of symphonic magic, and allows Kazuki to chose targets during tunes that would otherwise affect everyone. Raises efficiency of healing melodies. The boost of power obtained through this weakens after repeated use. Swift Lyric - An swift tune that causes the target to become more agile than normal. Affects multiple targets. Only active while being played. Effect ends when Kazuki stops. Ethereal Ode - A slow tune that can sometimes divert enemy magic away from the intended target. Only affects one target per cast. Effect will fade away after a use. Star Harmony - A cheerful tune that reduces and slowly restores energy spent on magic, techniques, or elemental skills. Affects multiple targets. Fades after a few minutes. Refreshing Sonata - A rhythmic tune that may counter small physical ailments in the target. Heals a single target per cast. Revīvere Aria - An angelic tune that can restore consciousness and strength to the target. Affects a single target per cast. Very difficult to use repeatedly, and can definitely put a dent in Kazuki's strength. Celestial Serenade - Extremely difficult tune that can restore the target from severe ailments and minor injuries. Drains a significant amount of energy per cast. Affects only one target, and becomes unusable for several minutes. Often causes Kazuki to pass out. Offensive Music: Somnolent Lullaby - A somber tune that can lull to sleep even the most angered of individuals. Affects multiple targets within range. Overuse will result in Kazuki falling asleep. Entrancing Tune - A charming tune that causes the target to shift their attention to Kazuki. This seemingly only works on Male individuals. Charms a single target. Effect will wear off after a few seconds. Repeated use is quite easy, however. Occasionally causes her to swoon for the nearest person, robbing her of thought for a couple of seconds. Dispelling Descant - A sharp tone that causes certain magical effects placed on the target to disappear. Affects a single target per cast. Confusing Chorale - A muddled tune that might shift the opponents attentions amongst themselves. Affects multiple targets. This tune is the only offensive one that Kazuki can choose the targets without the help of Rising Etude, allowing quick use without fear of confusing an ally. Overuse of this may cause Kazuki to become dizzy for a few minutes. Bedazing Stanza - A piercing tune that may cause the target to stiffen, resulting in a near-paralyzed state. Effect goes away after a few seconds. Affects all targets nearby. Overuse of this often leaves Kazuki herself paralyzed. Silence Symphony - An masterful tune complicated enough to cause the target to become mute for a short period of time. Targets one enemy. Overuse of this technique can leave Kazuki silenced, rendering her symphonic magic useless. Non-Combative Symphonic Magic limits: -These abilities can only target one object. Retrieving objects: The heavier the object, the less likely it is to come. It is impossible to retrieve larger objects. In other words, a rock may be retrievable, but trying to grab a boulder is useless; you'd get further talking to the aforementioned rock. Moving objects: The larger or heavier it is, the slower the object moves, and the more energy required. Useful for moving obstructions out of one's path, such as crates, small boulders and perhaps a small statue. Moving objects heavier than Kazuki is possible, but very slow and tiring. Lifting objects: Identical to Move, but more tiring and less potent. Boulders and such cannot be lifted enough to prove useful, but it is possible to lift these heavier objects an inch or so. How would that help? No one is all too sure. Elemental Abilities: Plasma Sphere - Generates a fierce ball of lightning to strike the opponent. Plasma Sphere expands from her hand, without causing harm to herself. Though this may seem optimal for punches, Kazuki is able to launch it up to 12-14 feet before it implodes. It is able to be cast without the use of the Astral Flute, but drains a greater amount of energy than her symphonic magic, and uses even more at an exponential rate if she decides to retain it. She isn't as adept with lightning elementals as she should be; this attack, even well aimed, only generates enough energy to electrocute and briefly stun the opponent. Electro-Fox - Just as the name implies, Kazuki electrifies herself. What happens afterward depends on whatever is daring enough to touch her. Last only for a brief moment, and then becomes unusable for many minutes, meaning she has to have extremely good timing to zap someone. To her, however, it is a technique used mainly for enjoyment, that which is derived from giving a certain red fox a good jolt. Team Tech: [Kazuki/Ajiryn] Meteor Minor - Combines Symphonic magic with Ajiryn's fire abilities to produce small bolts of flame that rain down from above. Releases roughly 15-30 fire bolts within a 150 foot range that spreads in a 90-degree arc from the pair. Targeting is nonexistent. [Kazuki/Semyl Lowell] Carousel - A back to back attack that surrounds herself and Semyl with swirling lightning and slicing wind, creating a safety zone for them that proves hard to break through. Only lasts a couple of seconds due to their intermediate magic. [Kazuki/Skyes Lowell] Dodgeball - A strangely comical move, where Kazuki curls into a ball and is launched by Skyes at something. Whether used as an attack or for utility purposes, the mere sight of this is enough to send Ajiryn running for the hills. Chaos/Sol Ability: Shine Bolt - An extremely powerful electrical bolt homes in on a target, and bursts upon contact to attack with many scattered, weak sparks. Sure to ruin someone's day. Combat Style: Kazuki doesn't fight much; Any and all combat experiences were purely instinctive. She will hang around the back and support her allies with Symphonic Magic during fights, and if that opening comes, occasionally strike the opponent. Strengths: Due to her upbringing and her musical 'talents', Kazuki has a very clear understanding of nature. She no longer finds odd occurrences strange, and even ideas that many consider inane seem perfectly plausible to her. With the years she has spent experimenting with the Astral Flute, several far-fetched instances have shown her the world doesn't always have an explanation. Her sense of the supernatural, derived from her symphonic magic, only aids her further in her magical abilities. A strong fear of becoming mangled in the middle of a fray keeps her away from the fight and alert to whatever is going on. Weaknesses: Kazuki isn't a fighter at all. Though agile, she hardly knows how to fight, causing her to stay near the back of a battle. Plus, without her flute, she practically has nothing to contribute to combat, save for a minimal array of elemental magic. Because of this, she heavily relies on others when it concerns anything to do with battles. Strangely enough, she can take a few hits and still be able to get up; but due to her weight, (or lack of, rather) she can easily be thrown around. Kazuki may panic during some situations, which leads to incorrect note patterns; a mistake that could end up causing a lot more trouble than she is prepared for. |
