RE: Twisting Pavement
[From Ted's Fuel Stop, Crosscountry.]
After a few more hours of driving (plus stops for refreshments where Giichi could find working roadside shops), the sand cat finally caught sight of the familiar shoreline that signaled they'd be home soon. Despite being rather tired, he smiled as he smelled the beach air and listened to the sea gulls cawing above. Sand drifted across the roadway, being turned up into clouds as Giichi's car roared past. He realized they were now back at his favorite section of the beach road to go for spirited drives. Terra appeared to still be sleeping, and might not want to be distrubed. However, it'd been a long time since he'd last done this with his Ferrari Dino, so Giichi couldn't resist having a little fun. The cat stepped on the pedal, and felt himself being pressed back into his seat. Terra would definitely feel it too, as the car lurched forward and the engine behind them started singing. |

RE: Twisting Pavement
Terra was lost in the within the infinite vastness of the dream realm. He dreamed he was a kid before his powers were unleashed; a much more simpler time. The scenery changed from his peaceful home enjoying his parent's company into a hectic tornado destroying everything in his path.
He suddenly awoke in a cold sweat in the passenger seat of Giichi's Ferrari. The intense wind from the car's sudden acceleration made his mind conjure a devastating tornado in his dream. His once worried and scared expression quickly turned into an ear-to-ear grin. The rumble of the car's engine and the wind causing his dreadlock-like quills to flail about uncontrollably made him laugh tremendously, something he had not felt in quite some time. He unbuckled himself and began to stand upright very slowly and cautiously despite he thought this was a bad idea. He let out a powerful yell and felt as if he were on top of the world. |

RE: Twisting Pavement
Giichi continued to grin as the speedo climbed higher and higher, while they flew down the sandy lane. Dunes, pastel-colored cottages, and palm trees flashed past them in a blurry array of colors.
However, the smile faded a bit when he felt the weight shifting on Terra's side of the car. Giichi looked over and couldn't help but gape at the echidna's brazen screaming. Oh my god, he's standing! This could get ugly in a hurry! The cat shifted his right foot over to the brake instinctively, but then he thought better of it. If he pressed down on the brakes too hard, Terra could tumble forwards over the hood of the car and fall down to the pavement. So instead he let the car slow down on its own, glancing back and forth between Terra and the road as the car slowed down to a more manageable speed. Giichi wanted to yank him back down, but again thought the sudden movement would make things worse instead of better. So he decided to just shout instead. "Man! Sit down and buckle up! You wanna go flying out of the car?!" |

RE: Twisting Pavement
Terra halted his flippant hollering for he slightly stumbled around from the deceleration. He took a second to glance at the sand cat. He had slightly lost control of himself from the adrenaline rush. Never before had he reached such speeds.
"Sorry, I had no idea what came over me." he said with a small grin fixed on his face as he slowly sat back down. A quick click was heard from his seat-belt being fastened. He placed half his right arm out the window and enjoyed the alluring view. |

RE: Twisting Pavement
"Thank you," Giichi said, grinning as Terra sat back down. "Now here is something to scream about."
He downshifted and slammed down hard on the accelerator. The car pushed forward hard again. Up ahead, Terra would see a sharp hairpin turn bordering a beach cliff. Seagulls puttered around the pavement, with a few appearing to look up as the cherry red car approached. But despite the hairpin, the cat did not let up. They weren't that far from the drop off now. But Giichi just kept smiling, and if Terra took his eyes off the road for a second he might notice the cat reaching for the handbrake... |

"What is he up too?" Terra asked to himself. Through his peripheral vision he caught sight of Giichi's hand reaching for the break. He checked if his seat-belt was secure before sighing deeply. He was slightly nervous considering he hadn't been in a car like this before.

RE: Twisting Pavement
Giichi didn't blink as the car continued to gain speed. It almost looked like he was ready to simply drive the car through the guardrail and into the ocean. But a short distance before they reached the turn, Terra would hear a loud clanging sound as the car crossed over a storm drain in the middle of the road.
Immediately after the clang, Giichi let off the gas, snapped the handbrake up and snapped the wheel hard to the left, into the turn. This caused the rear tires to break traction, and the Ferrari went into a sideways slide into the turn. Before Terra had time to blink the cat snapped the wheel back to the right and held it there, while applying pressure to the accelerator again. The Dino went into a controlled drift around the hairpin, narrowly missing a post marking the apex of the turn. A second later the car bore down on the next straightaway, and Giichi pressed down the gas all the way. They were now flying along at speed again, almost as fast as before the turn started. In the meantime, the seagulls took flight to avoid the speeding car, making a sea of fluttering white in the rearview mirror. Now that they were safely on their way again, Giichi looked to the side to see what Terra's reaction would be. [I simply cannot resist writing posts relating to fast driving, sorry to say XD] |

RE: Twisting Pavement
Terra's body flailed every which way as Giichi executed his death-defying manuever. As things finally came to a standstill he looked at the sand cat. His once tan muzzle seemed to don an creepy white as if he had seen a ghost, his dreadlock-like quills were in a frizzy mess and a few droplets of sweat trickled his forehead. He exhaled deeply for the first time in what seemed like forever. At first a somewhat irritated expressionk was fixed on his face, then a sudden burst of laughter erupted fron him.
(XD, i guess you can't help yourself. It's always fun replying to them. That poor echidna lol) |

RE: Twisting Pavement
Giichi giggled upon seeing Terra's terrified expression, but it faded upon seeing his irritated expression. However, the laughter came back again as soon as the echidna resumed his laughter.
"We're almost home. I race along these roads all the time. so I'm very familiar with them. I use that grate in the road as a mark for when to start turning." The cat let the car assume a more relaxed pace, as they leisurely drove along the coastline and Giichi took in the scenery. Colorful parasols and beach towels dotted the sand to the left, with many swimmers, surfers, and sunbathers dotted among them. A parasailer could be seen being dragged along by a speedboat, his red and white chute bright against the blue sky. But as they left the hotels and resorts behind, the crowds started to thin too, until they appeared to be alone. Now Giichi knew they were getting close to home. As they rounded one more bend, he spotted his lonely sea cottage sitting on a high embankment above the beach. "That's my place. We'll rest there." He pulled the car into the cottage's small driveway. As they approached Terra would see that the house appeared to be rather plain and simple. Cream-colored paint adorned the stucco walls, along with red curved tile along the sloped roof to complete the Mediterranean look. However, it also appeared rather small too. They eased into a carport. |

RE: Twisting Pavement
Terra ogled at the humble abode as he exited the Ferrari and closed the door behind him. A weak smile was seen on his face as it somewhat remembered him of his mountain home not too long ago. Seeing the size of his crib popped a very good question in his head.
"This is a nice place and all, but is there enough room in there for both of us?" He asked facing the sand cat with a raised eyebrow. Although with his days of sleeping in a confined dome of rock he could not complain. "I'm sure we can make this work." He continued as he looked at Giichi for approval to advance into the little cottage |
