Name:
Spyke Hitomi

Age:
31

Sex:
Male

Species:
Wolf

Alignment:
Lawful Neutral

Clothing:
Head:
Sunglasses – Taking the place of Spyke’s old cumbersome hat, the sunglasses offer him protection against the harsh sunlight.

Torso:
Undershirt – Insulated for warmth, it aids as the most basic protection against the elements. It also serves as light padding for comfort.

Shirt – Lightweight and flexible, Spyke’s shirt offers little resistance to his body, allowing for fluid, agile movement on the battlefield. The shirt is actually composed of a microfilament metal, functioning as an advanced form of armor. Contains a hidden pocket for smoke bombs.

Cloak – Made from a silk-cotton blend, and baring the insignia of The Guardians, it replaces his old cape.

Hands:
Gloves – Made from stretched leather. Grooves etched into the palms allow for added grip. Jointed metal lines the inside of each finger to reinforce and protect against breaking. It also adds a bit extra “oomph” to his punch.

Waist and Below:
Sash – Made from the same material as cloak. Functions as comfort more than protection. The buckle is made of stainless steel and bears the Chinese kanji for “Balance”.

Pants – Made from the same material as shirt. Conceals metal reinforcement in knees and shins for support.

Shoes – Leather with steel toes for reinforcement. Extra padding and arch support are added to aid endurance in long runs.

Personality:
Spyke’s life has not been an easy one, and as such has left him cold and calculating. Quiet and reserved, he is a man of few words. He is slow to trust people and tends to keep his distance from people he is unfamiliar with. However, to his friends he is an insightful and optimistic person who will go out of his way to help and protect.

Spyke has always had a sense of humor and is not above playing practical jokes on his friends. He uses his knowledge of tricks and illusions to mess with the heads of his latest victim. He has few aspirations left in his life, and instead finds solace in helping his friends achieve their goals. However, once he sets his mind to something, he becomes dogged determined to complete it, letting very little get in his way.

Family:
Joseph Hitomi (Father, Deceased at 55)
Ariel Motina (Mother, Deceased at 26)
Samuel Hitomi (Uncle, Deceased at 47)
Lyn Hitomi (Sister, 28)
Carrie Hitomi (Wife, 28)
Henry Hitomi (Son, 4)
Augustine “Nail” Strafer (Brother-in-law, 29)

Weapons:
The Keystone: A parting gift from his father before passing. The Keystone is an ancient relic passed down through the generations of the Guardians. This relic enhances the owner’s muscle memory, durability, and ability to comprehend and store information. When held, it becomes the weapon most suitably fit to the wielder’s combat style. Held by Spyke, it takes the form of a gold-hilted katana.

Susano’o: A katana with a black blade, named after a violent Japanese god whose wrath was so great, he once caused the sun to stop shining. The sword itself was forged by a legendary smith to be “as strong and swift as the wind, yet delicate enough to cut light itself”. The blade holds true to its creator’s plan. The blade slowly absorbs light it touches, which is converted to energy to be used in attacks.

Smoke Bomb: Small ball of oxidized clay which, when broken, releases a plume of smoke. Spyke carries enough on him to use three times before having to replenish his supply.

Biography:
Birth and Childhood
Spyke was born the son of Joseph Hitomi: the White Blur, a legendary thief, and Ariel Motina, the daughter of a prison warden. He and his sister Lyn, who was conceived with another woman, were taken in by their father where they lived deep in the wilderness, away from the peering eyes of the world. It was there that Joseph planned to continue his legacy by training him into a world-class thief.

Spyke was trained in the ways of the Shokoran, a rare fighting style that he had only seen used by his father, and could find very little record of it beyond that. His sister, who was trained equally hard, did not receive Shokoran training, as part of his father’s womanizing beliefs. Frustrated that she was pushed just as hard, yet was treated poorly and learned relatively little compared to her brother, Lyn vanished one day during one of Spyke’s exclusive training sessions. Spyke would not meet his sister again for many years.

Upon returning from the training and realizing his sister’s disappearance, Spyke turned on his father, lashing out with everything he had. However, he was easily subdued and defeated, with both of his swords broken with a single slash. As a punishment and a sign of is domination, Joseph left a mark of shame across his son’s face. Three wide gashes tore deep into his flesh. The pain was enough for him to lose consciousness.

He awoke the next day, bloody and bandaged. His wounds were treated, but his spirit was still crushed. He knew that if he was to have his chance at happiness, he would have to take after his sister and escape from Joseph. Before leaving, he crudely repaired his blades using whatever metals he could find, and then headed off in the dead of night.

Teenage Years
Spyke Spent the next year living in the streets of the city before being picked up by a local gang. Calling themselves the Black Hearts, they ravaged the city, taking whatever they liked. Having connections within the local government, they were able operate unopposed by local authority. They took in the young wolf for his tenacious attitude and his disregard for those around him.

It was during these years that he gained his knowledge for tricks and traps. A bit of a tinkerer, he learned the inner workings of many small devices, how to disable triggers, and how to build small items to aid in combat.

He also learned that his father had decided to step back into the world of crime by creating his own organization: White Sun, which was quickly becoming one of the largest criminal organizations the world had ever seen. It was then he realized that his time in the gang life was coming to a close. White Sun needed to be destroyed, before Joseph could do to the world what he did to him.

The White Sun Raid
Gathering a small group of individuals with their own vendettas against White Sun, Spyke stormed its headquarters, a massive skyscraper in the middle of the city. But Joseph had been expecting them, and prepared for their arrival with his most trusted men and captains.

One by one, floor by floor, the group bested the captains, until they reached the top. Spyke allowed his group to rest, taking the elevator to the roof alone, prepared for the final confrontation with his father, and whatever else may be waiting at the top.

The two clashed like lightning, Spyke using everything he had learned in the fourteen years he had lived away from his father. Attack after attack they struck, bringing both to exhaustion. However, at the last moment, Spyke was able to deliver fatal blow, finally ending his father’s life, along with White Sun.

Laying on the roof, feeling his life slip away, along with his empire, Joseph smiled. He believed that by having his son become so strong, he was fulfilling his legacy in a different way. Whether Spyke liked it or not, his father got what he wanted in the end. The White Blur lived on. On his last breaths, Joseph told his son that he was proud of him, and lifted up the gold-hilted broadsword he had used for as long as Spyke could remember. Spyke looked on in awe as the sword transformed into a golden sphere, landing in his hands. He was left with no explanation.

Becoming a Guardian
Two years had passed after Joseph’s death. Spyke, having no reason to continue fighting, settled down in the countryside with his recently impregnated wife. He had kept the gold orb his father had given him, leaving it locked away so that no one could touch it. If it was important enough for his father to entrust it in him, it was important enough to safeguard.

He was approached one day, by an old man draped in a hood. The man had a sort of mystical air about him, and spoke unusually calmly. He asked for the orb. Obviously, Spyke was not going to simply give it up, and refused an explanation as to what the orb was, and what he wanted with it. With a chuckle, the man revealed himself to be one of the old commanders of White Sun, a man he thought dead. However, the old man was here for peaceful means, and refused to fight Spyke for the orb, instead, he revealed to him its purpose.

The orb was the true form of an ancient relic known as the Keystone, which was passed down through the generations in an organization known as the Guardians, which have existed for thousands of years. These Guardians acted to maintain the balance of power in the world. They were always few in number, but after a cataclysmic event, only one was known to survive. That event was wiped from history, but the captain revealed it was over a two thousand years ago. Since then, only two Guardians have come to light in history: the man revealing this information, and Joseph, his father. The Guardian revealed also, that Joseph’s apprentice had taken the reigns of White Sun, and has made it more powerful than ever. In order to be prepared, he offered to teach Spyke to become a Guardian, as long as he ended White Sun once and for all. Reluctantly, he agreed, and trained with the Guardian for a year, the max amount of time he would allow, before heading off to destroy the organization his father once led.

However, as he approached the doors to the headquarters, a strange rumbling overtook him. In a flash of light, he was whisked away, taking perhaps his last glance at the city he swore to protect.

Present Day
Spyke awoke lying in an open field, feeling as if he had been carried away. He was in the same world, that much was true, but when he came to where his home stood in his current time, he found it was not there. He had traveled backwards in time. Unsure if he was truly trapped, he ventured off into the world, trying to find a way back.

Moves/Combat Style:
Spyke has been trained his entire life in the ways of Shokoran, the fighting style used by the Guardians for thousands of years. In combat, he prefers to fight close quarters using quick, rapid strikes, and relies on the use of acrobatics to dodge enemy attacks. He makes use of high-powered, high-speed attacks in order to end his fights as quickly as possible. However, his attacks come at a price. The Shokoran fighting style centers around high-risk attacks which often leave the user drained of energy. The longer he fights, the more risk Spyke puts himself in of exhaustion. Many Guardians of the past have met their fate blacking out mid-fight.

Light Gague
Max: 100
Recharge rate:
Outdoors (Day): +10 per turn
Outdoors (Night): +5 per turn
Indoors (Day): +5 per turn
Indoors (Night): +0 per turn

Mark of Shame:
Light: -20
Damage: Medium
Range: Mid
Duration: One turn
Description: Spyke releases energy down the blade of both swords, performing a triple-slash in a pattern similar to the scar across his face. As he swings the blade, the energy extends from the sword for an extra five feet.

Rashomon:
Light: -20 per turn, -30 to change shape
Damage: None
Range: Close
Duration: Can be used until Light Gauge depletes.
Description: Spyke channels light energy between his blades, creating a shield of energy. This is used mainly in defense against long-range attacks. Spyke’s two most typical forms of this shield is creating a triangle shield in front of himself, or placing a sword on either side of his body for a wrap-around shield. However, the wider he stretches the shield, the weaker it becomes.

Kami Kaze
Light: -40
Damage: High
Range: Close
Duration: One turn
Description: An attack ‘inherited’ from his father. Spyke accelerates his body, causing the wind to pick up behind him. Once the wind is moving fast enough, he rushes towards his opponent and stops, letting the wind rush past him into the opponent. While when used by Joseph, this was strong enough to damage the opponent on its own, but since Spyke cannot come anywhere near his father’s speed, he supplements it with a cross-slash infused with light energy. When used effectively, this attack should damage the enemy, then push them away.

Smoke Screen
Light: -0
Damage: 0
Range: Mid
Duration: Two turns (half strength second turn)
Description: Spyke drops several smoke bombs near or around his enemy, clouding their vision so that he can rest, recharge, or escape.

Solar Recharge
Light: +25
Damage: 0
Range: None
Duration: One turn
Description: Spyke plants Susano’o into the ground, keeping it stationary so that it may reabsorb light more effectively. This leaves Spyke with only one sword for the turn, and distracts his attention towards protecting the sword.

C/S: Rain of Blades
Light -100
Damage: Very High
Range: Mid
Duration: One turn
Description: Spyke absorbs the Chaos/Sol energy into Susano’o, overcharging the blade’s power and creating a light aura around him. He then unleashes every ounce of energy he has gathered into the air. The energy then comes crashing back down onto his opponent.

Skills:
Guardian Insight: Spyke’s Guardian training has improved his perception tenfold. While he is unable to learn and copy someone’s fighting style or moves unless actually taught, he is able to quickly assess and dissect situations, quickly coming to solutions for whatever he is facing.

Encyclopedic Knowledge of Traps: Having spent a portion in his life as part of a gang of thieves, and having a background in illusion himself, Spyke has almost limitless knowledge of traps. This allows him to easily identify, disarm and, time and inventory permitting, create traps.

Shadowmeld: Stealth is important if you want to take down your target easily and without interference. Spyke has always had a natural skill for stealth, which has improved greatly throughout his life. He maximizes his stealth with his new clothing, which contain microfibers that repel light, allowing him to become all but invisible in extreme darkness.

Strengths:
+ High speed, strength and acrobatic ability
+ Shadowmeld allows him to hide from his enemies
+ Keystone allows him to train his body and mind at a rapid rate

Weaknesses:
- Stamina drains at an alarming rate.
- Eyes very sensitive to light
- Rough life has left him with few morals, and will do what he has to in order to achieve his objective, regardless of the outcome.
