Chadin
CHADIN
Picture: ![]() Age: 19 Height: 4'6" (not including antlers) 5'-9" (including antlers) Gender: Male Species: White tail deer Hair: Yellow Eyes: Gray Fur: His fur is a dark tan colour all across body with a white chest and belly fur (hidden under clothes) and a bright white patch of fur on underside of tail, which as normal for his species is rarely visible unless Chadin is startled. He has a small black patch of fur just above his nose on the top of his muzzle. He possess unguligrade style legs (essentially looks like a real deer's hind quarters yet is overall much smaller and he stands upright) Unlike most furries, Chadin only has three fingers total (including thumb) on each hand but he does not appear to have any difficulty handling objects as any other individual. He has a black scar on each cheek, just below his eyes. Also, Chadin's body is scarred by an elaborate lightning pattern of darker coloured fur. The pattern stretches all across his body from ears to hooves, but they all originate from a small metal plate at the base of Chadin's neck. Clothes: Green leather with dark a crimson trim across the shoulders and neck collar. He wears a brown leather belt with silver buckle. No shoes, with his sharp black hooves, he doesn't need them. He also wears a sash bandoleer that he uses to carry additional power packs for his crossbow. Weapons: Crossbow This special crossbow, built by his friends in the Mountain Freedom Fighters is far more than it might appear. With the limited resources available to the Freedom Fighter group, the weapon looks rough and cobbled together, but if functions brilliantly. It is designed to be collapsible for easier transit and to allow Chadin to more easily conceal his weapon in environments where the sight of a weapon might unease locals. Because the Mountain Freedom Fighters primary opponent are Robotnik's robotic minions, a mere crossbow would be all but useless. However, the groups technical genius devised an ingenious way to skirt around their technological limitations and produce a weapon that is both robust and simple in design but packs enough punch to bring down a SWAT-bot with a single well-aimed shot. Rather than firing traditional crossbow bolts, Chadin's crossbow fires energy bolts similar to a SWAT-bot's wrist blaster. In fact, Chadin is able to use the very energy cells that SWAT-bot weaponry incorporates. The big difference is in the firing of the energy bolt. With a SWAT-bot it ignites the shot with an electrical burst from it's on board power unit. Since Chadin obviously lacks such a thing, he instead uses magnets built into the body of his crossbow to pull back and launch the shot down the internal barrel. There the shot passes by essentially a spark plug that is activated by the recoiling mechanism inside the crossbow that ignites the bolt and after that flies from the muzzle of the crossbow to do its devastating work. The Ionized bolts can burn through metal armour quite effectively, but the results will vary with armour thickness and composition. On a person, Chadin will normally use a different type of ammunition that will stun an opponent rather than potentially kill them. Typically each 'clip' of ammunition holds about fifteen rounds for the armour piercing version and about twenty rounds for the non-lethal stun rounds. Chadin's crossbow is reloaded with a simply pump-action that will load the next round and retract the crossbow arms. With Chadin's keen aim, his effective range with the crossbow is about 100 feet. Beyond that, the energy bolts dissipate too much energy to be effective. Hunting knife In addition to his crossbow, Chadin also carries a small hunting knife (of course a hunting knife is usually about 6 inches long so small is a relative word). One side is razor sharp while the other side is serrated. The blade is reinforced with a special alloy that enables Chadin to even use it against a SWAT-bot. That said however, Chadin can't punch through solid sheets of metal or armour plating. It does however allow him to 'hack at the hinges'. Motor joints are typically vulnerable and thinly plated. He normally doesn't rely on this weapon since Chadin is far more comfortable fighting at range. He'll use it only when the situation calls for it, and as he's not exactly well trained in hand to hand combat, he'll often just wildly stab and slash at an opponent. In fact he's more likely to use it as a throwing knife in desperation then to use it as it might be intended. Combat Moves: 1) Critical Shot: Chadin fires a single, well aimed shot at an opponents vital areas with his crossbow. His rate of fire is much slower, but the shot has a very good chance of causing a serious injury to the target if it connects. Of course, there is still a chance an opponent can still dodge the arrow if they see it coming, but if they don't, or don't react in time they run the risk of taking some serious damage. 2) Rapid Fire: Chadin foregoes aiming down his crossbow's iron sights and shoots from the hip in order to increase his rate of fire. He'll mostly use this when fighting either multiple opponents, or opponents that need many shots to bring down. Doing this lowers his accuracy, but the hope is that the more shots will make up for this. 3) Shoot ' Scoot: Because Chadin is a keen shot and well acquainted with the forest, Chadin makes for a natural sniper. He will take one, quick shot at an opponent or group of opponents than quickly slip away while the enemy tries to figure out what just happened or where the shot just came from. Meanwhile, Chadin has snuck around to a new position and fires yet again. Wind / Electric Magic: Moves: 1) Stealth Shot: By focusing his mind on visualizing his crossbow firing quietly, Chadin is able to manipulate the air around his crossbow so that the noise that comes with firing the crossbow and the noise the arrow makes as it soars through the air is effectively muted. Thus it makes it very difficult for someone to realize where Chadin is shooting from. It's not by any means perfect however. Defects: Someone can still easily see where the shot might have come from, though they will likely only have a general idea as to where Chadin might be hiding. Further, this ability requires Chadin to concentrate on what he wants the air to do and requires he maintain this focus until he fires; once the energy bolt is in the air there is nothing he can do to mute the bolt. It simply moves too fast for him to effectively maintain silence. He will typically use this ability in conjunction with his Shoot 'n Scoot move; as a result, his rate of fire drops significantly. Also, the amount of focus he needs to put forth into this move drains Chadin quite significantly. He can only perform this move three times during a heated fight before he needs to rest after the fighting is over. 2) Shocking Grasp: This ability creates a static charge within Chadin's body. The charge actually become visible in the lightning pattern across Chadin's body until the charge reaches its peak where upon the streaks on Chadin's body glow with a bright blue energy like that of a lightning bolt and his eyes glow with the same energy. When he grasps an opponent, the electrical charge discharges into the opponent, dealing electrical damage equal to the number of rounds Chadin took to build up his charge. Instant: No more shocking that a typical static discharge. Might cause a machine to have the electrical equivalent of a hiccup but nothing more. 1 Round: A mild shock that will cause numbness in the body that was touched but no serious, lasting injury. In robots it might stun them momentarily but their systems would be able to reboot moments later. 2 Rounds: This will cause a person's muscles to clamp and spasm violently from the shock and the person will likely ache all over for some time afterward. For a Robot this has the potential to fry some of the machines' systems depending on the size and complexity of the robot. 3 Rounds: This level of charge has the potential to kill if Chadin grabs the person in such a way that the electricity crosses their heart. If not, the shock can easily send a person into literally leap away from Chadin because of the bodies natural muscle spasm and leave the person twitching and spasm violently or outright knock the person unconscious. For robots this amount of electricity has the potential to completely fry a robot's systems; again depending on the size and complexity of the machine. Furthermore, building up and releasing this much energy at once will actually hurt Chadin as well, so building a charge this long is dangerous for himself as well. Defects: This ability however, like his Silent Shot requires him to concentrate and focus in order to achieve the effect he wants. Major distractions can cause him to loose his focus, so the number of actions he can take per post becomes severely limited. This ability is the most draining on Chadin of all, second only to his wind shield. During the heat of a fight this means Chadin is only able to use this move 4 times before his body is too strained to perform this trick more. And unlike his Stealth Shot, he won't be able to recuperate enough to use this attack again until after the fight. While the Stealth Shot requires mental focus, this move is much more demanding on his body and he has to be given much more time to recover in a calm setting. Lastly, this move demands that Chadin gets up close with an opponent, an area of combat Chadin prefers to avoid. 3) Wind Shield: (Single Directional Shield) When finding himself in a dire situation, cornered with nowhere to run, Chadin's mind panics and momentarily loses control over his wind powers and results in an explosion of fear-induced energy can be unleashed in a violent tornado-like vortex in which ever direction he percieves a serious threat is coming from. The vortex has a strong chance of knocking a ranged attack like an arrow off course before it can hit him. However things like bullets are completely uneffected by the winds due to their sheer velocity. But because of the sudden violence of the winds the shield creates, it does have a small chance of knocking a nearby opponent back a short distance depending on how close they are to Chadin at the time and how heavy that opponent might be. But, the most likely result would be that the sudden wind will stun or surprise the attacker long enough for Chadin to try get clear of the situation. (E.G. like getting some distance between himself and the opponent) Defects: This ability isn't one he can simply conjure up on the spot. It requires special circumstances to bring out this power. He's basically got to be cornered and someone is about to do a coup de grace on him or something before this power is released. Further, being a vortex of wind, it won't be able to prevent someone from throwing a punch or other melee attack through the barrier to hit him. Another downside of this ability is that it does not last long at all; it is almost an instantenous burst of energy so it has no staying power. The last, and probably biggest draw-back to this technique is that it leaves Chadin thoroughly exhausted. He can still run for it if need be, but using anymore of his wind powers would be impossible until he's had time to sufficiently rest and recover. Skills: First Aid: Through his father, Chadin has learned how to use natural plants and herbs to speed the healing process, and also how to treat most kinds of injuries. He also knows how to splint broken limbs but he can't do anything to treat bullet wounds or the like. He would need a professional doctor with the proper facilities to treat such extensive injuries. History: Growing up in the Great Forest, or more specifically the mountainous region of the Great Forest, Chadin was very much removed from the events of the Great War the Kingdom of Acorn waged with the Overlanders. His father Raidyn served as a soldier in the war but luck it seemed was on the strong stag's side. He returned to his family homestead in the Great Forest as a decorated war veteran, and after watching many of his peaceful friends and neighbors slain during the war, he took it upon himself to teach his young son the ways of battle. He personally saw the blood-lust of the Overlanders and knew it was only inevitable that the barbaric Overlanders would return to stit up trouble once more. As the Kingdom of Acorn did not allow the use of guns as the Overlanders used, Raidyn taught Chadin in the martial ways of combat. He quickly found that his young son was a gifted marksmen, and thus he focused on teaching him the ways of the bow and eventually the crossbow is where Chadin truly started to show his greatest potential. Raidyn also made sure to teach his son about the forest and how to survive there. For deer the fawns usually lose their spots around 5-10 years old, but for the bucks their antlers don't start developing for a couple more years yet. In that time period, it is nearly impossible for one to distinguish a doe from a buck at first glance. And having congenital twins (a boy and a girl) for deer is something that is fairly common. As such, Chadin's family has an ancient right of passage tradition where the winter the male loses their spots, they must endure a survival test deep in the woods. Once the test is complete, the family crest is seared into the flesh below each eye, as a symbol of passage from fawn to buck. This ritual is only performed on the male, and is viewed as a badge of honour among deer. Unfortunately for Chadin and his family, Rayden predication about the Overlanders proved to be correct. However, the exact circumstances of Raidyn never even dreamed about. The one Overlander the Mobian's thought they could trust, one Ivo Kintobor, and indeed the very key to their victory over the Overlanders, betrayed them all. He unleashed the robotic army he built to protect the Mobian's on them and claimed Mobotroplis for himself and renamed it Robotroplis in honour of his new title: Dr. Robotnik. But the Doctor was no merely satisfied with overthrowing the House of Acorn, oh no. He wanted the entire planet. Robotnik sent out robots across the globe with the fiendish dream of world domination. Like everywhere else Chadin's mountain home came under siege. The advancing robot armies set the whole forest ablaze. Chadin's family fled for their lives, but as Chadin ran, he stumbled and fell into a deep cave. Chadin did not know what happened to his parents, but afterward he awoke to find himself in the medical ward of the Mountain Freedom Fighters. Apparently they found him in the cave after they put out the fires, but they found no trace of his parents. Chadin was devastated, but eventually, he swore vengeance on Robotnik and joined the Mountain Freedom Fighters as a means to achieve that goal. Since then, Chadin became a valuable member of the MFF and accompanied them on many missions to thwart Robotnik's repeated attempts to gain ground into their mountain home. It would be on one mission though that changes many things for Chadin. One of their group betrays the MFF and Chadin is captured. He is experimented on and implanted with a mind control device at the base of his neck as part of a diabolical plan to destroy the MFF for good. The plan is foiled when one of the MFF plugs a high voltage power cable into the mind control chip in Chadin's neck. Chadin miraculously survived the whole ordeal, but his body and fur has been permanently scarred by the electricity. His body is now covered in miniature lightning bolts; a permanent map of the path the electricity took through his body; and each and every path eventually leads back to the chip in his neck. The surge fried the mind control device, but none of the MFF have the technical knowledge to safely remove the device. He and the MFF know of the location to Knothole Village, the central headquarters for the Freedom Fighters and home to the famed heroes who reside there. Chadin actually got the chance to meet those heroes once, but that was before, the event. A message had been sent out to all Freedom Fighter Groups that a problem was brewing in Robotropolis and that they needed all the help they could get. As the rest of the MFF was busy at the time and Chadin freshly recovered from his electrical injuries, Chadin departed to assist. He never got to Knothole however. As he made his way across the Great Forest, a brilliant flash of light illuminated the night sky and the world itself seemed to bend and rip itself apart. When Chadin awoke, he found himself in a strange, new world. What's more, he will soon learn that the strange event that caused the worlds to merge has also gifted him strange new abilities he has never seen before and must now learn to master. Personality: Chadin USED to be a very friendly, easy to approach buck. Now however, after the pain he endured because of one person's betrayal, Chadin is much more cynical and wary of others. He is torn between extending his trust because while one that he thought had been an ally betrayed him, his other allies still came through saved him from a doomed existence. He approaches new people with a distant and wary unease and is slow to build trust now. Nevertheless, he will still treat people civilly and if they do prove trust worthy he will likely stand by that person to the death. He can be a bit jumpy sometimes, being a deer and all, but he has spent several years now fighting Robotnik, so he is quite a capable combatant. Strengths: He is an extremely effective long range combatant with the use of his Crossbow, and has some minor training in how to fight close quarters thanks to his dad. Also, thanks to his new abilities to harness wind and electric magic, it further boosts his ranged and close-quarter's abilities and allows for some down-right sneaky tricks with his shooting. What fighting skills he does know is mostly limited bits of martial fighting skills, a few kicks, punches, and take downs. Weaknesses: Despite having some training in close range combat, his shocking grasp ability, and his tornado shield wind magic that might help him out of an extremely tight spot, close range fighting is by far his greatest weakness. He lacks much in the way of upper body strength. It should be noted however that, if he does manage to kick you with those sharp cervine hooves of his, it is still going to really smart. Furthermore, Chadin's new powers might be of great use to him in time, but right for now he has no knowledge of these powers, how to activate them or even how to control them. This means that Chadin is almost as dangerous to himself as he is to anyone else. Overall, he's got much to learn, but don't underestimate him, especially his aim. |
