Ray (the Flying Squirrel)

Species: Furry; Flying Squirrel
Faction: Not technically a part of the Freedom Fighters and/or Chaotix, but would be considered involved with them.
Appearance -

Has light yellow fur, and teal-blue eyes. Has a large, bushy tail, and shoes similar to Sonic's. Is about Tails's height and weight (though his bones are slightly lighter to allow flight). Has a similar colored muzzle to Sonic's, but with a hint of red. Wears a light blue leather jacket.

Personality - Has a timid personality, and usually shy. Doesn't speak out often, and will keep to himself in crowds. Very kind and polite to his friends, but uncomfortable with strangers. Is more confident when his best friend Mighty is around. Due to his time in the wilderness, he's more of a loner, and thus not openly a a social type. Although he doesn't understand things like politics, economy, slavery, or world domination, he does have a grudge againt Robotnik when he destroys nature. Moreso than fighting for the good of friends, people, and the world (like Sonic does), Ray personally fights for the good of nature, the animal critters who live around in the forests, and to defend the forests themselves.


Family - Thinks of Mighty as his close, trusted older brother.

Transport: His bushy tail and lighter bones allow flight.

Weapons - When forced to fight, will primarily use kicks, and punches sometimes as well. Can also whip at opponents with his large tail, and Whirl Dash.

Biography - Ray's first, and so far only major, adventure was when he was kidnapped by Robotnik (Mighty and Sonic were as well), and they worked together to escape his evil clutches. This is how he met them both, though he didn't specifically see Sonic in person much after that.

Ray is usually alone, by himself. He primarily sticks to the Mystic Ruins, and the other wilderness, and thus doesn't go into Station Square often. He met Mighty when he was very young, and they have been friends since then. He looks up to him as an older brotherly figure, and through him became introducted to the Chaotix and Sonic. Though he never fights against Robotnik's evil empire, he secretly wishes inside that he was stronger and braver, like Mighty and Sonic, and hopes to one day help them by their side.

Recently, Ray has been opening up to new things and people, hoping to meet all of Sonic and Mighty's friends. He's been seen visiting Station Square more lately. But, of course, with this also comes the chances he'll be involved with the fight against evil.

Moves:

Flight: Ray can slightly flatten, then flap, his bushy tail to fly into the air. Although he can fly fast, it does become tiring. He can levitiate/hover in place, but not nearly as well as Tails can. He can only hover for a short time before getting tired.

Whirl Dash: Ray cannot Spin Dash like Sonic. Rather, just like Espio, he can spin like a top on his toe to create a similar effect, it just doesn't transport him quickly like a Spin Dash does. He is "invincible" to physical attacks to some extent at this point. The downsides are, Ray cannot perform the Whirl Dash for long, and when moving, it is not as fast as the Spin Dash.

Tail Whip: Like Tails, Ray can use his tail to attack by whipping it out at others with force, or spinning with it outstretched (which is borderline Whirl Dash). While this may be good for attacking or spinning around enemies, if the enemy has a blade (like a sword), or grabs his tail, they can easily counter-attack with very painful results. Also, the Tail Whip does low damage to metal armor or robots.

Skills: Survival and Navigation in the Wilderness. He knows his way around.

Strengths: Ray, when flying, can fly faster than Tails, Charmy, Cream, Rouge, etc.

Weaknesses: Ray is physically weak, and thus not an experienced fighter. Also, despite his speed, he still gets tired when flying. He's also moderately slow on foot.
