Qesun Vendak
Name: Qesun Jerimiah Vendak, Jr.
Alias: Q, QJ, Jerry, Quesadilla, and a half dozen other things. Age: 23 Sex: Male Species: Mixed ('Foxcoon,' Cheetah) Faction: Council of Soleana Alignment: Hero Appearance: ![]() (Yea, the legs are a little off, but besides that, it's a pretty good depiction of the guy. Just pretend he's got normal legs in the picture. )Physically, QJ is a wiry sort. His ears have maintained the more fox like shape like his father's, but his muzzle is more feline in natures, as well as his more wiry and short haired tail. He stands around 3'9 in height. He's in good shape, partially at a friend's urgings and partially due to a number of entertaining activities and job opportunities being outside for him. His primary fur color is a basic tan coloring. Most of his markings are black fur. his markings include a raccoon-like 'bandit mask,' black tips on his ears, rings down the latter 2/3rds of his tail, 3 lines that go down his back and spots that are thick on his back and thin as they move on to his sides and shoulders, and thin again before moving to his upper arms and thighs, and thin again before moving on to his head, forearms, and lower legs. Down his back around his back bone his fur is a red color and it radiates from there onto his back and shoulders, fading into the tan. The tops of his feet and on the backs of his hands he has red tint as well. He also has some white fur, mainly on the bottom half of his muzzle, the front quarter of his neck, his chest, his abdomen, the undersides of his arms and up into his armpits, the insides of his legs up into his pelvic region. His tail is also tipped white after the last ring. His eyes, probably picked up from the father, are green in hue. Additionally, his head hair is kept medium-short in length, is brown in color, and is typically more or less messily combed back. QJ usually likes loose fitting pants or shorts, as they're not as restrictive on his movements. Tee-shirts are a favorite as well, but few people dislike those in all truth. His favorite get up involves a tan pair of khakis with cargo pockets, a white tee-shirt, a tan sleeveless vest with 6 pockets down the front, a pair of brown boots, and a brown leather fedora. He won't lie to you about where he got the idea for the fedora. He also has a brown bag that he likes specifically for taking on assignment. It's best described as bearing an appearance to the bags medics carried in WWII on our world, except without a red cross symbol and is simply a brown canvas. Personality: Jerry (one of his nicknames, of many) tends to be a happy go lucky sort. He'd much rather just go with the flow of things then try to make any sort of big deal out of them (let alone any sort of deal). In all truth, it isn't worth the energy to get mad or stressed about something from his POV. If he truly wants something, he will put in the effort to get it and to do it right. He can be sarcastic and occasionally rubs people the wrong way as he has a habit of teasing people, though in the end, he means nothing of it other then a little friendly ribbing. If one makes an enemy of him, a sharp wit much like his fathers tends to surface and snipe at every little hole one leaves for him. When he gets truly, deeply angry, he becomes more like his father, and can be cold, calculating, and vengeful. In a battle of wits, he'll do his very best to tear you down. In the more violent sort of battle, he's likely to focus primarily on the individual that drew his ire and won't stop until the individual is unconscious or unable to fight. If he fails in either case, he'll go brood silently alone, probably thinking over different scenarios in how to deal with the situation next time while he cools off. In a dangerous situation, he's more likely to do something rash (or stupid, though he'll deny it) first. He's highly confident in his skill and ability to the point of being cocky. Family: Qesun Vendak, Sr. - [50 years old] QJ's father. Former adventurer and guide. Has been doing work again helping explore the farther corners of the world again, seeing as it's not the same as before. Tatiana Vendak - [49 years old] QJ's mother. She was formally an anthropologist at a University in Station Square. Now works at a college in Soleana. Nadia Vendak - [23 years old] QJ's Sister. Fraternal Twin. She's busy applying to colleges in Soleana, trying to get her education restarted. Highly intrigued by magic. Transport: Regionus Motor Bikes 1550 Enduro Inception Motor: 800cc inline 4 cylinder Weight: 321lbs Appearance: It looks something like a mix between a sport bike and a dirt bike, having a sleek design, high ground clearance, and minimalist body. It was purchased by his father as a graduation present. In all truth, the reason it looks like it's built for off road is because it was. It has tires on it designed to perform decently both on and off road, though in being a jack of all trades, it doesn't excel at either. Weapons: Legge and Giustizia: The name for this pair of pistols came from looking at the Scales of Justice once when trying to decide their names. They're a bit heavier then his father's, but built in similar methods seeing as the style of fighting was passed down from father to son. It uses .4 caliber rounds and holds 8 of them per clip. Just as his father's weapons were designed, they're reinforced along the barrel to take the rigors of melee combat. Along the bottom of the barrels are reinforced slide locks. There is a pair of bayonets about a foot in length (counting handles) that go in these. Biography: QJ was born and raised in Station Square. He was born into a successful family, his parents both holding strong careers. Even as a child, he'd been known to poke around more then others, often finding ways out of confines set for him through physical methods (as telling him not to never worked). His parents suffered some exacerbation after caused some trouble to distract his preschool teacher long enough for him to get out. His escape attempts were repeated enough to the point the preschool teacher said she wouldn't watch him any more. When it came time for primary schooling, his father decided it would be best to send QJ and his sister to private schools rather then public schools to avoid some of the situations he had when he was their ages. That still didn't seem to keep QJ from getting himself in trouble though. He was a far more active individual and found pranks to be quite entertaining. He also wasn't afraid to speak his opinion of people (which back then could suffice with 'you're a big fat doody head'). This caused a number of other students to grow to dislike him, particularly the ones who already saw him as an invader in a domain he didn't belong and the ones who liked to bully others about. This all ended up in something Qesun was all too familiar with. QJ began getting into scuffles. About as many as he used to when he was younger, with the exception that the private school was not as patient as the public ones. Running out of options, Qesun decided to teach discipline to his son in a similar way he had learned it in the past. He began teaching his son the basic Katas of his own martial art, Taihouken. Like many other arts, it had plenty of ways to work with just one's body and mind. Furthermore, it was just katas, which didn't really teach any of the truly violent features. On top of having some more regular talks with his kid, the training helped QJ calm down enough to not get himself expelled (granted, it was just because of less fights. At this point, he'd long learned how to get away with his pranks without getting in trouble). In middle school he began to care a little more about his academic performance. Furthermore, his pranks began to shift from targeting everyone to just those who fundamentally bugged the hell out of him. Simply put, his vengeful streak began to show. Whenever trouble befell him or his friends, he'd strike back with increasingly broad scale pranks. This eventually boiled down to a troubling encounter that spun into another 'fight.' The problem this time is a number of kids who he'd made enemies of decided to work together on this despite any differences they may have had with each other (if any). Suffice it to say, he'd come home sufficiently bloodied and a lesson well learned on making too many people angry at you. He also came home with a suspension (which just about everyone involved in the fight did). He spent the rest of the year rather brooding and trying to avoid sparking that scat pile back up again, only thankful that it was his last year at this school. 9th grade was a new year at a new school. An opportunity to get beyond past troubles since he had few 'familiar faces' to have trouble with. Furthermore, the collective maturing those few and QJ had was enough to keep them from going out of each other's ways to bang heads. With no real reason to bang heads with people anymore, the incidents of pranks and trouble from QJ dramatically dropped. Furthermore, since he was not making so many enemies by pissing everyone off, he made a lot more friends this time around. This was found to be a lot more enjoyable in the end then any of the pranks were. It was at this point that Qesun figured QJ was mature enough to learn the 'Meat and Potatoes' of Taihouken. He was woken up early every morning for this. His schedule, for the most part was a packed thing for those years. Practice early in the morning, school, and homework, and then going out and doing whatever with friends over the weekends. It was a pace maintained into College. As far as Qesun was concerned, this was a requirement, not an option. At first, QJ was partially resistant to this, but mainly because he had no clue what he wanted to do with his life. Qesun was rather firm, though. Eventually, they found something that QJ took some interest in. Archeology would allow him to travel and discover things, some of which had been untouched for centuries, each with its own little mystery to solve. And soon he was deep in school again. On the days when not inundated with homework, he enjoyed the nightlife and tried to not get into too many bar fights. He did a short vigilante stint, though his father figured it out quick and put a stop to it. If not for the fact he had ended up graduating a semester early, his final semester would have been rudely interrupted by the worlds merging. Like many who lived in Station Square, he suddenly found himself in the middle of a dictator's home grounds. He, his family, and several friends, decided it was time to bail. With no where else to go, they made their way to Soleana. As QJ learned of that had happened there, he made a decision: What good was freeing Station Square if the world was on the edge of destroying itself. Instead, he planted himself in Soleana and put his efforts to helping find the broken emeralds. Moves/Combat Style: Taihouken Style: A currently emerging modern style of martial arts. It's a quick form with sharp attacks, though not always the heaviest. The point of it is to get the blows in there and make them count, often trying to aim for crippling blows. It also tends to be partial to counter attacks, though few of these are throws or grapples. This preference has grown to begin teaching students how to watch for and read subtle movements and basic body language in an attempt to preempt the opponent's attack. Some more refined practitioners are even known to create a perceived openings to try and induce attacks to take advantage of Taihouken's strength here. One of the more interesting attributes of the style is that its weapons training is built around 'modern weapons' (or to be more accurate, weapons that would be more common) more then any traditional weapons. Combat knives, bayonets, police batons, night sticks, handguns, and even umbrellas have a home within the style. The most unique of those is the pairing of handguns and bayonets. QJ is one of the number of individuals to have delved deep enough to get into weapons training. Part of this is because he got into Taihouken early on due to his father having been a long time practitioner and certified trainer. This meant he got all the basics and much of the intermediary work out of the way when he was younger. Despite being far from a master of the art, QJ is still notable among the community because he's one of the few who have been trained in the use of the gun/blade combo. Double-Double-Double Tap Damage Level: Per Bullet (Each bullet is 'Low') Charge Time: One Post Time Limit: N/A Move Description: QJ spends his first turn spinning his gun about like a rodeo gunshowman. The purpose of this is to build up speed and momentum. And just like a gunshowman, this is followed by feats of marksmanship. While the weapon is still spinning at rapid pace he fires 6 shots, either at the same target or strafed across an area at multiple foes. 3 double-taps rolled into one spin. He's still working on the marksman part, as aiming bullets while spinning guns haphazardly isn't easy. Tends to waste a lot of bullets and time, and a little energy. Javelin Kick: Damage Level: High Charge Time: One Post Time Limit: N/A Move Description: Being part cheetah, and getting most of the build for it, Qesun Jr. can get to some pretty high speeds. In this case, as a way to close the distance quickly and provide himself an opening move, he does something like this. It has to start up at a range, as it needs time to build up speed. He hones in right on his target, and jumps into a mid-height kick, aimed for the chest. The goal is to put as much force into the kick by providing as much momentum as possible, knocking breath out of them and knocking them to the ground. In all truth, it's kinda easy to dodge, as one will see him coming from a fair distance away. This takes a lot of energy as Qesun has to build up speed, first, often pushing his top speeds. Chaos/Sol Move: Hyperfocus Damage Level: - Charge Time: Three Posts Time Limit: Three Posts Move Description: Taking time to focus and gather the terrible energies of the Chaos/Sol, QJ enters a higher state of awareness. He seems to have an idea of where everything is around him and what it's doing. Using this new found awareness, QJ seems to be able to push the limits of Taihouken to actually preempt near any attack. After the energy burns off, though, QJ would find himself burnt out, both mentally and physically from the stress Chaos/Sol energy tends to put on any body. Team Burst: - None Skills: Archeology: It's what he went to college for and where his interests lie. Going to exotic locations and piecing together the world's past, finding its secrets and revealing its lies. The idea makes him happy. He's fresh to the field, just out of college from the semester before last, basically finishing a little early. He hasn't picked up a job yet. Linguistics: Old languages, dead languages, other languages, he seems to have a talent and a skill for eventually figuring them out. A attribute that makes him particularly useful for employers since he has little trouble figuring ancient languages out. Drawing: Kinda half picked up out of boredom, and half picked up because it helped record findings. He's not to hot trying to draw out of imagination, but when drawing something that exists, he does well enough. Camping/Survival: Whether alone or with good friends, spending a few days out in the wilderness reading books, fishing, and generally laying back is nice. It's a regular habit of his, truth be told. There are some times he goes out there with just what will fit in his bag and back pack and half way live off the land for the while through fishing and other methods. Strengths: + Fleet Footed - QJ is very quick on foot. Still no where near as fast as sonic, he can still outrun a majority of others out there. [150mph] + Cat-like Reflexes - And that's only if they're not Fox-like. Generally all around quick and agile. + Insightful - Tends to know where to dig for information. And for some reason (maybe QJ's innocent face?) these people actually want to give some of it. Weaknesses: - Out of breath already?: These dashes tend to be just that. If he runs for too long he'll run himself to exhaustion. - Slight Frame: Not a hard hitter nor can he take a lot of hits. Tends to go down easy. - Rough Edges: QJ's personality is often known to instigate a number of people into being less then cooperative. - Blatant Hero: For some reason, every factor of QJ seems to scream 'hero' to villainous sorts, something no number attempts to say or do otherwise seems to counter. - Idealist: He's prone to give villains and opportunity to change far before simply blasting their heads off (exception: Horde of minions trying to blow his brains out). If not that, he'd rather turn them in for proper trial. |
