Sonic the Hedgehog
Biography Section
Name: Sonic Age: 17 Birthday: June 23 Gender: Male Species: Hedgehog Family: Sonic thinks of Tails as his little brother Transportation: Power Sneakers Height: 100 centimetres Weight: 35 kilograms Appearance Sonic is a bipedal hedgehog furry with quills of royal blue. Said quills are styled to point backwards behind him, making him more streamlined. It is entirely possible that this may be a side-effect of his high-speed habits rather than an intentional style. Patches of bare skin appear on his belly, arms, muzzle and within his triangular ears. He stands fully grown a few inches over three feet tall with long, skinny arms and legs. Sonic's eyes are home to emerald green irises, which look out into the world from above his black nose. Sonic sports a pair of white gloves over his hands and some slick sneakers on his feet. The sneakers are primarily red with a white line crossing over them half-way between the heel and the toe area. Other than that he doesn't sweat the whole "clothes" thing too much. Personality Sonic the Hedgehog was born with an incredible gift that he isn't above being proud of. Whenever life has thrown a challenge at him he always tested it against his speed and so far he's come out in the lead. Sonic does what he does with confidence in himself that can't be measured, but it isn't just arrogance. Sonic's skill is the real deal. That said, he isn't one to lord his talents over others, but he will show them off to an audience. If facing off against an opponent who thinks they are his superior Sonic's competitive side rises up and he won't hold back on showing off just what he can do. The hedgehog can certainly have a bit of a temper when it comes to challenges or bullies, but he's still a nice guy at heart. Though far from legalistic, Sonic detests knavish acts. The only thing he really hates in the world is oppression, due to his love for freedom. He won't hesitate to stand up for those who need someone to do just that. He's proven that he has no problem with putting himself in serious danger to life and limb for the sake of protecting others, even complete strangers, but it is also true that his boundless self-confidence probably plays a part in that. Sonic's morals have never once let him think about taking the life of another, even though his greatest enemy has threatened the world many times over and is bound to do so again in the future. Something of a pacifist at heart, Sonic will always hope that those he meets as enemies could someday, at the least, become friendly rivals. The final part of Sonic's persona, and the one most apparent to those who make up his circle of friends, would be his free-spirited nature. Running free without a worry and able to relax in dangerous environments let Sonic keep a cool head in the face of danger. While he'll always be a thrill-seeker, he's not likely to turn down the chance to slow down and chill out for a good while, especially after a great run. Though he is a world-famous hero thanks to his gift and his deeds, Sonic isn't one for the lifestyle of the well-known. He doesn't try to play his fame as a way of getting anything he wants or seek out attention from fans. Sonic is a hedgehog of simple tastes, enjoying chili dogs for snacking, rock and roll for listening, and shady spots for napping. He's also not above tossing out a few break-dancing moves in times of celebration. Famous or not Sonic does consider himself to be one of the coolest guys around, and it doesn't take much of a search to find someone who agrees. History Sonic the Hedgehog had an amazing gift apparent from a very young age. He was fast. Real fast, especially for a child. As he grew up Sonic only got faster and more athletic, always happy to show off for an audience. Along with his amazing talents came a desire to use his speed to travel the world, maybe see if there was anyone out there faster than himself. As a teenager he left his homeland and traveled to South Island in a plane named the Tornado, where he met a lot of friendly native creatures. The animals were amazed by Sonic's speed and to them it was completely new, unlike the kids Sonic grew up with who were aware of his talent all their lives. He spent a lot of time there with the animals, making friends and exploring the large island with just his two feet like he had dreamed of doing. One day Sonic had made an unnerving discovery. His animal friends were disappearing at an alarming rate, and dangerous robots were appearing on the island. When attacked Sonic fought back with a Super Sonic Spin, rolling into a ball and letting his spines damage the enemy. His technique destroyed the robotic antagonist, but surprisingly enough it also caused an animal within to be freed. Sonic eventually learned that a human calling himself Doctor Robotnik had shown up on the island and started capturing the local wildlife. The mad man was placing everyone inside strange pods he called roboticizers and turning them into batteries for his robots. At the end of Green Hill Sonic came face to face with the one named Ivo Robotnik for the very first time, and it was a meeting neither of them would soon forget. Speechless as to how one hedgehog had managed to clear a path through his army of robots so easily the genius decided to put an end to the rodent himself with his Checker Wrecker Ball weapon. Sonic had never fought against such an opponent before but with speed on his side he outran and outfought the Doctor's hovercraft, forcing the scientist to retreat. After that Sonic was free to destroy the Roboticizer that Ivo had been preparing to use, freeing all of the Zone's captured inhabitants. The animals were thankful to Sonic, who was in turn glad to see his friends were all right. Though the Green Hill Zone was safe Sonic knew he couldn't ignore the danger Robotnik posed to the rest of the island. Here in the south human nations weren't as present as the animal and furry populations, no doubt the reason this locale had been the set of Robotnik's scheme in order to stay out of GUN's eye as long as possible. Coming here and exploring the natural wonders while enjoying the company of all his friends was the greatest joy Sonic had yet experienced in his young life. Even though his first assault against Robotnik had been driven by the instinct to protect those dear to him, Sonic knew he couldn't let anyone threaten that joy for his sake and for the sake of others. It was his choice how to use the gift he was born with and his decision was soon made. Wanting to make sure South Island was as great a place as it was the day he arrived, Sonic started running in the direction that he had seen the Doctor fly off. He told his friends that he would do everything he could to repay the Island for being so good to him. Sonic knew that if Robotnik was creating such machines then he must have some kind of lab or factory here on Island. With his speed he would pursue Robotnik endlessly until the antagonist led the hedgehog to that place so he could shut it down for good. He also decided to make sure that the Doctor's true plan didn't succeed by finding the six Chaos Emeralds that the villain was hiding. As far as Sonic was concerned, he was fast enough to do both at once. Sonic chased Robotnik from one end of South Island to the other, destroying the Roboticizers and rescuing the locals every place he was led while fighting off Robotnik's attacks over and over. Over time Sonic found the chase to be an amazing adventure, having more fun every time he saw the Doc fly off in a fit at the latest defeat Sonic dealt him. The traps laid out for him turned into thrills and the animals he rescued thanked him wholeheartedly, and best of all he was finding Chaos Emeralds to keep them out of Robotnik's reach. Though he was doing it for a good cause, Sonic would have been lying to himself if he didn't admit that he was starting to have fun. Eventually Sonic, with all six Emeralds in tow, did manage to force Robotnik all the way back to his Scrap Brain Zone. The hedgehog hero made his way through the deadly factory, freeing animals and shutting down the systems as he went. Eventually Robotnik trapped the quickster in a small area where he attempted to put an end to the unexpected troubles he'd been subjected to. Sonic beat the odds and evaded Ivo's final trap long enough to destroy the machinery used to operate it. Robotnik was utterly defeated and fled the scene to his awaiting hovercraft. Being much faster than Robtnik, Sonic could have easily caught the Doctor and made him pay for what he'd done, but as far as Sonic could tell no one had been permanently hurt. The thought of killing or even hurting the villain never crossed the hedgehog's mind as being the right thing to do. All the same, it didn't stop him from hitting the hovercraft with one last Sonic Spin and making sure that the ride off of South island was a bumpy one for his antagonist. With the peace of the island restored Sonic raced back to his friends at the Green Hill Zone, where everyone was happy to see him. At this time the speedy hero felt a strange power from within the six Chaos Emeralds he'd collected and instinctively released them from his hold. The energy of the Emeralds filled the area, causing the natural beauty to grow even more lush and healthy as if to restore the damage Robotnik's invasion had done. After that the Emeralds themselves seemed to disappear into the sky, flying off to some unknown location. Sonic spent a while longer on South Island, but since Robotnik had led him to almost all of the cool places already there wasn't much exploring left to do. When his friends asked him why he had risked everything to fight Dr. Robotnik and what he would do if the madman ever came back, Sonic simply said that he did it because he wanted to and that he'd come back and do it again. Sonic had been told when he was younger that his gift of speed was special and something he should use for important things. Sonic however had disagreed, deciding a while back that he should use his gift to do what made him happy, whatever it may be. Being a person who got a lot of happiness out of life from simple things, Sonic had decided at the start of this recent adventure that his gift was best used to not let anyone take away what was most important to him and the people. The hedgehog's hate for bullies and oppressors was born from this very adventure. Some time after leaving South Island Sonic visited Never Lake. He'd heard that the mysterious Little Planet was nearing the end of its annual month-long appearance and didn't want to miss the chance to see it. Along the way, however, he had to deal with a small annoyance in the form of a female hedgehog called Rosy the Rascal. She had apparently heard about Sonic's exploits against the terrorist Doctor Robotnik and would somehow eventually come to the conclusion that he and she should get married, though for now it was at least more of a fan girl crush. While visiting Never Lake and trying to deal with his new follower Sonic was surprised to see another robotic version of himself appear and kidnap the pink hedgehog, flying her up to the mysterious time-defying Little Planet. Aware that Robotnik had returned and that Rosy had been kidnapped in order to lure him into a trap Sonic took responsibility and bravely ascended after the young girl. While traveling across Little Planet Sonic discovered that time itself could be passed through because of seven mysterious gems known as the Time Stones. In each region he saw a future in which Robotnik had taken over, but he also used the power of time to rewrite the Planet's history and free it from the Doctor's influence while keeping the Stones out of the greedy human's grasp. Eventually he caught up with the being called Metal Sonic once again and raced it across a dangerous speedway with Rosy's safety on the line. The blue blur proved true to his nickname and outpaced his copy just in time to see Robotnik attack it himself, possibly by pure accident. With the codenamed Metallix out of the way and his biggest fan safe Sonic proceeded to erase the last of his enemy's influences from Little planet's time line and drive the villain away once more before the planet itself disappeared for another year until its next scheduled month-long appearance. Sonic decided his next goal would be a vacation on Westside Island in order to have a peaceful adventure after the two Robotnik incidents. It was there that his incredible speed was witnessed by a young fox by the name of Miles Prower. The fox started chasing after Sonic, who was amazed to find that not only could the young cub spin his unusual twin tails in order to fly, but that he could actually keep up with Sonic's speed to a certain degree. Sonic had wanted to see if he could find anyone like him when he first left Christmas Island, and quickly became good friends with the younger furry. Of course, every now and then while the fox Sonic called by the nickname Tails was following him Sonic couldn't resist showing off with a sudden burst of speed that left Miles in the dust. Unfortunately, Sonic didn't know that the evil Doctor Robotnik had followed his biplane the Tornado to the Island and was planning to use a legend about an ancient Westside Island civilization's use of the seven Chaos Emeralds to power his new ultimate weapon, a deadly space station named the Death Egg. It wasn't too long before Sonic's newest friends started disappearing as Eggman launched a full-scale attack on the Island, turning animals into mindless drones to help him build and defend his newest project. Sonic was quick to go after Robotnik and his roboticizers once again, this time with his new partner Tails coming along for the ride. Tails also knew about the legend of seven Chaos Emeralds too, and Sonic knew from past experience that they'd have to find them all in order to prevent a disaster. Sonic and Tails battled their way across Westside Island while freeing animals, destroying Robotnik's constructions and searching out the Emeralds. The world military was barely aware of the Doctor's scheme before the furry heroes had already chased him down to his base of operations. During the journey Sonic had made an amazing discovery. With all seven Chaos Emeralds in hand and the energy of fifty Power Rings he was suddenly transformed into an incredibly powerful being soon to be named Super Sonic. Robotnik was witness to this transformation first-hand after it effortlessly decimated many of his robots and became well-aware that he could not defeat it through normal means. In the end, after Tails flew Sonic to Robotnik's escaping spaceship on the Tornado and the hedgehog escaped the scientist's traps within, the Tornado was shot down by the larger craft's lasers. Sonic leaped from the damaged ship and held onto the rising vessel, riding it all the way to the upper atmosphere where Robotnik's Death Egg awaited it. Inside the Death Egg Sonic had no access to Power Rings, making a transformation to his super form impossible even with the seven Chaos Emeralds. That was Robtonik's plan as he sent his creation Silver Sonic, a second robotic copy of the blue blur, to kill its design inspiration and retrieve the Emeralds. Sonic reminded his nemesis that he was threat even without his super form by destroying both Silver Sonic and then a giant mech armour piloted by the Doctor himself afterwards. A chain reaction caused the Death Egg to begin falling out of orbit so Sonic leaped into the atmosphere on nothing but a hunch, only to be rescued by Tails in the Tornado, which the fox had quickly repaired with his advanced mechanical skills. With Robotnik's weapon fallen and all of the Chaos Emeralds safely in their grasp, Sonic and Tails were ready to go exploring new lands together as partners and even as brothers. With the seven Emeralds still in his possession Sonic was excited to see what he could pull off along the way as Super Sonic. Unfortunately for the new duo, the space station had actually crashed into a mysterious continent known as Angel Island, which floated along in the skies. While flying around in the Tornado one day Sonic and Tails just happened to come across the wonder of the world and they innocently decided to explore it. The hedgehog transformed into Super Sonic and flew ahead of the plane piloted by the surprisingly gifted Tails(Who had even done some work on the engine over the previous peaceful period) to check out the island. He was unfortunately surprised by a sudden attack from below, so powerful that he actually dropped the seven Emeralds and was left too dizzy to prevent them from being swiped by a mysterious echidna. Sonic and Tails pursued the thief across the island, only to be met by not only the creature's traps but Robotnik's forces as well. The two had apparently teamed up against the heroic duo. Sonic and Tails fought on, recovering the hidden Chaos Emeralds as they went, all the way to the Launch base Robotnik had been constructing to lift his Death Egg back into the skies. The attack from the speedy team caused the launch to be incomplete, which ended with the Death Egg crashing down once again not long after lifting off, this time covering the mouth of the Island's volcano. Continuing their pursuit, Sonic and Tails ran after their arch enemy yet again, eventually discovering the Hidden Palace where they came face to face with Knuckles the Echidna once more. Sonic was surprised to see a large primitive mural in the palace which seemed to depict Super Sonic and Robotnik both fighting over a large Chaos Emerald. Knuckles seemed to believe that the mural predicted Sonic would come to steal the Master Emerald, which allowed Angel Island to float, and that Robotnik would help protect it from him. After engaging the hedgehog in a short battle with no clear winner Knuckles suddenly realized that Robotnik was stealing the Master Emerald himself and received a nasty electrocution upon attempting to interfere. With the truth revealed Knuckles teamed up with Sonic and Tails, who made their way up into the Death Egg before the power of the master Emerald allowed it to completely escape. Knuckles and Tails were left behind on the falling island as Sonic went after the truly persistent villain. During a massive battle against a gigantic robot mech powered by the Master Emerald itself Sonic proved too fast for even Robotnik's biggest guns to pin down, and the Death Egg's final destruction became imminent. Robotnik, however, wasn't ready to give up everything just yet. Inside a large, heavily armed escape vessel he fled the doomed station with the Master Emerald in tow. Using the Chaos Emeralds once again Sonic transformed into his strongest form in order to chase the Doctor through space itself. The ancient echidna prophecy was truly fulfilled as Super Sonic won back the Master Emerald, leaving Robotnik with an escape pod just damaged enough so that he could survive the trip back to earth. And what of the prophecy? Was Sonic born special because he was some destined hero meant to protect the Master Emerald? Perhaps even the world? Was this the only destiny he had or were there others among different civilizations? Was it even really him in that palace mural? The idea that your entire life was a predestined event guided by forces beyond your control was an incredible thing to take in... but not for Sonic. He did what he did because he wanted to, not because he was destined to. If it all worked out well together in the end then all the better, but he wasn't going to waste his time worrying about it. There were more important things to be thinking about. For example, the fact that he was falling down to Earth from outer space with no means of maintaining his Super form long enough to survive. Super Sonic fell down into the atmosphere and changed back into his normal self in time to be rescued by Tails with the Tornado once again. They returned the Master Emerald to Angel Island, saving it from sinking into the sea and making a friend out of its guardian Knuckles. Sonic had been impressed by their inconclusive fight earlier, thinking he'd found someone else like Tails who was unique like himself. Knuckles would become something of a rival for Sonic, who was able to show Knuckles how to have fun besides watching a big shiny rock all day. Doctor Robotnik would never really quiet down over time and Sonic's fame grew every time he seemed to almost single-handedly put an end to the world-conquest schemes that were being hatched. His gift of speed was just too much for anything that was thrown at him, and he met all kinds of amazing friends during his adventures such as Mighty the Armadillo who seemed to be as strong as Sonic was fast, even outdoing Knuckles. He also met a group of talented furries who stopped one of Robotnik's plans alongside Knuckles before the hedgehog had even arrived on the scene. They went on to form a team to oppose crime of all kinds. While he always showed up when the Doctor caused trouble Sonic also had all kinds of other adventures not shown to the world simply because they were less glamorous. He still loved exploring new lands and meeting other extraordinary individuals whenever he could. It was after another of Robotnik's attempts resulted in a period of quiet from the madman that the hero undertook an exceptionally long journey that took him away from his friends, even Tails, for quite a long time. One day, after returning from such an adventure to the city of Station Square, Sonic ran into a monster who seemed to be made of nothing but water. After defeating the odd creature Sonic was soon swept up in another adventure as the villain Robotnik, whom he'd now christened the Eggman, attempted to resurrect an ancient beast of destruction by feeding it the seven Chaos Emeralds. Many of Sonic's old friends like Rosy, who now went by her real name of Amy Rose, and a few new ones seemed to get involved in the giant battle against impending Armageddon. They also learned about the origins of Knuckles' clan and Angel Island, as well as the Emeralds themselves, from the spirit of an ancient echidna named Tikal who had been locked within the Master Emerald alongside Chaos. Everyone thought it was over when Eggman's Egg Carrier ship was knocked out of the sky and his resulting attack on Station Square was thwarted by Tails. They were wrong. The monster known as Chaos survived its last defeat by Sonic and Knuckles' combined attack and tracked down the Chaos Emerald that resided within the Tornado 2 Tails had built, which had been hijacked by Big the Cat in order to get home. After that it went to Angel Island, which was still grounded thanks to Chaos' presence no longer being within the Master Emerald. Knuckles had gathered the other six Chaos Emeralds there, which allowed Chaos to complete its powers. As Perfect Chaos it flooded Station Square and destroyed the Egg Carrier 2 effortlessly when Robotnik tried to counterattack it. Using the positive energies that remained within the Chaos Emeralds Super Sonic returned to the world and battled the former protector of the Chao until its anger and rage were completely wiped out. After the Master Emerald was restored to the way it should be Sonic disappeared from the scene, either to take a vacation or to start a brand new adventure. It was to start a new adventure. Unfortunately for Sonic that plan was cut short when an elite squadron of GUN soldiers surrounded him. At first he easily outmatched them, but in the end their surprise tactics combined with his refusal to hurt an innocent resulted in his capture for unknown reasons. While being airlifted over Station Square Sonic broke out of the transport helicopter and began a race through the city, evading GUN until nightfall. It was then that he spotted an odd sight. A hedgehog that looked uncannily like himself. Realizing that he must be the cause of his attempted arrest Sonic tried to apprehend the real criminal, but found the one who called himself Shadow too fast for even the fastest thing alive to touch. Sonic realized that this self-proclaimed Ultimate Life Form must be using the energies of the Emerald itself to warp around. Despite that revelation it didn't prevent GUN from arriving at the scene just after Shadow used Chaos Control to disappear and arrest the innocent hedgehog. Sonic was carted off to Prison Island where he cooled his heels in a cell that had writings over all the walls. The insane etchings of the cell's previous occupant Professor Gerald Robotnik would mean nothing to Sonic, who was glad to find Tails and Amy had come to spring him free. Glad as he was, he still turned down Amy's proposal of marrying her in exchange for his freedom. Sonic starting doing what he did best once more. He ran out of the military base and escaped into the jungle that made up most of the island. It was there that he managed to cut off the black hedgehog, who seemed to be on his way to the base Sonic had just escaped from. The hero claimed he would catch his faker this time, only to be told that Shadow considered him to be the fake hedgehog of the two. Sonic's competitive side rose up like never before, telling Shadow he would make him eat those words before engaging him in battle for the first time. Sonic had fought fast opponents before and strong opponents before, but he had honestly never gone up against someone who seemed to be able to actually keep up with him. Both hedgehogs were soon catching their breath, but before a winner could be determined Sonic overheard a transmission to Shadow from Eggman that revealed the island was due to blow in just a few minutes. He and his combatant took off in opposite directions with Sonic, Tails and Amy making it off in the Cyclone just in time for the fireworks. Now a fugitive from the law Tails finally informed Sonic of why he was arrested. It seemed that Shadow had stolen a Chaos Emerald, and unfortunately for Sonic their similarities were too great for GUN to distinguish them apart while they were moving as fast as they did. Not long after Eggman destroyed a chunk of the moon itself with a giant super weapon in space, holding the entire world hostage. Tails tracked down a communication from Eggman to the President and the team, now joined by Knuckles who was looking for the scattered pieces of the Master Emerald, headed into the desert. Amy didn't receive any objections from Sonic about coming along. It was her choice to do as she wanted, just like he believed for himself. Besides, she'd proved that she was far from defenceless. He always wondered if she learned to use that hammer just so she could follow him around without fear, but either way he was happy for her. After infiltrating Eggman's Pyramid Base the group o heroes commandeered a space shuttle and took off for the outer atmosphere. During the trip the cargo bay where the Master Emerald pieces Knuckles had collected were being stored was accidentally opened, causing the fragments to scatter around the ARK's artificial atmosphere. The echidna was forced to recollect them while Sonic, Tails and Amy went after Eggman. Sonic was eventually cornered by Eggman when the Doctor held Amy hostage in exchange for the last remaining Chaos Emerald needed to power the Eclipse Cannon, which was held by Tails. The boy prodigy had earlier created a fake Chaos Emerald using his own Emerald's exact properties, in a plan to use it to cancel out and reverse the effects of the other Emeralds once placed in the planet-destroying weapon known as the Eclipse Cannon. Sonic figured this was his chance to give Eggman the fake Emerald and win the day, but the Doctor was more clever than many gave him credit for and he trapped Sonic in an escape pod set to blow up once it cleared the ARK. Inside the pod the true gravity of the situation was not lost on Sonic. From within the glass he could see the triumphant smirk of his long-time adversary as well as the terrified looks of his best friend and longtime admirer. This really could be the end for him, but if it was then at least he'd led a good life. He'd never once followed anything but his heart and had nothing to regret. He didn't even feel any anger towards Tails, who had inadvertently confirmed Eggman's suspicions that Sonic's Emerald was a fake. Instead he wanted Tails to continue what they started and save the Earth. As for Amy, she may have been something of a bother at times but she did help him out when she could and he knew she did like him a lot. He hoped she wouldn't take too long to move on if this really was the end of him.He only had a little bit of time to say what could be his final words, so he tried to make them count by encouraging Tails with his confidence in the younger fox and asking Amy to take care of herself as well. With those would-be last words Sonic's pod was ejected and fired into outer space, where it eventually blew up for all to see, including a certain black hedgehog. Inside the pod before it blew up, however, Sonic wasn't ready to give up on ever running again just yet. Even though he'd said what he wanted to just in case, if he did actually give up even for a moment before it was all over then he just wouldn't have lived the way he wanted to right until the end. Sonic's brain scoured the seemingly hopeless situation for any possibilities of hope, and eventually rested upon the only other thing he had with him, the fake Chaos Emerald. His mind drifted back to his first encounter with Shadow, who had used an Emerald to seemingly warp himself out of danger with ease. He also thought back to what Tails had said about his creation. It had the same wavelength and properties as a real Emerald. Not sure if he could really pull off such a feat with no real idea of just how it was done, Sonic decided to throw caution to the wind like he always did and bet everything on the one small chance of success. While everyone else was watching his prison explode, Sonic was looking at the interior of the ARK having somehow used Chaos Control without even knowing how. He had just remembered what Tikal had said: That the Emeralds can react to our positive feelings as well as our negative ones. With that in mind he had put all of his heart into the wish to live and somehow pulled it off. Realizing from the nearby Knuckles that time was short Sonic realized he had one chance left, and that was to race to the Eclipse Cannon before it fired and slam dunk the fake Chaos Emerald into it himself. Somehow Sonic managed to beat the odds once again and get across the incredibly complex ARK defences to reach the last stretch before his goal. Shadow the Hedgehog had been warned of an intruder nearing the weapon and had come to investigate, meeting Sonic just before the final run. An amazed Shadow finally asked just what Sonic was as they started jogging alongside each other down the track. For Sonic the answer was obvious. He was just himself, and that's all he'd ever tried to be or expected of others. Once that was said all bets were off, as the two incredibly fast hedgehogs raced down a bridge that was quickly collapsing behind them while battling each other with all of their might. Sonic felt a thrill unlike anything he'd felt before, realizing that this was the kind of battle he was born for. In the end not even Gerald's finest creation would be enough to stop this hedgehog from reaching the Eclipse Cannon and setting the fake Emerald in place, though neither was Sonic able to subdue Shadow before reaching the finish line and the black hedgehog vanished with a burst of his own Chaos Control. The resulting reaction caused a power surge which disabled the cannon, saving the Earth. Amy and Tails looked over to the malfunctioning cannon to see their dearly departed friend alive and well. Although everyone on the hero side of the struggle was ready to pat each other on the back the deceased Gerald Robotnik had other plans. He had set up a failsafe to activate if the Eclipse Cannon were disabled. To everyone's horror the ARK itself began to fall out of the atmosphere on a crash course for the planet. According to an old digital journal uncovered by government agent Rouge the Bat, Gerald had been forced to create another Shadow after the incident aboard the ARK, but had been driven insane by his granddaughter Maria's death and had designed a plan for revenge against the entire world instead, Shadow's altered memories being a part of it. With literally everything on the line the people aboard the ARK, including Eggman himself, began one massive team effort to shut down the Chaos Emeralds that were powering the ARK's descent using the Master Emerald's ability to control them. Eventually Sonic and Knuckles arrived deep within the Eclipse Cannon's core where a duplicate of the Angel Island shrine had been built and was holding the seven Chaos Emeralds. Gerald must have at some point studied the echidna civilization in order to build such a thing. Did this also mean that he had also at some point seen the echidna prophecy of a hero who would save the Island's Master Emerald from evil? Had that image of Super Sonic been on his mind while designing Shadow's biological structure, explaining why the true hero Sonic ended up with a remarkable resemblance to Gerald's finished product? Perhaps, but that wasn't really on anyone's mind at the time. As the blue and red duo made their way to the shrine they were suddenly blocked by a gigantic lizard. Gerald's prototype of the ultimate Life Form had been sealed away here inside the cannon's core and was programmed to see that Gerald's vengeance would succeed. However, what neither Gerald nor Sonic or Knuckles had counted on was the Robotnik's finished product arriving at the scene. Apparently having had a change of heart at some point Shadow distracted the Biolizard in combat while Sonic and Knuckles cut off the ARK's power supply. With one last failsafe activated Biolizard's programming took over as it used Chaos Control to teleport outside the core and fuse itself to the Space Colony, intent on dragging it down into Earth through force. Sonic turned to his similarly-gifted rival and wordlessly communicated one last chance if they both wanted to save the planet. Sonic figured if they could both use Chaos Control then they could probably both use another trick as well. Sonic absorbed the positive energies of the seven gathered Emeralds while Shadow absorbed the negative, transforming them both into Super Sonic and Super Shadow respectively. The two hedgehogs did battle against the Finalhazard in outer space, fighting through its powerful defences while racing against the clock in a tag team effort to destroy the beast. Was Sonic the real, natural-born ultimate life-form? Was it Shadow who was truly the unstoppable one? As the two put their differences aside to work together for the sake of the Earth and all it's people, the issue no longer seemed to matter. In Sonic's eyes Shadow was now really being himself and no longer bore the title of “faker”. After the Finalhazard was dead the pair of hedgehog heroes used a combined Chaos Control to return the space colony to its proper orbit. Unfortunately, Sonic was forced to watch helplessly as Shadow's energy ran low and the hedgehog fell back towards Earth lifelessly while the last of Super Shadow's power depleted. Sonic could only guess that, in order to make sure the ARK would be transported away successfully, Shadow had used up more of his remaining power he Sonic had. Back on board the ARK Sonic could at first only shake his head when asked of his battle partner's fate. He gave Rouge the one thing he was able to save, one of Shadow's bracelets. The ones gathered took time to reflect on the end of the adventure, with even Eggman himself granted an at least temporary time of reprieve. When Sonic was asked what he thought Shadow really was, the answer was as obvious to him as when Shadow had asked it about Sonic himself. Shadow was, in the end, just himself.... finally. The team eventually left the ARK to return to Earth, bidding their farewells to Shadow. Little did they know that somewhere, somehow, the black hedgehog was still alive and would one day return. For two years since the incident aboard the ARK Doctor Robotnik had laid relatively low for a huge change, giving Sonic and his friends time to enjoy life the old-fashioned way and seek thrills not related to putting the entire planet at risk. Sonic himself has run across every surface of planet Earth that bears a name, as well as a few undiscovered islands and ruins during his explorations. He still meets interesting people, but not like when he was fighting against Robotnik. He would visit Knuckles every now and then with a challenge to make sure his rival didn't rot away watching that Emerald from dawn 'til dusk. As for Tails, the fox started getting a little more independent from Sonic as time went by. Sonic was glad to see him growing up, but of course they'd always be the best of friends. A bond like their's wasn't so easily broken. Sonic also noticed that Amy had eventually stopped following him around altogether. To be honest, Sonic was perfectly happy with that, no longer having to leave a place before he was ready to escape her latest marriage demands. Sonic never did forget about Amy though, always keeping her amongst his closest friends in his mind and planned to see how she was doing some day. After all, she was one of the extraordinary individuals that Sonic had hoped to meet when he'd first left home once upon a time. As for the Eggman situation, deep down Sonic knew that his old nemesis was likely to pop up again some day with a more dangerous plan than ever before, but deep down he hoped that their cooperative efforts during that last adventure had somehow opened the idea of not being evil to his cold, mechanical heart. Being able to someday call Eggman a rival instead of an enemy was one of his hopes, as unlikely as it was. Sonic didn't like having enemies but he loved having good rivals, and for the past two years he's been itching for the next big challenge to come along. Theme Song: Run Around Alignment: Hero Skills & Weapons Section Skills Running You think running isn't a special skill? You're wrong. Moving at incredible speeds with his two feet since he was young, Sonic has practiced his running to the point of perfection. Running forwards, backwards, strafing, making quick cuts without losing speed(Within a certain speed limit), losing as little speed as possible over rough terrain, and most importantly knowing how to keep up the act for as long as possible without wearing out. Sonic can do it all. A testament to both his speed and his running skill, Sonic has developed a technique of moving so that ghostly images of himself are left behind him as he moves. These ghosts can often fool robotic sensors with false images, as well as confuse the naked eye with even greater ease. By strafing from side to side very quickly Sonic can create an illusion of multiple ghosts running forward while hiding within them. Of course, it is unwise to use this technique against the same target on too many occasions since the main effect, confusion, would be completely lost through overuse. Spindash / Super Peel-Out Two methods for Sonic to quickly build up a lot of acceleration nigh-instantaneously while remaining in one spot. Once his speed has reached satisfactory levels he "releases the break" and zooms forward without having to pick up speed, though he can't go at maximum speed right away from these. The Spindash protects him while building up speed by maintaining a Super Sonic Spin during execution, but it also leaves Sonic in an unguided roll once released that quickly loses all the speed he built up. Alternatively, the Super Peel-Out allows Sonic to build up speed that he can then control normally, but leaves him vulnerable during the initial phase and unable to change what direction he's facing. Sonic has practiced these methods so much that he can quickly accelerate on the spot, charging the technique for more than a bare moment only when very high speed is required such as Spindashing into an enemy for a powerful Super Sonic Spin attack. Spring Jump Utilizing his extremely athletic body Sonic is capable of performing jumps unlike anything a normal creature could do, especially one that isn't a natural jumper like a rabbit would be. As if he just ran into some sort of powerful spring board the hedgehog can launch himself high or far into the air, even bounding repeatedly off of surfaces in his way while maintaining his usual high level of speed. The Spring Jump is more powerful and faster with a running start, but even a leap from standing still can still reach up a couple of stories high. Of course, Sonic can make himself a more obvious target if he tres to just jump between two far-off places so he generally uses much more finesse to get where he's going in danger zones. It should also be noted that his skill has taught Sonic how to handle landings without injuring himself, even after reaching maximum falling velocity from extreme heights. You can bet the learning period for that one was a painful one. Unfortunately, the force of using Spring Jump limits Sonic from being able to protect himself and/or attack with the Super Sonic Spin in any of it's levels while using it. At most he can use his feet to kick anything in his way. Weapons Sonic doesn't really believe in using weapons, preferring to use his own body to get the job done whatever it may be. Combat Section Moves Super Boost: Sonic is the fastest thing alive and his speed is also his most potent weapon. With the full power of the Super Boost technique Sonic turns his running into an attack using instant-acceleration. With this ability Sonic can go from zero to full speed, well not really the full Mach 3 he's now capable of but still way faster than you'd expect anyone to be able to run, in less than a second. This causes the air directly ahead and around him to turn into a blue-tinted slipstream as he runs, though Sonic almost always seems to paint the air blue as he moves through it at his favorite pace anyways. This blue wind acts like a barrier and battering ram for Sonic during the use of Super Boost, for however long he should choose to maintain it. Attacks made on him, even lasers, bullets or explosions, would bounce or slide off of the slipstream harmlessly, though the open trail directly behind Sonic is left unprotected by anything but the speed at which he's moving away from it. As for enemies, Sonic's ramming power is magnified so many times by Super Boost that he can literally run straight through large piles of solid rock, blasting them out of his way with a loud crash. Any enemies he should run into while using this powerful running attack would fare no better. Despite Super Boost's incredible power and instant use however, performing the move costs Sonic a lot more stamina than normal running and acceleration. Constant use, either in one long run or in many smaller bursts, drains him quickly and he needs time to recover before performing it again. Utilizing small bursts as needed is the best way for him to maintain it's availability, but an all-out run can still be used a few times for tight situations without him collapsing. Sonic can also use a half-way Super Boost to gain some momentary acceleration to high-speed(About enough to leave after-images of himself without actually blurring his form) before it wears off, but without the protection or ramming power of the slipstream. These drain less stamina and he often uses them to speed up here and there while running through danger zones, as if he were running over a speed-boosting pad or something. Sonic can accelerate to full speed on his own given time and space to run uninterrupted of course, but the slipstream only appears when using Super Boost and when all is said and done the ability to blow up a car by running through it is pretty darn cool. Super Sonic Spin: Sonic's most famous and most developed method of attack, he's gotten so good at this natural hedgehog instinct over the years that he has several levels of use with it, each the same attack with an increased level of skill and power required to use it. Spin Attack: The most basic form of the Triple S Spin, Sonic curls up into a ball and rolls either over the ground or through the air, protected by his quills and slamming into his target with surprising force and power. The hedgehog can smash metallic robots quite effectively with this move and has been doing so for a long time. Homing Attack: An advanced execution of the Triple S Attack. Aiming his free-floating form at a target Sonic will burst forward from mid-air and zoom in at high speed while spinning. If he makes contact with the target he can then repeat the process after bouncing off of it, aiming for the same target or even a new one. Sonic can use this technique repeatedly but its range is limited and cannot affect long-distance targets. If Sonic has no targets to attack the principle of this ability can be used to simply send him flying in his desired direction as a sort of “Jump Dash” technique. Light Attack: The most powerful form of the Triple S Spin, named for the blinding speed at which it is performed. When the attack is released Sonic's speed is boosted to near it's limits as he performs consecutive high-power Homing Attacks against all hostile targets in the immediate area, covering a radius of several meters. Sonic will continue attacking until the energy of the attack depletes, even if it means attacking a single target over and over again during the few seconds the flurry of mighty blows lasts. To attack with such mind-boggling speed, force and numbers isn't easy though and in order to use this full-power form of the Super Sonic Spin the quickster must use an entire turn beforehand to charge up speed with his Spindash, not releasing it until his very next turn afterwards. Sonic Wind: Sonic's speed and skill are so great that this ability of his is often mistaken for magic. Utilizing his movements perfectly Sonic can blur the air blue as he moves through it and manipulate it to create winds at his leisure. Sonic can do this by rolling or spinning like a top in mid-air, creating a shield-like wreath of wind around him to throw himself around with. This blue-tinted air almost always seems to come in conjunction with his Super Sonic Spin, making him appear like a glowing blue ball in the air, and is likely a boost to his natural attacking power, his defensive power while using the Homing/Light Attack and part of the reason he can perform such moves in the first place. A way he will use this often as an actual unique application is to jump into the air and accelerate in circles using his Super Sonic Spin. The wider the circle and faster he goes the more powerful of a windstorm the hedgehog can create, eventually just letting it carry him in a loop while going up or down depending on the height of the twister generated. Doing this does cause Sonic to be caught in the wind until the move ends so anyone targeting him with projectiles would know he can't run away during this time. Luckily he's not a stationary target either, but the blue blur is easier to hit that way. They won't be able to target him if they get pulled into a tall twister of wind themselves however, and Sonic's spinning form is there to batter any enemies that get caught inside his area of attack. Technically the reverse of this is also possible, whereby Sonic will run in a circle to create a vacuum that sucks the air out from his enclosed area, but that's usually useful only for putting out fires since it makes his movements so predictable, a common threat to using this technique in the other form as well. Strengths Sonic's speed makes him difficult to touch, let alone attack, and he has an amazing physical ability to maintain it. Stays calm and collected even in extremely dangerous situations or environments. His senses of timing and balance are impeccable, trained through years of deadly adventures. Can tap the powers of the Chaos Emeralds. This allows Sonic to use an Emerald to teleport himself or freeze/slow down time, an ability called Chaos Control. The limits of Chaos Control are determined by the number of Emeralds Sonic has access to, but at least one is needed for him to use their powers at all. The only exception is the Lightspeed Dash, which still requires Power Rings being set up in a linear path for Sonic to move at light speed through them. While moving at this speed the rings surround Sonic with a protective aura to prevent injury from moving at that rate. The aura also has the side effect of protecting Sonic from any environment or hazards he might travel through while moving along the trail. The Dash ends the moment there is no ring placed immediately after the last one Sonic traveled through. Sonic can also transform into a nigh-invincible form known as Super Sonic if all seven Chaos Emeralds are collected, but Power Rings are needed to maintain that form. Weaknesses Cannot use his speed to its full potential if forced to fight in a confining area or over especially rough terrain. Will rarely turn down a direct challenge, even at bad times. Not to the point of putting innocents at huge risk though, and not over something that doesn't interest him in the first place. Unable to swim. Sonic sinks like a rock in water. Tends to avoid using chaos powers, especially Super Sonic, and relying only on his physical skills unless it is absolutely required by the situation. An exception would be the Lightspeed Dash, but only because rings are rarely set up perfectly for it anyway. |
