Character Rules
Character Rules
01 – Accounts A lot of players will have a lot more than a single character or will want to play as more than a single character. As such, here at Aftermath, you have the option of playing up to four. You don’t have to use them all and you can simply play one if that is your wish. The only condition is that, in order to keep a level of balance between good and evil, you must have at least one good and one bad character if you take three or more characters. Players taking more than one character should state at the top of their submitted profile who else they play so the ‘Who plays whom?’ list can be updated accordingly. 02 – Character Actions Whilst acting normally, your character is not bound by any real time frame. They can do as they like so long as its fitting in with the rest of the people in topic. During battles though, the time span of each post is dramatically sped up as people react to others in a few moments. As such, you can’t go on doing endless amounts of actions per post during battles. For the sake of simplicity, we normally say two actions per post. An action would be an attack, a defense move, moving dramatically, etc. Thinking doesn’t cost an action, but excessive talking does! Bear that in mind before going off on long speeches mid-battle. 03 – Death Here at Aftermath, we like to offer a little safety net to our players. Some RPGs out there have rules that you can be killed, period! Here, we say you can be killed… but only if the player agrees to it. So, while a wound might be hideously paralyzing, it won’t kill you unless you want it to. There is an exception to this rule and that is the staff. They can, under certain situations, invoke character death if they feel a person is either pushing things too far or godding to a large degree. A warning will normally be sent first stating the situation, but if they continue to act as they are, Admin. death will be invoked. 04 – Character Additions Along the way, you may think of new ideas or concepts you wish to put into an existing character. This is completely allowed but depending on the addition, you should take different actions. Changes to appearance are allowed without any form of approval, however, you should flag it up in your profile so that people know. Any other addition will require a staff member to approve your additions. You need only post the parts of your profile that you are changing in the approvals forum. Also, please indicate what is new or what you are adding. The staff will then cast a verdict on if they like the changes or if something will have to be reworked. Once approved, you are free to update your profile and carry on playing. 05 – Acceptable and Unacceptable Character Aspects In order to open the playing field for members to experiment and enjoy themselves, the current storyline has been designed to allow almost all possibilities to be possible. Characters from the past, future, different plants, and dimensions are all welcome providing they are not overpowered when compared to the other players. Please note that, whilst we allow almost all possibilities, this is not an excuse to put together a profile in a matter of minutes. We'd appreciate a little explanation and detail that follows the character submission template. If you can explain it to us, we'll usually be more than willing to accept it. Also, please note only one existence of any character will be allowed. This allows someone to play, for example, the SatAM version of Sonic and the SegaSonic version of Tails, but two different versions of Sonic couldn't exist at the same time.
