Livy City - 2hr earlier - Minty fresh
Tails was lying down on the street and watching the stars. He had a dream about Sonic.

***

Tails walked slowly, apparently thinking about how he ever came into Sonic's life or what it was like to be teased. He didn't really consider the landscape.

He wondered what to think of all this, he really did. While he was walking, two Sonics ran his way and he was confused as to which one to follow. Since he had absolutely no idea who was the real Sonic, he just sat there and sighed.

His mind then drifted over to the delivery man who hadn't left in the train when he was told to leave, but what really got to Tails the most was that there had to be some reason why another Sonic could've just appeared so abruptly. The Sonic that burst in seemed like he was the real Sonic.

It even drifted over the spot where Tails had apparently refused the offer to check on the fan mail sent by the delivery man. If only he would've taken the offer to see the box while his big brother opened it and then perhaps this adventure he was on and the fact that he saw two Sonics would've been different. Maybe none it would've happened. Perhaps Sonic would still be with him.

But in what context would he be with him? Would he discover the other Sonic if he would've just watched Sonic open his gift? Those were the questions, but Tails didn't have any answers. He would have to ask the real Sonic, so he'd be cured of this atrocity.

Tails chose the Sonic he thought was real and was ready to run with him, but wasn't sure where any of them were.

He then saw Amy Rose walking toward him and hugged him. Tails cried.

He asked. "Do you know who the real Sonic is? Do you know why my workshop had to be blown up?"

Amy put a finger to his lips. "I bet you can't find me." She hid somewhere.

Tails sighed. "Why doesn't anyone listen to me?"

Tails continued his dream...

***

The fox-boy found Amy and was excited, but was also confused. He wasn't staring at Amy, he was staring at Sonic instead.

Tails wasn't excited anymore, he felt exhausted and a little confused. Despite the fox-boy felt those things, he still had to tell Sonic his feelings. "Sonic, I'm sorry I couldn't join in openeing the gift the delivery man gave you. I so wanted to and if I would've done it then none of this stuff that has happened so far wouldn't have happened. I could've been your true blue brother, but now I don't know which one of you is real.

"It's like deciding between whether to have a chewy mint and a hard candy mint. Or maybe even minty gum, so I can think about this thoroughly. Oh, how I love mints.

"If I knew which one of you was real, I would have opened that gift with you. I miss you Sonic."

Sonic replied almost like he didn't even hear Tails. "Yeah, that's cool."

Tails shook his head. "This is important Sonic, listen to me." The fox-boy repeated himself.

Sonic looked at Tails very sternly. "Things happen for a reason. You'll make it through this."

Tails looked down at the ground. "I don't know if I can."

Sonic's body disappeared slowly, like dust. "I believe in you."

Tails looked up and stared in sadness. He was trying to grab Sonic, but it was like reaching through a holigram. "Don't go! I need you!"

Sonic disappeared, but his voice was still nearby, waving in the wind. "I will always be with you. Remember, I believe in you. You can do it Tails. Show them what they're made of... goodbye."

Tails knew Sonic was gone now, but he replied anyway. "Thanks Sonic. Thanks for believing in me."

Dream sequence over.

Tails viewed the groceries and was unsure of what to make of all this. He went down on his hands and knees and mapped out the schematics of where the arrow hit the groceries in his head. It looked like the arrows came from a roof. And from the looks of things, it appeared that he was on the right trail...

Tails felt the urge to run, where he didn't know. All he knew was that he had to keep on track and find Amy.

"Here I come Amy."
