Ah, the Tornado 1. It wasn't the fastest or the most powerful air vehicle in the world. In fact, it was just an old-fashioned bi-plane with a slick red paint job. Still, this bird had been Sonic's own before he'd even met Tails and the little guy had become the official mechanic/pilot of the duo. At least the Blue Blur knew he could definitely handle this plane. No way was he going to try flying the X Tornado by himself. You press the wrong button in that thing and you could accidentally transform it into some flightless mode Tails had installed on a whim and sink to the bottom of the ocean... unless it had a submersible mode too. Definitely a possibility where Tails was concerned.

But, to the point, the Tornado 1 Sonic knew how to fly as well as he knew how to run. He actually would prefer to be running, but while traveling over the aforementioned ocean on foot wasn't impossible for him it also wasn't a good idea when he was still less than 100% because of that thrashing he took from Shadow.

After all, this mission he was on was important! He had to make sure to come back from it in time for Tails' sake!
