Anniversary Celebrations!

Well the time is almost upon us! As of the 25th of July this year Sonic Aftermath will be seven years old! Yes that's right, seven years old!

In order to celebrate this grand achievement the staff have decided to arrange a number of activities for everyone to have fun with.

PSO Gaming Session
Between the hours of 2pm and midnight EST on the 25th July the staff will be hosting a large Phantasy Star Online gaming session. Anyone is welcome to join regardless of your level or experience and it will involve simply having some fun randomly killing whatever monsters cross our paths.

We know that not all of you have the game but luckily it is free to download and play thanks to a free sever Viper found several months ago. You can download the game from here: http://www.schtserv.com/ . If you need help feel free to contact the staff and we'll help you get it setup and working.

Aftermath Chat
At the same time as the PSO session we will also be holding a large group chat using Teamspeak. This will be used by those playing PSO to chat as they play but anyone who is not playing is free to join and chat to us if they don't want to play. If you don't have Teamspeak it is free to download (google it ^^) and login details for the server we use will be posted closer to the time.

In addition we will also be running a regular chat party on msn for those without a mic.

It should be mentioned that those joining either of the chats will be privy to a new development that the staff have been working on. This will be revealed to everyone in due course but those in the chat will get a sneak peek to wet their appetites!

Sonic Raffle
Possibly the most cuddly event going on over the weekend will be the announcement of the Sonic raffle winner. All members of the board who have an approved profile are welcome to enter the raffle but only one entry per person is allowed (no multiple account entering). Entries should be submitted to myself (Links Tyrell) by Friday at midnight EST, entries received after this won't be counted. The winner will be revealed on Saturday.

The prize will be this rather handsome Sonic plushie! I wish everyone who enters the best of luck. The lucky winner will have the plushie posted to them by the staff, please note this will require you to send us your home address.

Aftermath Podcast
Time permitting we may also have a podcast interview/chat with the staff that will be presented by our good friend Rose. The topics have not yet been decided but you can bet on some good random nonsense. Watch this space for more news.


All in all we wanted to make this years anniversary special. A lot of message boards, especially RP related ones, do not survive for more than a few years without crashing. The success of Aftermath is partly due to the staff, partly the way we operate...but mostly it is because of all of you! Without everyone who has joined the board over the last seven years (even those who are no longer amongst us) this place would not exist.

This years celebrations are as much about thanking you guys as it is celebrating a birthday. We thanks you all and hope that you'll be with us for some time to come to help push Aftermath into the next decade with style! Thank you all and enjoy the festivities!

After careful consideration the staff have decided to move the festivities to Sunday the 26th. That gives everyone an extra day to enter the raffle, remember its a totally free Sonic plushie you're vying for here!

It was a mass email which was sent to all registered accounts within the member category, so yes if you have multiple accounts using the same email address you will likely have got a few copies of the mail. Sorry to flood your inbox in those cases, it was not intentional...just the limit of the system.

However, as I've only had one entry for the prize raffle so far I thought it best to make sure everyone knew about the event. Remember the raffle entries close when I wake up on Sunday morning (that's about 3am EST on Sunday so that you know).

Okay, since many of the people that I have spoken to sounded confused about how to enter the raffle, here is the quick lowdown on it. It's very, very simple, guys.

PM Links Tyrell. Or even just message one of the staff on MSN/AIM. Whatever is most convenient to you. And just tell us "I want to enter the raffle". That's all there is to it! XD;

I will note, however, that you should be certain that you are okay giving out your address should you win. I have just confirmed with Viper that he will be the only one who will be on the recipient end of this (since he was the one who ordered the plushie. Go, paypal donation button! ;D). So, basically, as long as that's okay with you, feel free to enter~ We just don't want people getting in trouble or feeling insecure.

Ok, just some additional info for you all.

Anyone wanting into the msn group chat should message one of the staff on msn and we will add you to the chat. If you don't know any of the staff then just send me a message at tailskitsune@hotmail.com and I'll add you myself.

For the voice and pso sessions, we'll likely be meeting on msn first, working out what we are doing and then setting things up. We'll give you the voice chat details at that point if you want to join in, make sure you've installed Teamspeak before we get started though, it'll speed things up.

The raffle is still running, anyone else who wants in should get their entires to me today, I'll be making the draw tomorrow morning when I wake up.
