Sgt. Mathias "Slick" Greyer
Name: First Sergeant, Mathias Greyer

Callsign: "Slick"

His name is mostly derrived from the way his fur always appears so soft and silky from the oils his body naturally produces to waterproof his fur. By in fact the biggest reason is one only a select few know about, and one he is very reluctant to speak about to others.

Picture:

Combat:

Advanced Rifleman

Intermediate Unarmed Combat

Intermediate Demolitions

Skills:
Demolitions: Thanks to his demolitions training, Slick can lay explosive traps, breach locked doors and other such obstacles and make Improvised Explosive Devices (IED's); as well as disable enemy mines and booby traps. On the flip side, he needs some sort of explosive to start with, he can't make a bomb from nothing. Most often however he will usually use the explosives to breach doors and destroy objectives, that sort of thing. When part of a team that traditionally is on the offensive, and ideally hits so hard and fast that the enemy can't react in time to properly counter, he rarely finds chances to place explosive traps.

Moves:

Grave Throw: This is an extremely dangerous Melee combo attack that, if completed is more then likely to finish off any opponet. When an opponent throws a punch or kick Slick deflects the punch to the outside of the body or lets the kick hit him full on and takes a frim grip on the arm, following through with a hard elbow strike to the chest.

The Elbow itself packs a wallop and if successful, can lead to a hard leg sweep from behind the opponents legs. Once the opponent falls on their back, Slick follows up by slamming his combat boot into the opponents chest, or if he wants to be asure the opponents death, the throat. IF he can manage to get this far into the combo without the opponent managing to counter or block, the boot to the chest will more then likely crack a few dozen ribs or in the case of the throat strike, crush his breathing tube.

In the leg senerio he will simply bypass the elbow and throw the opponent directly to the ground, but in order to land a suffiently hard boot to the chest, it will take him a moment to set himself up for the final blow of the combo.

Defect: This move is a combo, so if blocked or the combo is stopped at any point it would have to be restarted. And given his rigid military fighting style, the combo is set for maximum power while sacfricing speed. Meaning a skilled opponent should be able to dodge or escape from this combo before he can complete it.

Weapons:

M8 Assault Rifle Carbine:
Weapon:

The units primary weapon of choice is the M8 assault rifle. The rifle fires 30 5.56mm armour piercing rounds per clip and incorparates high-tech weapons sights and has proven to be an extremely reliable weapon for the team.

Smoke Grenades x3:

These beauties create a massive plume of black smoke that will completely obscure even the best sight provided they stay behind the smoke cloud. And of course when using these grenades outdoors it is important to know which way the wind is blowing.

Flashbangs x3:

The team also carries flashbangs, capable of stunning anyone within a 15 foot radius with a combination of deafening noise and blinding light. These are used in situations where there are non-hostiles present or when the team needs to capture enemies alive for interogation.

Fragmention Grenades x3:

When discretion, secerecy and shock tactics fail, the best way to eliminate an enemy strong point is with one of these high explosive babies. Upon detonation the grenade sends high-velocity shrapnel out in all directions within a 20 foot diameter of the blast. These are lethal, indiscriminant weapons whose sole purpose is to desimate whatever is unfortunate enough to be next to it when it goes off. The fuse begins after the blast pin has been removed and goes off about 5 seconds after that. Typically, the thrower will count two seconds off before throwing to give the enemy less time to throw the grenade back before it goes off.

Age: 32

Hieght: 3'-8"

Species: Otter

Fur: Thick brown fur all across his body. This is where his callsign originated from. As a water mammal the outer fur is oily to allow his fur to shed water and keep his inner fur bone dry.

Eyes: Green

Hair: Dirty blonde

Clothes: When not off-duty, he is usually wearing his units standard combat uniform. That consists of a heavy, dark grey flak jacket, black, high tension equipment harness, grey-tone camo shirt and pants, knee pads, and combat boots.

The special uniform the team wears incorporates technology developed by Canada that eliminates the body heat of the body, reducing the soldiers thermal image. Also, because it is grey, the uniform is surprisingly versitile in almost any terrain. In the snow and desert it is obvioously ineffective. But it is by far ideal in urban enviroments and is also had to pick out in forests as well.
As Slick likes to say: "Special Ops get the best toys!"

In combat he also wears a pair clear plastic googles to keep tiny bits of debris out of his eyes as well as a microphone hooked around his left ear. When off duty, he'll usually wear of pair of jeans and whatever shirt happens to be clean that day.

Personality:

Being in GUN for nearly 12 years, Mathias has picked up that tough-as-nails, can-do attitude that all military folks seem to pick up. Through years of hard training and seeing several theatres of action, he's become battle hardened, tough, adabtable, and persistent.

As team leader for his unit he will go to all lengths possible to protect the lives of his men. But, as a trained soldier he knows his place in the chain of command and follows orders. He just knows that he can get away with a bit more back talk with people who are closer to his own rank, but knows where to draw the line, especially with the higher ranks.

That little habit makes him typically unpopular with officers, but is greatly praised by his men. Because of his attitude, his men know they can count on him and know he would never put them in a situation that's over their heads. They'll follow him anywhere, and to Mathias, that's more important then some desk-bound general's opinion.

He's very meticulous and very thorough when it comes to gaining inteligence before every mission. He's of the opinion that without proper inteligence a mission can't be done. He has even scrubbed a mission once due to lack of accurate intel. And that's often put him at odds with his commanders.

That said he does have a softer side, but he only ever shows this side of his personality to those that have earned his respect and trust in his eyes. And generally that circle of individuals conisist only of the memebers of his team.

And while he may act all buisness, he still has a mishcevious sense of humour that otters are so well known for. For instance, one time while on a training excerise he caught one of his men taking a nap while on guard duty. Instead of giving him a razing like most CO's would, he set off a flashbang next to him; and for full embarassment he rounded up the whole squad to watch, snickers and hollers of laughter ensuing.

People have often said after meeting Mathias, or "Slick" as he prefers to be called, for the first time they typically feel like he was looking down on them the entire time, and while that is true to an extent, it's not because he thinks he's better then everyone else, its just his way of judging the other persons character. Its harsh perhaps, but while he may sound like he's condesending, he's actually giving you the benifit of the doubt and is hoping for you to lash back at him and show him what you're really made of.

History:

Mathias had a pretty mundane childhood, raised in a loving home and brought up in Capitol City. As a child he was often one of the little kids who got picked on by bigger bullies. After getting feed up with it, his parents enrolled him in martial arts classes. Mathias grew to enjoy the classes and proved to be a fine student. Eventually he was able to win his first school yard fight. After that the bullies didn't seem to interested in bothering him anymore.

But one day as he was playing on the school yard he noticed a fellow classmate was about to get pummeled by the same bullies he'd dealt with for so long. It seemed that they'd decided since Mathias could fight back now, they'd pick on someone else.

Mathias was practially seething at sight of them going after someone else who couldn't fight back, and without hesitation rushed over to help his classmate. He managed to send the bullies off crying. But that wouldn't be the last time he'd step in to help someone. As time went on, Mathias gained kind of reputation as some kind of guardian.

As he grew up he began to think about joining the police force. He had become very fond of the feeling he gained from helping others defend themselves. But as he reached high school, he began studying the military, which caused him to start rethinking his career plans.

Joining on his 18th birthday, he began his new career in the army. He initially did a lot of grunt work, but he enjoyed it none the less. As time went by he was starting to get tired of the simple grunt work he'd been doing the past few years. Not long after reaching corpral, opportunity knocked, the special forces were looking for recruits. So he signed up. The training he went through was much more intense then boot camp, and he found he loved it.

During his time as a simple grunt, Mathias had been involved in several operations where either the intelligence was botched or incomplete. Because of that, it lead to several of his friends being killed or wounded in action. And as he slowly rose in rank the importance of good intelligence never left him.

Not long after joining special forces, he was assigned to a relatively inconsiquential unit called Sierra 118. The units commander, a Lieutenant Fieldman, shared in Mathias' opinion on a number of issues, but especially regarding intel.

Unlike Mathias, Fieldman had a good relationship with several high ranking officers, and as a result, the unit was able to recieve excellent intel on most of their operations.

And so for the first time Mathias fell right into place with his CO and unit, and eventually rose to second in command as sergeant. With accurate intel filtering through Fieldman's excellent sources, this no-name unit quickly began to outshine all the rest. It gained an out standing reputation and had the lowest casualty rate in the service.

Unfortuantely, an overconfident colonel who, believing that based on the units success rate alone could accomplish the mission on minimal intel; thereby saving him extra hassle, orders Sierra 118 in on a dangerous mission. And against all protests from the Mathias and Fiedman, are forced to follow orders and carry out the mission.

As a result the team is ambushed by a large enemy force that, according to the shoty intel said would not be there and not nearly as well organized and equiped. As a result of the ambush five of the eight man squad from Sierra 118 were killed, including Lieutenant Fieldman.

When the Mathias limped back to extraction Mathias found himself as leader of a shattered unit. When command began talks about what would happen to the remenants of the unit, Mathias stuck his neck out big time, inisiting that he could resurrect the squad if given the resources. At great personal risk to his own career, Mathias inisited that the unit not be disbanded and reorganized. After much debate, he was allowed to remain incharge of the unit and restaff it as he saw fit.

He quickly sought out some new personnel to replace the men lost. His first priority was finding someone that he would have set up solely for intelligence gathering and communications relay. He found that in spades with a firey young PV2 named Rico Santiago. He managed to scoope him up shortly after he completed basic and had begun working with the computer systems on base as a technician.

In order to rationalise Slick's request that the he not bother staffing anymore members for Sierra 118, Slick suggested the higher brass organize a demonstration. Some of the commanders , some of which never liked the idea of furries in GUN to begin with, decided this would be an excellent time to discredit the obnoxious otter and his team of furries.

Much to the disbelief of the commanders, Sierra 118 pulled off a very impressive victory, against stacked odds even. After the initial test Slick proudly revealed to his team that he'd been bluffing about his lack of confidence in his team prior to the test. And as a result, their determintation to prove to him they weren't just a bunch of "tender feet" as he called them at one point, brought out thier best.

With the critics from higher up silenced for the time being, one of the first things "Slick" instated as team policy when he took command of Sierra 118 was that during during missions no one was to refer to him as "Sir" or "Sarge" and the same went for any of the low ranks when speaking to anyone else in the team that is of senior rank. Instead they are to only call each other by their callsigns. The reason for this policy is to prevent enemy snipers from decerning the commanding officers from the grunts. Otherwise the enemy would pick off or focus fire on the commanders and leave the remaining team without a any leadership.

He'd even gone so far as to strap branches over his arms to cover the bright yellow sergeant stripes on his arm when the unit still used standard issue uniforms. But now with their newer low-visibility uniforms, Slick has not found the need for that anymore.

When an urgent message arrived calling for a small strike force to infiltrate an enemy strong hold, Sierra 118 was the first team to sign up for it. Despite the demonstration some of the brass still insisted to not allow the team in on the operation. But they had in fact impressed enough of them to gain approval, on the condition they would have other forces their to support if needed.

With Tech's intel and the extensive training Mathias placed on his team, they completed the mission without a single casualty, defeating a force easily three times the size of thier own without any support.

Their first mission was declared a rousing success, and since then Sierra 118 has been left to perform its operations their way. In that time they have performed just about every mission that could be thrown at them: Assault, Reconnaissance, Covert Infiltration, Hostage Rescue, Sabatoge, and many others. Quickly becoming the most respected units in the force.

Together with "Boomer", "Cutter" and "Tech", Mathias has decided that he will hold out for more members to join his squad, but for now the four of them perform their job just fine. They make an excellent team and are ready to take the fight where ever and when ever they're called upon.

Abilities:

Breathe control: From his years of training, and his species natural-born ability to hold their breath, Slick can keep steady control of his breathing when firing his rifle. This results in improved accuracy and also helps to keep him calm under fire.

Strengths:

Slick is a tough, veneralble soldier who has enormous faith in his teams ability to do their job quickly and effieciently. With years of training and combat experience under his belt, Slick is a calm, confident leader under fire. And because he places the safety of his team above the mission, he is highly respected by those under his command. Even some, not many, but some officers respect his commitment to his teams well being; especially when he showed them just how capable their team is even with only four offical members.

Weakness:

While trained in hand-hand combat, it is a Military style which typically focused on delivering singular devastating moves then other styles that use many weaker strikes to accomplish the same feat. In other words his fighting style is slower then average. He also relies heavily on his team for support, that said he's no push-over on his own, but his combat style is primarily based around teamwork. Unfortuantely the way he interacts with others has a tendency to cause others to feel uncomfortble and in some cases put them right off the idea of dealing with him.

[this section is also open for debate as i'm not sure whether you'll allow the two NPC's as combatants]

NPCs:

Private First Class Wallace "Boomer" Lawrence

Weapons: MP8 (SMG)
FlashBangs x3

Skills: Intermediate Rifleman

Age:27

Height: 3'-2"

Species: Grey Kangaroo

Hair: Brown

Colour: Light grey fur covering the majority of his body except for his underbelly and inner ears which are almost white.

Apperance: Wears the same style uniform as Mathias, but has more grenades strapped to his harness instead of ammo.

Personality/history:
Boomer, as he's known in the squad, is the teams grenidier. The way he got his callsign stems from several sources, all of which are have a humerous origin: first, Boomer is another word for kangaroo in Australia. But the biggest, most embarassing reason of all was how Mathias caught him taking a nap while on guard duty once and... well, you can fill in the rest.

His native home being South Island, Boomer has that distinct Australian accent like that found on earth. Contrary to most sterotypes, as the teams grenidier, he's hardly the sterotypical psychaotic that his job usually recieves and in fact is probably the most cautious and sociable member of the whole team. He takes his explosives very seriously and treats them with great respect.

Corporal Katelyne "Cutter" Delmont

Weapon: M8 Assault Rifle
Smoke Grenades x3

Skills: Intermediate Rifleman

Age: 30

Height: 3'

Species: German Shepard (female)

Hair: Black. Short-cut, but still has some bangs on the side of her face.

Colour: Light, tan coloured fur with black patches running across her back and the top of her tail.

Apperance: Again same uniform as the rest of the unit. She does however carry large satchals for carrying the extra ammo.

Personality/History:
Cutter, to her team mates, recieved her name for how she is decribed as cutting down the opposition with her automatic rifle. And yes, she is the only female in the team and also the only other survivor of the ambush that nearly eliminated the entire team besides "Slick" and "Boomer". This tough spitfire of a lady was raised in Station Square, and don't be fooled by her gruff exterior, she can be a real softie at heart... no honest... really, she can be a nice girl... right?

(Note: This last one is NOT to be considered one of my offical NPC's. I only have him listed here since he will be one of the regular GUN personel that Slick and his offical NPC's associate with.)

SPC Rico "Tech" Santiago

Age: 22

Height: 2'-9"

Species: Jaguar

Hair: Brown

Colour: Yellow with black spots all over his body.

Appearance: Unlike the rest of the unit he never sees actual combat. And as such he wears a standard GUN uniform which looks much more formal then the combat fatigues the rest of the squad wears.

Personality/History:

He's a kind of quiet individual normally, but when action starts to heat up he's feeding a rapid supply of info to his commander on the field. Sometimes he starts talking in spanish when he gets too excited, but normally he speaks flueant English. "Tech" as he's called is the teams intelligence gathering officer. His sole job is to research targets in advance of a mission and then feed live intelligence reports to the team in the field.

Not long after Sierra 118 was reformed, Tech was scooped up by Mathias for his impressive computer skills. Being the new guy in the group he at first felt intimidated by the original members, but has since become very comfortable around them and like the rest views them as his family.
