Nail saw the pirates approaching, so he'd already strapped the rifle over his back, and let a hand hover near the holster for his Glock 18. He didn't put a hand on it, because what were the odds these were real pirates?

Anyway, he nodded his head towards Jav, "Ask him. He's the genius mechanic. And, are you guys just headed to a costume party or something?"

Jav froze solid, his eyes trained on Olive. It was her...the sea demon from his vision. "it's her" James thought out loud. James' hand absent mindedly began sliding towards his pistol.

Olive let out a small sigh at Nail's costume party remark. For the love of Neptune, why did nobody ever take her seriously? She was a PIRATE, for crying out loud.

"Captain?"

It was Steve. He was whispering something to her.

"Captain, remember what that old woman said? 'The crimson one, born of the first race...' I think that redhead is the person she was talking about. Don't let your guard down."

"A pirate captain never lets her guard down," Olive whispered back. "Worry about yeself."

Then she turned her attention to Jav and Nail, not letting go of her cutlass's hilt, and readying herself to dodge the instant either of them tried to attack. "Do either of ye landlubbers know the whereabouts of a shiny talisman I might be able to find here at the lake?"

Nail blinked. Was it just him, or was this merry crew focusing their attention on Jav? Not to mention, Jav seemed to be looking awful hard, right back at the captain. Maybe the idea that fate was guiding them wasn't so farfetched after all? In any case, his hand was edging closer and closer to his gun.

In response to Olive's question, he responded with a nonchalant, "...No."

That tore it...the talismans..it WAS her. James quickly drew his side arm and trained it on olive as he began backing away to put distance between himself and the pirate. "I dont know who you are but at the same time I do. Those talismans are mine you hear me..mine" he said as he continued backing away.

At the same time, the Captain drew her cutlass and advanced towards Jav at roughly the same pace. That clinched it: this was the "crimson one". She drifted to the side, however, in an attempt to trap him against the lake.

"That's exactly what I should be sayin'. Tell me yer name."

This parrot was obviously their leader...and she'd advanced in front of her minions without asking for their backup. And even then she was completely ignoring him. So while she was focused on Jav, Nail drew his handgun, stepped behind Olive, and pointed his gun at her head. "That's far enough." And without looking away, he spoke to her minions. "And you guys don't try anything funny over there, or this gun might accidentally go off."

With Nail stepping in James pulled his rifle out and aimed it at her minions never taking his pistol off the parrot. "You fell right into my trap. You're not very experienced with combat, tactics, and such are you?" he asked calmly smiling. "well lil miss PIE-RAT" he started mockingly. "I'll have you know that I am the infamous Jav the wildest outlaw in the southern hemisphere and my friend there behind you is the one and only Nail. We are both extremely skilled in the art of combat..so please..no more tactical mistakes today aright? It'll get you killed among the likes of us" he finished.

Despite the double threat, Captain Olive remained perfectly calm. She'd stopped moving at Nail's threat, of course. Still, she quickly deduced Nail's approximate position from the amplitude and direction of his voice, and from his threat towards her crew she deduced that he was pointing a gun at her... probably at the center of her head, if he was fixing to kill her. That gave her a good idea of the gun's general location, as well as that of the hand(s) holding it.

Oh, and in case you didn't read my last post, Olive already had her cutlass drawn, and in melee combat she would have the advantage in arms. It would remain to be seen who would make the biggest "tactical mistake" of the day.

Without warning, and in less than half a second, Olive jinxed leftwards away from the business end of Nail's weapon, spun around, and aimed an overhand cutlass slice at Nail's gun hand (or both hands, if he was wielding it two-handed). As she did, she dropped to the ground in case Jav had decided to squeeze his trigger.

She would introduce herself properly after things had calmed down a little, not that that was likely to happen anytime soon at this rate.

However, Nail was equally speedy, and as soon as he saw Olive in motion he jumped backwards, evading the sword attack. Conveniently, she'd also dropped to the ground. That wouldn't be an easy position to move out of in a hurry. So, Nail took a giant step toward Olive with his left foot, and then with his right foot aimed a solid kick right at the center of Olive's mass.
