Jodie 2.5
|::Name::|
Jocelyne Takira |::Alias::| Jodie, Jocie, Jodster, Jodes |::Age::| Nineteen |::Height::| 3'2" |::Weight::| 49lbs. |::Sex::| Female |::Race::| Furry |::Species::| Grey Fox |::Alignment::| Chaotic Neutral |::Past occupations::| Student, Newspaper Columnist/Comic Artist |::Current occupation::| Unemployed |::Hobbies::|
|::Habits::|
Personality: Usually the optimist, it's hard for anything to pull Jodie down. At least not in the front of her friends. She hates tying other people down with misery and negativity, so she's always ready to put on a smile when need be. Frankly, it takes a lot to get her upset mainly because she hates feeling that way. Jodie remains a free-spirited individual through and through. Some might say she lives the Sonic way of life in the fact that she tries not to let things bother her. She loves to fool around despite being wreckless, she loves to have a good laugh constantly, and she really believes people can do whatever they want in life. It's safe to say that's only the tip of the iceberg though. On the other side of the coin, Jodie can take things seriously, although sometimes it's long past breaking point. She knows that the world doesn't revolve around her, but even so, she does forget sometimes. That's attributed to her teenager-at-heart immaturity, her insecurity with the real world, her rashness here and there, and her insensitivity and selfishness at times. She's still growing up and it shows. Under the weight of heavy circumstances, however, Jodie would be someone to take the trouble upon her shoulders. She hates seeing her friends suffer around her and would gladly take away any burden of theirs or come to their rescue if need be. However, Jodie's not one to play heroine. She's not up for running to the city for the purpose of saving lives of people she doesn't know for the sake of saving them. She can sometimes have a hard tendency to care about people she hasn't had the chance to know. |::Appearance::| ![]() Dark violet fur spans the majority of her body, accented by silver here and there. This is mainly on her muzzle, chest, inner ears, and tip of her tail. Aquamarine eyes pierce through her mangled and tangled looking black mop top. Blue and red dyed tips of hair halo her head. She stands at an average height for her species, albeit scrawny due her high metabolism. A majority of her wardrobe follows a ska influence. She's big on baggy clothes in dark hues, heavily black, blues, and greens. Most of her closet back home consisted of an assortment of oversized T-shirts, jeans, and hoodies. She likes living her life in comfort with a little bit of flare but not to the point of being overly showy. Her only pair of sneakers are some navy ones with jagged black designs on the outer side of each. Jodie doesn't typically wear any jewelry, but she did get her ears pierced just so she could wear the silver loops that she received from her foster parents as a gift. |::Residence::| Jylat [Formally Capitol City] |::Biological Family::| Rolante Oasis [Father, ??] Lania Takira [Mother, ??] The family Jodie never knew. She doesn't typically think of them or care whether or not she'll ever meet them for that matter. Jodie's content in the people she's found in her lifetime and wouldn't trade them for the world. |::Foster Family::| Matthew Coltin [Fifty-Six, deceased*] Riarios' father. Focused, diligent, and intelligent, Matthew was someone Jodie admired. Although closer to Rios, he still shared a bond with her that gradually grew over the time he had with her. He was last seen at the agency and is believed to have been killed in the terrorist attack pulled off by F4. Ariel ""[Mother, Fifty-Two, deceased] Rios' mother. Booksmart, kind, yet firm. She and Jodie were very close. If it weren't for her ambitions as a writer, Jodie might have become her apprentice and eventually found a role in the agency with her foster mother. Ariel was found dead under the debris of the collapsed office building. Riarios ""[Brother, Sixteen] Although they started out rough, Jodie and Rios quickly became close over the years. Jodie feels so akin to Riarios that she rarely thinks of him as a human until someone says something. Unfortunately, this has nearly led to Rios' demise in the past. Even so, these two are constantly looking out for each other. Dromar Kadin [Godfather, Thirty-Four] If Jodie would ever have dreamed of her real father, she'd hope he'd be just like Dromar. Her role model, Jodie does have a tendency to aim to please in his case, a rarity for her. Even so, she would never tell him this. It'd be far too embarrassing. Crosis ["Grandfather", Sixty-Three] Dromar's father and Jodie's obscene grandfather figure. From first glance, most think he's pretty flaky. He can talk up a storm and enjoys his high class life. Anyone would quickly conclude that he's very superficial. Behind this, however, lies almost a scholar. Crosis is ripe in his old age and knows more than he might sometimes let on. His aloofness just tends to throw a curve ball. Esmeralda ["Grandmother", Fifty-Eight] Dromar's mother. Voracious and outgoing, it's safe to say Essy has tended to scare away most critters half her size. She likes to over exaggerate things, mostly due to her profession as a former actress known as "The Great Esmeralda de'Flaunte". Despite this, she's very down to Earth, having a preference to normalcy when home. She dislikes dressing up and would rather be in the company of good friends, having long since ended her career. She also is noted for her heated temper. |::Most Prized Possession::| Her earrings which were the first gift she received from her foster parents. |::Background::| Life comes at you, bittersweet. Born in Capital City, Jodie was given up to an orphanage not long afterwards. She never found out the exact reason why, but some of the caretakers there believed it was because her mother was one of those teen pregnancy cases. Whatever the reason though, she lived out half her childhood years in the orphanage. No one would adopt her because of her wild, unpredictable attitude and love for pranks; even the kids tended to avoid her at best. Despite her behavior, the caretakers took pity on her, such cleverness being wasted on child's games. Thus, they sent her off to school. Jodie just took this as an opportunity to invent new pranks and hone her well versed ones. And now she had a bigger target audience to use them on. Of course, it wasn't to say Jodie didn't make friends and do well in school. She just still had a tendency to get into trouble. It was the mix of one bad egg and her own love of a joke that would get her kicked out of school. While Jodie gained some friendships, she wouldn't allow them to come visit her out of the embarrassment that she still lived in an orphanage. Unfortunately, one of her newly made friends, a robust cat, found it unheard of. This new friend began spreading rumors about Jodie and her parents. Eventually, Jodie confronted the problem with her usual stunt. But this time it was different for she'd never really done it in spite before. Unfortunately for her, Jodie was caught red-handed. Back at the orphanage, the caretakers were outraged by her behavior. While it was bright of her for the young age of ten, they thought that if she was so smart, she should have known better. As punishment, they removed her from school. Jodie slumped into a stage of depression. She missed seeing her friends. Her life returning to its old routine left her feeling trapped. In this slump though, she found herself building up a new talent. With her will for pulling pranks gone, she soon set to drawing. She was fairly good and a few of them even disappeared from her bedside and found themselves displayed in the main playroom. She never said anything to the caretakers. Just left them there for others to wonder who had drawn them. Most depicted her longing to leave the orphanage. A few weeks later, Jodie was in for a surprise. A human couple was interested in adopting her! She took the news in stride and soon met Matthew and Aria Coltin, who quickly took a liking to her. Before she knew it, Jodie was in a car headed to her new home. There, she met who was to be her little brother, Riarios. Unfortunately for Jodie, he wasn't too keen on furries and it showed in his actions. Her new parents tried to disguise his behavior, but Jodie knew better. Still, it didn't stop her from slipping into the fold of the family. She soon discovered that her adopted parents both worked at an agency to help relationships grow between the humans and furries. Although small, it seemed well established and Jodie tended to enjoy hearing about their successes. Unfortunately, Riarios wasn't one of them. He hated Jodie's guts. Whatever they went into together, he'd always be accusing her of something. He even ragged on his parents that they spoiled her. Jodie at first only pranked him in return, but it wasn't long until things exploded into a daily fist fight. Although she was scolded, her new parents figured it was just from living in the orphanage.They informed their caretaker, a komodo dragon named Dromar Kadin (the only "furry" Riarios seemed to trust), that it was the case for her actions. This battle between siblings would continue until Jodie proved to him that there was more to her than being a fur. On his way home from school, Rios was caught and surrounded by his usual bullies. As they were gearing to give him what for, Jodie appeared in a ripple of violet fur. After some fierce teamwork that left the three furs sprawling and the fox herself in awe over the sudden unleashing of a vortex of wind, the duo retreated home as quickly as possible. Not long afterwards, their parents arrived home earlier than usual. It seemed that word had gotten out about a fight and they'd been seen running from the scene by a local neighbor. While both explained their plight, Jodie soon realized that the reason Rios hated furs was because of the very bullies they had taken down. She didn't get the time to confront him about it. Finding out how damaged her right hand was, Jodie was taken to the hospital where they found she'd shattered a bone that probably would never fully heal. Fortunately for her, Rios had kept quiet about the wind incident, but her hand still had her disheartened. Still, life went on. Jodie kept her blues at bay by starting to focus more on school. She joined track. Just because her hand was no good to her now didn't mean her legs had given on her yet. Jodie wasn't the best runner at first, often being last or second to last. This would improve over the years with her placing second in the finals her senior year. Jodie also took on dance team in her high school days and later writing for the school newspaper. Though she made average marks at best all her grade school career, she was happy and that's all that mattered to her. Jodie didn't forget about her first experience back with Rios' bullies though, playing with the element out of curiosity whenever she was given the chance. And she still pulled a joke on some unlucky sap every so often. Least to say, she was growing out of it and it showed as those previously wary of her began to gather, although she'd still get into the occasional fist fight from time to time. Jodie would revisit the drawing world after her graduation. With her hand long since healed again, she decided perhaps it was time to put her skill back in use. Taking a job as a columnist the first chance she got, Jodie began to write for the local paper, producing political cartoons on the side. Within a year, her writing skills were recognized by Capitol Coverage and the vixen was soon dilligently working towards a promising new career under the guidance of the head columnist. Jodie sought support from her parents to help her move out into her own place. But good things never last. While working on her latest project, word came to her that her parent's agency had been attacked by a terrorist group. Jodie's foster mother was found dead, her father missing. A wave of misery washed over she and her brother. A funeral was held for all the victims, and having no other place to stay with Jodie's apartment plans falling through, Dromar took to their care, having gained the Coltin's home through their will. Weeks went by. Jodie stalled out, nearly losing her job in her slump of depression. Riarios was forced to become the responsible sibling for a time that seemed indefinite. The first signs of Jodie's relapse from sulking didn't occur until her meeting with the Strafers: Gail, AyeCaye, and Carrie. Albeit brief, the vixen was reawakened from her solemn slumber and forced herself out into the world again. Perhaps it was all due to the new information she came across from the old wolf though, finding out her foster parents had been killed by F4. Either or, Jodie set out bright and early the following morning to turn in a project, which quickly desolved into meeting Dan Dark; she hooked up the fellow fox with a job as a photographer, and hearing about the Fun 4 All Festival, decided it would be a good place to get a scoop. Their time spent at the festivities was enjoyable at first. They met Laurelle and Jodie reunited with her brother. It was at the comedy act that things fell apart with Rios going missing. Shortly after running into Dromar, the sound of explosions signaled the true misgivings of the festival, ending up with rescuing Riarios from a backlot. Meeting up with Dromar again, the group set off to get a bite to eat to get over the tensions of the day. But it seemed the festival had only been the very beginning of their troubles. The city's horizon suddenly darkened with the shadows of mammoth warships and they were forced to escape the city, Riarios being injured along the way. After making it to the safe haven of Station Square did Jodie decide to get a hold of Gail and Ayecaye to see if they were alright. Getting a hold of Gail, she quickly discovered that Ayecaye was still in immediate danger. This led to the meeting of Nail, a reunion with Jav, and an attempted rescue that turned out easier than they first thought. Unfortunately, their luck didn't last and Jav was swiftly forced into playing hero as he raced against an explosion that ripped Capitol City right off the map, Jodie and the others in tow. It was shortly after the group's departure from one another that Jodie suddenly fell ill and lost consciousness. She woke up several days later to find out that she was a victim of an incurable disease and would die in roughly a month. After stabilizing, Dromar had transferred Jodie to a hospital in Jylat, but the fact of the matter remained the same. Upon Jodie's condition seemingly improving, however, she was released and began living in the Kadin residence while Crosis, Esmeralda, Dromar, and even Riarios fuss over her constantly. Weeks went by and life became annoyingly slow and aggravating. Although her friends, Laurelle and Dan, had decided to stick around despite their own concerns, she couldn't help but be selfish due to the issues of her own. Jodie began to spend a lot of time away from everyone, despite her condition. This saw to her meeting with Links and Alindel. While they started out on the wrong foot, Jodie was surprised to find out through these new companions that everything wasn't completely over for her. She took to home with them only to confront a frustrated Dromar when she finally exposed her latent abilities which she'd been hiding from him up until then. This caused a argument between the two of them which left everyone in an awkward stall out as Dromar furiously left them. Still, things seemed to cool off in the household afterward. Dan, Laurelle, and Rios returned from shopping with a surprise visitor, Nail. Everyone save Alindel, Dromar, and Jodie gathered in the dining room for supper. But then, all of a sudden, a blackout occurred and an armed swat team broke into the mansion. Although Nail, Crosis, and Links did their best to fend them off, they were outnumbered and a sudden unexpected move from Links ended the fight in a shocking commotion! Where did those men come from? And what did they want with Links and Jodie? |::Weapons::| Her bare hands. |::Combat Style::| Jodie incorporates lots of improvisation, mixing dance moves she's learned with punches and kicks, accompanied by her speed. It's safe to say she's not the most competent fighter out there by far. If she were matched up with someone far more experienced or even double teamed by average fighters, she's more likely to try and find a method of escape. Otherwise, she gets by. Magic [Intermediate, Wind] Despite finding out about her ability to conjure wind later in her years, her natural attune to this skill has allowed her the buffer for the benefit of the doubt. In the past, she's incorporated it with her running skills and dance moves. While not the cheating type, there's no doubt that in her early, amateur times, she might have used it by accident to gain a lead. Currently, her potential has risen considerably due to the ions released in the Capitol City crisis infecting her body. Whether she uses this new capacity or not, however, is up to her to decide. |::Skills::| First Aid [Beginner ] Jodie can treat minor injuries like small cuts and bruises due to helping her brother or herself. Unfortunately, she doesn't have extensive knowledge past a bit of wrapping, basic cleansing, and band aids. Swift Run [Intermediate] While clumsy at times, she's exceptional at running due to her time on the track team. While she's no Sonic the Hedgehog, Jodie still prides herself in the fact that she can keep up and in many times beat any other runner she's come across. Arguably, she's lost some of this skill though due to her lack of activity as of recent. Dance Technique [Advanced] Want to get some tips? Jodie's probably the one to go to. She can pull off some fancy moves. This stems from her time on the dance team back in high school. She's known particular for breakdancing, hip hop, and other more modern dance, although she can also implement swing, the Charleston, salsa, chacha, etc. into her sequence of steps. Writer [Advanced] Having been a writer for the school paper a later a columnist for Capitol City Coverage under the guidance of a brilliant professional, it's safe to say that Jodie is well known for her penmanship as an artist to their craftsmanship. She knows how to sway the hearts of people, and given a few years, could have potentially worked her way up the ranks of the company. Of course, being unemployed from the incident also means she's out of a job with her only resume being what she saved in her portfolio. Artist [Beginner] Jodie's an amateur. She knows this well, but even so, she uses what skill she has. This often accompanies her own panel in the paper. |::Strengths::| + Runner's High Jodie is exceptionally swift. A lot of this is due to her consistent persistence on the track team. It kept her muscles well trained. + With Flare Jocelyne has a considerable amount of flexibility which comes from dance and track. + Independent Edge Jodie can leave it up to herself to get things accomplished as need be. This stems from her not wanting to be a burden to the people she cares for. |::Weaknesses::| - Less than you think you are. Jocelyne has little to gain with brute strength. Jodie's never really been a fighter. This vixen is content with what she can do, although it's safe to say that without this strength, it will take her physically longer to take someone down with her bare hands, if it's even possible. - Make it fast. Her stamina has gone under since the end of her days at track. If she's going to fight, she better beat whoever she's up against fast. - Burn Out However independent Jodie might be, taking all the burden upon herself eventually will cause cataclysmic break downs to occur every so often. In these bouts, she becomes virtually useless to those around her. She also has a tendency not to ask for help when she might really need it and that leads to these happening more frequently than with most people. |::NPCs::| |::Name::| Dromar Kadin |::Race::| Furry |::Species::| Komodo Dragon |::Age::| Thirty-Eight |::Appearance::| Dromar's dark sapphire scales make up the whole of his body; rough and razor sharp at the edges, they serve as a great defense against anyone. These are heavily contrasted by the orange hue of his eyes. His most distinct characteristic, however, lies in his height. Outgrowing even most humans, the only one he's met that's outdone him is his own father. Considering his size though, Dromar can't be too picky with clothing. Due to his broad shoulders, he's all but given up on tops of any sort. Thus, he tends to go for an assortment of cargo and carpenter pants. Most of them tend to be too short on his legs, but he's long since forgotten to care and only reminisces in his embarrassment when people point it out. |::Personality::| Kind, caring, and goofy may seem like three adjectives unlikely to describe a full grown komodo dragon, but Dromar takes them in stride. By far, he has one of the softest hearts of their family, his rare sternness being its only rival. Dromar enjoys the warmth and simple pleasures of life, straying from seriousness when he can. He dislikes standing still, often set to working in the garage or hanging out with his favorite kids. He's always enjoyed watching them ever since they were little and considered them family since long before the passing of his best friends, Matthew and Ariel. Throughout the years, Dromar's always had a tough time expressing sadness, since his outlet tends to be laughing things off and continuing on through with life. Being grown up and watching over Jodie and Rios, he feels like he has to be the father figure. The less tears of his own shed, the better. Anger, on the other hand, brings out a very different sort of Dromar. One of "mythologically" frightening, dragon-spewing-fire proportions. Dromar fears little save the loss of the lives of the kids he's raised and perhaps the loss of this parent figure role as Jodie reaches young adulthood. He also is known for his fear of magic, although the reasons why remain unclear. |::Relation to Character::| Dromar knew Matthew and Aria for several years before they began raising children, having met them when he came in to work for the agency. He quit soon after. The paperwork was just too boring for his tastes. Instead, he got caught up in garage work and trying to tune up his favorite ride, an old porshce he found at a junkyard and had fixed up by a friend. He later fell back into their lives when Rios was born and Jodie came along. At the time, he began his own business: a joke shop. Despite its lacking reception, he continued it throughout the years and it eventually became his full focus when Jodie became old enough to watch over her younger brother. By that time, things had finally settled between the two of them and Dromar was no longer needed. Still, he remained close to the family of four and when disaster struck and the family was torn apart, Dromar became the financial support of the two teens and Rios' guardian. Even though it's been a few years since the last time he's watched over them, he still feels like a father to the two. |::Skills::| Transport [Advanced] Dromar has been driving for a while now and would have no issue giving someone a quick lift. Unfortunately, at the moment, he has no means of personal transportation. |::Name::| Riarios Coltin |::Race::| Human |::Age::| Sixteen |::Appearance::| Young, scrawny, with sandy almost blond hair and brown eyes. Rios looks just like his mother although telling him that would annoy him to no end. He stands taller than his adoptive sister at 5'6" but that difference seems commonly forgotten after knowing Dromar. Rios doesn't have very much in terms of muscle and his skin remains chalky. His clothing usually consists of t-shirts, cargos, and jeans. Whatever he's wearing, it's not uncommon to see plenty of comic book or video game icons on them. Sometimes he'll wear a red hoodie over his shirt. |::Personality::| Rios has been and always will be a rather stubborn teenager. He likes to take his problems into his own hands and hates asking for help. It doesn't mean he won't take it, but in most cases he'll be a royal pain all through it. He's pretty diligent though when he wants to be, often finding himself captured in wanting to solve riddles and puzzles. Most of that energy is spent on video games and dwelling over what will happen in the next issue of OIRAM than anything else though. Despite his immediate impression, the bullies from childhood left a lasting aftereffect. Riarios remains very under confident about himself, becoming easily frightened in situations that would call for action and bravery. Dromar's guardianship only made him more dependent on others to shield his true fear. While he's working on it and tries to at least mask it if he can, it tends to bleed through quickly. He's most afraid of furries which is where a lot of his hatred of them also stems. |::Relation to Character::| Riarios might have grown up with a much less discriminatory attitude had he not been placed in an all-furs school which all in all finds irony in his parents' decision making. He would probably be worse if not for his caretaker, Dromar. Despite that, the relationship between he and Jodie as newly made step siblings would remain rocky at its best until she could have a chance to show him different. And she did years down the road, Rios finally recognizing her as part of the family when they worked together to fend off his tormentors. They grew close and then only closer when the accident happened over a month ago. Even with his relationship with Jodie and later with Dan, Laurelle, and Dromar's parents, Rios can't help but hold grudges very easily against furs due to his background. It's almost like it's been programmed into him and he'll be more than blunt at times about his thoughts if a fur looks at him the wrong way. He's working on it, but part of him just doesn't want to yet. |::Skills::| First Aid [Intermediate] Unlike his sister, Rios can treat injuries like small to medium-sized cuts, light burns, and bruises due to the fights he's gotten dragged into at the school. He does have some extensive knowledge past a bit of wrapping, basic cleansing, and band aids, but he wouldn't know how to treat something like a broken bone. Aside from making a temporary splint for it that usually breaks within twenty-four hours. |
