Lakeside Piracy
After a lengthy journey, the Swimming Devil pulled up to the coastline nearest Never Lake, which was still a good distance away. From there, they planned a course of action.

(Olive) "Division Seagull will accompany me to the lake. Everyone else, stay at the ship and keep her safe."
(Everyone) "Aye, aye, Captain!"

Their course of action planned, Captain Olive began the walk to Never Lake, accompanied by ten or twelve crewmen. Would the talisman turn up? Only time would tell...

RE: Lakeside Piracy
From the treeline ahead of the pirates came a human woman dressed in a white and tan cloak that obscured her face from view "Hold it there my friends...don't come any closer if you know what is good for you." she warned coming to a halt in the middle of a natural field covered with knee high grass. She was an older woman obviously, perhaps in her late 40's or early 50's. She had a presence about her that just sent chills up one's spine.

"I know what you seek and I'm warning you...you will find nothing in there but you'r deaths." she added coldly.

Olive and her crew stopped dead when the woman appeared. For a moment there was silence; Olive broke it by drawing her cutlass and pointing it at the stranger. The captain didn't seem the least bit affected by the woman's presence or her warning.

(Olive) "Oh, so ye think yer Madame Prophesy? We don't need to hear some half-baked warning from a random fortune-teller we encounter on our way. For all ye know we might just be here to see the lake and take pictures. So move it before I make ye walk the plank!"
(Mate) "Er, Captain, where is she going to walk the plank? We're on land."
(Olive) "I didn't ask for yer opinion, Steve, so keep yer mouth shut."

RE: Lakeside Piracy
The woman was silent a moment before continuing. "The talisman you have in your possession this very moment and the talisman you seek in these waters are cursed artifacts of a day long since past..an era of darkness...an age of fear. Within them lies the untold powers of a throne overturned. Great powers you are tampering with...great and terrible powers. It is said in prophecies that the darkness will return to plague the residents of this world once more." She paused a moment to allow that to sink in.

"In those final days...those final hours a war will wage between two mighty powers. On one side the crimson one, born of the first race, a son of liberty, the bearer of a lost cause. The other a warrior of Poseidon, born of the second race, demon of the sea, gate keeper of the era to be."

The woman raised her head bringing her face into view. "These be those final days I am afraid....these be those final hours the prophecies spoke of, the war is already begun. The darkness...even now it can be felt in the air..it is nearly upon us. Be warned demon of the sea...the crimson one...he will come for you with everything he has. He will not rest until you are...undone." she spat that last bit through her teeth with a fair dose of venom.

With that the woman turned and began to walk back into the forest "you have been warned...do as you will" she said before vanishing into the trees.

Olive listened intently. After the woman disappeared, she glanced at her mates.

(Olive) "Whaddya think she meant?"
(Steve) "I wrote it all down. She tells an interesting story."

The group formed a quick huddle to discuss the "warning" the woman had just given them. Obviously the demon of the sea was Olive herself, but what were the first and second races, and who was the crimson one?

(Olive) "Well, no landlubber becomes a pirate captain by runnin' away when danger comes about. Let's keep movin'."

Soon, the waters of Never Lake were visible in front of Olive. She surveyed the area with a telescope, hoping she could spot something of interest.

(Olive) "I don't get it. Where do we begin lookin'?"

She was right. Was the talisman in the water? Buried on the shore? Maybe someone in one of the surrounding villages had it? No indication had been given on any front.

"Grr... where's a treasure map when ye need one? We could be here all night!"

RE: Lakeside Piracy
(???) "If I may, Captain?"

Olive turned her head. One of her mates was holding something.

(Olive) "What be that, Johnny?"
(Johnny) "It's called a metal detector, Captain. It's used to detect metallic objects hidden in the ground. Let's scavenge the shoreline with this; we may get lucky."

So with Olive following closely behind, Johnny began to scan the area with his metal detector, hoping they'd turn up something valuable.

RE: Lakeside Piracy
Quite a few minutes later, Captain Olive strode slowly across the beachside behind Johnny, who was still sweeping the sand with his metal detector. So far they'd found some loose change, a paperclip or two, some discarded soda cans, and an old car key... but no talisman.

(Olive) "This be totally borin'! When are we gonna find some real treasure?"
(Johnny) "This takes a lot of patience, Captain. People don't just leave treasure lying all over the place."

The captain let out a loud sigh, hoping they'd turn up something of interest as soon as possible.

Olive glanced up. "Ah, shiver me timbers! There be someone over there!"

She was right. Carefully the pirate captain and her crew began to approach...

A good while later, a defeated Captain Olive and her men returned to their ship. Olive herself lay down on a bench while a medic tended to her wounds. The rest of the crew began to explain what happened.

In her mind, Olive was cursing that redhead and his lupine ally with every foul word she knew (and considering she was a pirate captain, it was quite a vocabulary). She would get them back. She would.
