RE: Living in the City
I felt some great relief when I saw the turtle get knocked away as he did. And as if my silent prayer had been answered he decided to change targets and deal with the faux deer. Now feeling reasonably secure for the moment, I switched my crossbow back into its bolt-action mode. Now that I had the high ground, and was not being harassed I could deal with these two meddlers in my preferred method. But with all the exertion of using my Stealth Shot and two Surge Shots in such a short period of time I knew from experience that I'd only have enough energy to be able to do one more of my specialized attacks. And that is why I switched back to my bolt-action mode. Sure, it reduced the number of shots, but the time taken to reload gave me added time to take greater aim.
I crouched down on the top of the aqueduct and pulled the charging lever of my crossbow back. I was just taking aim, when all too late, my ears shot straight up and to my left. I'd been too focused on taking my aim that I'd not been taking in full situational awareness. And now I paid for it. I hadn't noticed before, but there must have been some kind of maintenance ladder that could take someone from the roof top to the top of the aqueduct. (which is obviously how the pink hedgehog had gotten up here so darn fast) The hedgehogs hammer connected with all its force right across by back. Stars exploded in front of my eyes as the whole world seemed to go black for a moment. The force of the blow sent me flying off the aqueduct and the small tornado ensured I tumbled and flipped chaotically before I landed on the roof, flipping and rolling like some kind rag doll. When I finally stopped I started to regain some consciousness. I'd almost have preferred remaining out cold. My back was alive with pain, it hurt just to breathe. My left wrist ached, probably because of hitting it funny during the fall. I could see my right knee and elbows were all gashed up, all indicating I'd had very rough fall indeed. The world outside my body seemed to spin around me at a frantic pace. I couldn't remember where my prized crossbow was, or even what day it was, where I was... and that's when my body decided that was it. I had suffered to much trauma, my body went into shock and I blacked out, slumping uselessly to the cold roof top. [For now, don't worry about Chadin, he's out of the fight so keep things rolling without me for now.] |

RE: Living in the City
[Wow. That was fast.
![]() Also, Kitty. I think you got out of that move pretty well. If anything, I hope I didn't make you think I was forcing you into an undodgeable attack] Jack felt a surge of panic as the deer managed to squeeze off a shot, despite his best efforts. Quickly, he let his opponent go to step to the left in an attempt to dodge, his elongated arms flailing in the air for a moment, before snapping back to their normal length, looking as though nothing was abnormal about them. Thankfully, Huus aim was off, and Tutleys intervention may have resulted in the offending arrow straying from its path slightly. Thus, nothing vital was hit. Still, as Jack jumped to the side, the arrow managed to cut its way through the hedgehogs stomach, slicing a rather notable wound into him. As the arrow landed some distance off, Jack staggered back, blood dampening his newly torn shirt. His breathing grew heavier, partly out of pain, and partly in a burst of rage. Jack clenched his teeth together, Not noticing that, for a brief moment that left as quickly as it came, they had lengthened and sharpened into a set of gleaming fangs. The pain had sent a wake up call throughout his body, as his warrior instincts had finally managed to register, beyond all doubt, that he was threatened. The faint sound of a body crumbling under the impact of a large hammer, and the subsequent thud as it flopped onto the roof some distance away echoed in his ears. The sound of such violence further got his adrenaline going. One hand still over his stomach, Jack dove back to the right, planting his still-unharmed hand into the ground like a pivot. The goggle clad hedgehog spun on his extended arm to gain momentum as he aimed, sending a kick towards the deer, his leg extending to deliver this blow. This time, he wasn't aiming to directly hit the assassin. Instead, he aimed for the crossbow, hoping a powerful, if long ranged, kick was enough to remove it from his hands. Once disarmed, Jack would have the advantage in range, and would have little to worry about if he needed to approach his target for a more up close and personal beating. Yeah. He was mad. |

RE: Living in the City
((Okay, all clear... it's time to hit the boost button!))
((Holy cow, I just noticed that both Tutley and Jack have attacked me during the last turn. And with Chadin down, it'll only get worse from here if I don't find a way out! Here goes nothing...)) Huu jinxed back at the last moment possible to avoid Jack's kick, but he failed to notice Tutley's new position and subsequent attack. The spray of water caught him completely off guard, leaving him soaking wet and and stunned for a brief second or two. The first instinct that crossed Huu's mind was to look for the prankster who'd thrown that Bubble Barrage at him. The second was to keep his eyes on Jack so he wouldn't be caught off guard. He went with the former choice, turning to face whatever direction that splash of water had come from while relying on his ears to keep track of what Jack was doing. ((...never mind.)) |

RE: Living in the City
As the copy of Jacks techique wore off, Tut noticed a certain deer was sent flying off the floor over him, and covered his eyes as Chadin landed on the ground with a resounding thud. He looked up at Amy and gave a thumbs up as if to say, "Nice Shot!"
As the second buck which was drenching wet at the moment turned towards his general direction, the turtle pulled a hose out the side of his backpack, as it whirred to life with the sound of a powering up turbine Electricity crackled from the edge of the hose, as the turtle waved. "Good night.", were the turtles two simple words, as he quickly took aim wth his hose and fired a visible blast of yellow electricity with a power of roughly 200 volts at the wet foe. Spark Shotgun If this hit, or wound up remotly near the puddle of water under the buck resulting from the Bubble Barrage, the shock would knock him out cold, to say the least. He paid little attention to Jack's change in behavior, takeing it as a response to takeing a glanceing blow for the bolt. He seemed okay at the moment, so he chose to press his attack on his opponent, jumping down to the rooftop. As the chao finally came in sight of its owner, it cheered, and began flying in the direction of it's true owner. It soon froze though, as it took a look at the frenzied brown hedgehog below, with a question mark on it's head. Everyone's favorite hyperactive turtle from the future! RE: Living in the City
I stalled in astonishment as my strike hit clear and true. My target was sent hurtling several feet before landing hard on the roof. Clearly, that deer wouldn't be getting up any time soon. That's what he got for shooting me. I just about dropped my guard as I followed the chao with my gaze. That's when I did a double take. Cornered on the other side of the roof was another deer. In fact, it looked like the same one I'd just sent seeing stars.
Pausing no more than to gain a general idea of the situation at hand, I stormed over to cover Tutley and potentially Jack if there was anything he currently had up his sleeve. Sick of fighting as I was, I hoped this would end now. My arm was killing me. That deer would think twice about going up against three individuals if he knew what was good for him now that his companion was out cold. |

RE: Living in the City
Seeing his attack miss added just another pinch of frustration to an already angered Jack. He growled a bit in anger as his leg snapped back to normal. Knees shaking from the pain, Jack took two steps forward. He wasn't sure why so few injuries were so devastating to him, when in reality, his lack of stability stemmed from his aggression, and being far too willing to dig into it. He staggered forward, tired of fighting at a range that proved not to work. However, he was stopped in his tracks by yet another trick his turtle friend had in store.
When his burst of electricity was fired, Jack leaped back to get out of the way. He wasn't quite close enough to get in the way to begin with, but surprise had thrown him off balance. The pain of his injuries managed to take their toll, and the hedgehog lost his balance, landing on his rear. Jack clutched his bolt would, further agitated by the movement and stop, doing little more then watching this scene play out. At least, he would, if a familiar shade of pink and red hadn't come into view. Jack grunted in pain as he turned himself to face her, instinctively trying to see if she was still okay. "A-Amy? Are you okay?" |

RE: Living in the City
((Why is it that I always get caught on the losing side of every battle?))
Huu's eyes locked onto Tutley right as he was powering up his hose. When the electricity crackled, he could guess what was coming next. He jumped sideways and performed a dodge roll, hoping to get out of harm's way, but he was out of luck. As he was still dripping wet, he left a trail of water that allowed the electricity from the Spark Shotgun to skip from the puddle of the initial attack straight to him. Huu had barely gotten back to his feet when it got him. The shock quickly drained Huu's life force, and he fainted on the spot. Seconds later, his body reverted to its neutral form, and his crossbow and ammo dematerialized as well. ((I swear there was practically no way to avoid that.)) |

RE: Living in the City
The turtle's backpack gave a loud whine as it powered down, having trouble maintaining its systems with the large amount of power zapped from it. It slumped back a little with a loud hiss, and then began whirring softly. As it entered recharge mode, the turtle wiped his forehead. "That...went better than I thought!", he said with a happy, yet exausted pant. As he walked over to check the damage the shock had made, the unconcious buck poofed, getting replacd by some other animal. "Huh...he was a doppleganger....", he said quite surprised. on his planet, that was a rather rare ability.
But there were other things to worry about. He motioned Jack and Amy to come over, seeing their odvious plights. Amy took a blow to the shoulder. That was easily healable. Jack however had some internal bleeding from what he saw...which worried the turtle quite a bit. As he waited for them to get a little closer, he tried keeping up a smile up. After all, one simple sentance was drilled into his mind by his mother, the day he left for the Time Agent training camp. "The hard times are the ones you smile at the most." The battle was over, and although the wounds looked rather serious on Jack, they wernt fatal. The next thing to do was get medical help, and then send these two crooks downtown. Pulling out his laptop, he plugged a side unit into it. It was a video phone. In a few moments, his comp was up and running, and he extended a antenna on it three feet into the air. He made his call for paramedics first...he hoped the added reception and height of broadcast would break through the fog of transmission. The turtles chao returned to normal, and landed on Jack's head, patting it to calm him down as it looked on. Most chao would be horrified at the sight of so much blood, but this one had experianced a fair amount of hardships with the turtle, and it grew to tolerate the sight. [IT'S A TRAP! And I saw a way or two out. Sorry if I made it seem a bit...unavoidable. Nice fight Kitty. ] Everyone's favorite hyperactive turtle from the future! RE: Living in the City
[Sorry to break post order, but circumstances demand me to post now.]
Despite Tutley's hi-tech hardware and his best efforts, for whatever reason, he just couldn't seem to get any signal through. All he could see or hear was static, even on the radio frequencies. [Carry of for now folks, I'll pop back in when the time is right. And as for you Kitty, sorry but this was never a battle I intended to win, you just got yourself caught up in it. But don't worry, there's a consolation prize for you in all of this.] |
