RE: Living in the City
(Oh for pete's sake... *pulls out the edit hammer* )
As Cutter introduced them, the turtle gave a slight bow, and a nod. He turned towards Jack, and held out his hand. "How have ya been Jack? Well...how have you been before the sidewalk and you got aquanted, that is?", he asked with a smile. Tutley himself paid the fly little attention; after all, he had something perched on his head every five seconds. The chao however, stared at the fly curiously as it circled around. When it landed on Tutley's head, he tried to give it a curious poke, its antenna showing it's curiousity in the form of a question mark. Everyone's favorite hyperactive turtle from the future! RE: Living in the City
((Things are a tad rough right now, so this post might sound a little odd.))
Jacks brief introduction was met with a nonchalant wave and a soft smile. He didn't have much experience with being introduced like this. Of course, the idea that someone like Cutter had children was still rattling around in the back of his head. Still, he managed a soft "Good to meet you both", along with a "And it's good to see you again." directed to Cutter. "How have ya been Jack? Well...how have you been before the sidewalk and you got aquanted, that is?" Jack couldn't help but give the turtle a smirk at that little comment. "Eh. Not bad. Things have been a little quiet since I got home. A little too quiet, actually. Part of the reason I'm out here." Jack stretches his back idly, a little stiff from all the lounging around. Slamming into the ground didn't help. Good thing, of course, it was a good thing that when Jack stretched, he really stretched. "What about you, Tut? What have you been up to?" He decided it best NOT to bring up his current poverty, lack of a way to make much needed rings, the fact that there's a very large landlord back at home looking to skin him alive, or that if he has to watch another episode of Friends he might go insane. |

RE: Living in the City
WHOA!
The fly that was Huu managed to take off just in time to avoid getting touched by the Chao that he'd gotten the attention of. And by the looks of things, that Chao was the only thing he'd gotten the attention of so far. Hmm... maybe if I... After circling a bit more, Huu landed in the middle of Tutley's face, about where his beak began. Let's see if this works. |

RE: Living in the City
I couldn't help but blush as I heard Sara's comment.
"Aw! Why, thank you! You're a cutsy, yourself!" I turned my focus to Josh. "And I don't always wear red, silly! I like to wear other colors, too. Don't you?" Looking up at Cutter, I smiled a mile wide. She really had some nice kids. But I shouldn't have been surprised. Judging from how she acted back when I'd first met her, no doubt this German shepherd knew how to mean business and keep them in line. I was about to say something to her when I realized she had mentioned Josh's birthday, so I turned my attention back to him. "Oh, hey! Happy birthday! What age are you turning today?" |

RE: Living in the City
"I'm turning eight today!" Josh exclaimed excitedly and also, quite loudly. But, I just rolled my eyes and let him carry on telling them about all the things he's going to do with his new bike. Far be it for me to quash his excitement considering he had every right to be.
Unknown to everyone down below, but they were being watched. And furthermore this unknown stranger had foul deeds in mind for one of the people in the crowd and the will to carry those deeds out. After letting my children mingle with the others, I knelt down and asked them to go wait for me by one of the trees along the sidewalk, deliberately away from the rest of the group. "Amy, I probably should be going right away, but I just wanted to let you and the boys here know something first." I sighted... this wasn't an easy thing to ask, and I know that telling them this would probably ruin their day.. but I just had to get this off my chest. If for no other then a faint hope that maybe if someone else knew it might make everything all better. "Slick... lost his parents during the battle in Capitol City... And, he's taking it really hard... He's not willing to talk to me, or Boomer about it... I'm worried if he doesn't get over this its going to get him hurt... or worse. He probably wouldn't talk about it with Tutley or Jack, no offense guys, but... well, we never really got to know you guys very well, but Amy, he seemed to have a lot of respect for you; maybe if you ever happen to be in the neighborhood... I don't know, maybe you could talk with him?" |

RE: Living in the City
After watching the bit of back and forth, Del finally took notice to the rather pink one in the group. Recognizing her to be the somewhat of a famous figure was enough to give him the drive to cross the street to close some distance on the group. He didn't say anything, but he was close enough to overhear conversation at this point.

RE: Living in the City
"Well....as for mysel-", the turtle was about to reply, when the univited insect landed dead on his beak. Annoyed, the turtle raised his right hand slowly, about to bring it down on the fly. Without another moments thought, he swiftly lowered his hand.

RE: Living in the City
[Three day absence rule~]
I couldn't help but be all smiles as the little squirt rambled on and on about his pending gift. A part of me wondered if I'd been able to speak gibberese as fluent as he. Half the time I couldn't understand him, but I remained attentive, nodding here and there. By the end, I was quite proud of myself. I really wouldn't have had such patience a few years ago. Cutter had served as the interruption, sending the duo of children away for a moment before turning her attention back to us. Now, I was concerned. Quote:"Amy, I probably should be going right away, but I just wanted to let you and the boys here know something first. I stared at Cutter for what seemed like the longest time. I think the shock would have stayed with me had my brain not caught up with my breath. Or lack there of. I'd been holding it in the entire span. I knew all along that people, furry and human alike, had lost loved ones, homes, and more. I was used to hearing about tragedies of that sort. Hanging around Sonic, I'd seen it firsthand in a lot of cases. I guess what caught me most like a deer in the headlights was how hard to home it hit. Save perhaps Shadow, I'd never known anyone who personally had suffered from a crisis. But Slick's parents. My higher up. My comrade. My... well, friend. "That's... That's terrible! I'll make sure I get a hold of him! He's not still on duty, is he?" I relapsed back into a more comfortable stance, but my eyes remained wide. I always had known Slick to be a lot more level headed than I ever was. Yet, tragedies like this... The effect could be substantial, overriding common sense. Overriding Slick's usually focused demeanor... The results? I could think nothing but disaster. |
