Crosis shook his head.

"I'm sorry to hear that. Taking on the responsibility of a child is one of the best things you can do in life. I can't blame her for being upset, although... You know. You could always adopt. Of course, I don't know how she would take to that. However painful the run of pregnancy is, it's a big step. Ah-haha. It was for Esmeralda at least. Despite bouts of sickness here and there, she liked the idea of carrying and boring her child-

"Oh, that's right. You could also try a surrogate donor, too. Not sure how much that would comfort you though-a little pricey, too- but you know. I don't think Esmeralda and I would mind giving a little benefit of charity. Oh, but I'm rambling again. Hahaha."

"Thank you for your concern...it is still something we are working on to be truthful. Since we found out Alindel has hardly spoke of it but I can tell she is upset. Adoption is a possibility but Alindel has always said that she had wanted to raise a child from birth...and she has already flaty refused a donor...I would imagine it is due to her previous experiences but she would have to tell you about that herself."

Links gave a small shake of his head, "To be truthful it saddens me that I cant provide her with what she wants, she has given so much to me and asked for so little in return. Sometimes my gift feels more like a curse."

"You know, everything has its fruits and follies. Being what I am, it's not as easy for me to hurt myself. I've got this good old hide to back me. But put me in a region too hot or too cold and I would laze my days away. I'm just not built for temperature extremes. The same applies to your own gift.

"You have something that so many dream of and so few grasp. Something you can use as an upper hand to protect those you love. Claws and teeth can only go so far, you know? Although it has put you in this dilemma, don't be discouraged. I'm sure through talking with her, you will come to an agreement. It wasn't as if you were hiding this from her, although if she has taken it that way, I'm sure that's not helping current problems. I wouldn't know though seeing as I don't know her well myself.

"This does beg the question though. If Jodie will have the same fate as you. Or anyone else with magical potency."

Links simply nodded in response to Crosis' statement. He knew very well not to despair, he had done enough of that during his earlier years. This matter was simply one that had not been worked to completion yet and didn't seem to have a good solution. Still it had been some time since they gad last spoke of it, maybe it was time to talk about it again?

He shook himself from his thoughts as Crosis continued. Links absently scratched his chin. "It is hard to tell a this stage. In my experience I have seen magic with and without side effects to a varying degree. We will simply have to wait and see what becomes of her. Although I will keep my eyes peeled to try and spot anything if they occur."

Nail strode up to the house that Laurelle had indicated. "Is this the place?" What a grand place it was. The house was positively HUGE...not to mention the surrounding gardens and the THREE CAR GARAGE. It looked like something right out of a postcard.

But to be honest this kind of reminded him of something you saw in the movies... The characters get presented with something really really nice, and the movie makes it look like they're about to receive this thing. But then someone taps the characters on the shoulder. "Sorry, that nice thing isn't it," he says. "That's yours." And then he points at something much much worse. So...in this case the thing was a luxurious mansion with a beautifully tended garden. Thus Nail expected someone to tap him on the shoulder and point at a shack made of rotting wood, rusted metal, and exposed nails sticking out of the ceiling.

True, this was real life, but it felt unsettlingly familiar to this trope he'd seen in so many movies, books, and TV shows.

[Since Lynx is absent, if you all don't mind, we will be avoiding Links, Crosis, Alindel, and Dromar for the time being (they're kind of far enough away that the group won't bump into them anyway). It'll just keep us rolling for the time being.]

"Yeah, I didn't believe it myself two weeks ago. Dromar never told us a lot about his family. It was a surprise. That's all I can say."

Rios started up the walkway with care. He knew Laurelle hadn't exactly been pleased with his earlier antics and so he had been taking it easy on the way back. That and his ankles were starting to sting pretty badly. Healing hurt like a @#$%&. As he made it to the door, he gestured to Dan, his eyes slightly downcast.

"Hey, would you get that for me?"

Laurelle watched the boy inside, noting his slightly changed gait. Must be hurting then.

Allowing him time to prepare for their session, she dropped off the shopping bags, greeting Esmerelda, and warning her about the unexpected arrival. As her host busied herself preparing drinks to take in for the shoppers, Laurelle runs upstairs to the room she is staying in, and fixes up a bag of what she needs, picking up some fresh bandages and towels and the like. Returning downstairs a few moments later, she stops by the door to the room where the others are.

"Rios, when you're ready. I'm going to go get set up. "

She head into a small, airy, quiet room on the ground floor which the homeowners have allocated as her workroom. Setting the couch that they've borrowed from a friend to a height that Rios will be able to sit on easily, and spreading clean towels out to cushion his aching limbs, she prepares both the room and herself for the task ahead. She pours some lavender oil into a burner, and slowly the room starts to flood with the comforting, warming scent of flowers. Placing a tiny vial of a very special oil next to the burner, a potent soporific to calm and relax Rios' muscles, to take away even more pain than her bubble of focus can, she sits down on the floor to await his arrival, just like every afternoon. Relaxing into her own clear space inside her head, and inhaling the wonderful scent, she's mentally preparing, and once in this state will sit for hours lost or wake at the slightest touch or sound.

Holy ****.

This was getting stranger by the minute. Nail never expected to meet someone like a komodo dragon in here...especially one wearing a sunny dress. He just had to stop and stare at Esmeralda for a moment, before he faintly raised his hand and said "Hello."

It would sound a bit shaky to everyone else in the room. Nail had never actually met Rios's adoptive father, or his family, so this turn of events had come as a total surprise to him.
