RE: Jylat - Starting Over
The two soldiers who had stalled back in the hallway regained their focus. Deciding the others had the situation covered in the dining room, they backtracked a bit. One of them muttered something into a radio. They started further down the hallway.

Meanwhile, back in the dining room, the soldier who had lost his gun punched the other in the shoulder.

"What are you doing? Do you want to blow this mission?"

"Aw, stop being a pansy. That animal will live. Now, give me a hand." With most of their targets downed, the soldiers made a clean beeline towards Links and Esmeralda. The one who still shouldered his rifle kept it pointed at Esmeralda. "Any movement and I'll shoot you 'til your insides boil, ya damned lizard."

The other soldier pulled out a case and from there a syringe. He quickly made to jab it into Links.

The soldier who had been stuck under his comrade finally crawled out from underneath him now that the situation seemed to be under control. He shoved the body to the side as best he could before finally pulling himself away. He retrieved his rifle which had been briefly resting on the floor and made to stand.

Esmeralda growled feebly as the two soldiers approached them. As the situation was though, she couldn't do much of anything.

'I doubt those threats were empty... but what do they want with us? What's going to happen now?'

Links was still very much out of it. Even if his magic had subsided for the moment he was still exhausted. He simply lay where he was, completely oblivious of the soldier next to him until the needle penetrated his skin causing him to give a small yelp. He looked up weakly, focussing as best he could on Esma. "Ooooooh, my head...what was...?"

RE: Jylat - Starting Over
I thought they said they were after me...

Nail listened as hard as he could. Sounded like they were collecting everyone who was with him in the living room. Perhaps they were detaining them as witnesses. In any case, Nail did not want to let these guys, whoever they were, take them.

He switched off the flashlight on his P90...softly walking towards the living room's entryway into the front hall. He saw the backs of two soldiers, their profiles outlined occasionally by their flashlights. He pulled back into the living room, retreating into the darkness.

By this time, his eyes had adjusted to the dark. And since he had natural night vision thanks to his heritage, he could see just enough to move around without the flashlight.

I'm not going to be able to take all of them. I really doubt it's just the guys in that living room. And it won't do anyone any good if I get captured too. I suppose the best I can do now is find out who they are, so I can find them later.

Nail's first thought was they surely didn't walk here, so that meant they would have had to come in vehicles. And hopefully, their vehicles would have plates or something on them. If he got some numbers, he could probably find out who they were registered to with a little bit of digging...

But first he'd have to get out of the house. Fortunately, the house seemed to have a lot of big picture windows. So, he quietly walked over to a window over the couch, looking outside to see if the soldiers had any friends out there...

RE: Jylat - Starting Over
[Sorry, tried to make a post earlier but the net crapped out and I lost connection at the time. Then I left for the lake where I have no net.]

The sedative the guards injected Links with would soon leave him out cold. And with that assurance in mind the guards quickly sorted him for transport. In other words tying him up.

While two guards tended to Links, the other two began pulling out small bags and spraying the contents into the faces of the other inhabitants of the room. However, while most were busy doing that, the one guard watching over Esmeralda hadn't noticed Laurelle. If ever there was a time to make a dash for freedom this would be it. Otherwise she'd be forced to find out what it was that the strangers were dumping into everyone's faces too.

Outside in the hall the men upstairs came back down carrying Jodie in their midst.

Meanwhile, outside, the guard who got flung through the window picked himself off the ground and retrieved his weapon where it had landed. After placing an ear to the radio in his ear, he replied to the call from the two men inside the hallway that called him in a voice inaudible to anyone inside the house.

He started to walk back towards the house to rejoin his comrades when something in the window caught his eye. The shine from Nail's reflective eyes. Knowing that none of his team were furs and that one person escaped the original firefight, the man fired wildly at the window. The shots however were wild and far from well aimed.

Dull blue laser beams lanced through the window, shattering it into millions of pieces. The two guards in the hall quickly spun around at sound and trampled madly down the hallway to investigate. The men carrying Jodie hastened their own departure lest their cargo be lost.

RE: Jylat - Starting Over
Laurelle notices the lack of fighting belatedly, sunk deep into trance, and partially surfaces to realise that the fight seems lost. Knowing she can't do anything here to help, she decides to rush herself into the deepest trance-state she knows, and try to cover as many of her friends as possible, until the strangers set them all down somewhere, hopefully together, where she can use her awareness to guess some way of escape until the others come round.
