RE: Jylat - Starting Over
Links' hand was already up and pointing towards the other soldiers as they opened fire. The darkness of the room suddenly lit up with a spectrum of colour, glinting like a rainbow. A change in space passed across the air, the twisting mass of colours solidifying as the lasers screamed towards the aging fox. As they met the colours there was a bright flash of light as each one splintered into pieces like a sheet of ice.
[Elemental Screen - Current Charge 3/10] Links was already turning towards the men as a sudden and strong surge hit him like a todal wave. A strong magic source, wild and uncontrolled...it was just like his first burst of magic...the one that had killed his brother. JODIE! The lines of colour that flashed across Links' fur gave a sharp pulse, his body responding to the pulse before his mind could control it. By the time his mind had regained its position it was already too late...the spell was cast. Wide eyed and helpless to stop it now Links could only shout a warning, "...GET DOWN!" The wind picked up like a hurricane, lifting objects and furniture from the surroundings and hurling them around the room. A moment later a static flash filled the air, water quickly joining the gusts of wind as well. The spell grew in intensity, the room filling with the sound of lightning and the crash of thunder and furniture being hurled off the walls. [Force 9 - Current Charge -2/10] "No, not again...why now?" As if hit by a bolt of lightning himself Links collapsed to his knees. His paws shook, his body twitching and his eyes shut tight as a growing expression of pain spread across his face. A moment later he collapsed to his side and clutched his head. |

RE: Jylat - Starting Over
"What in the-"
The china closet behind Crosis disrupted his thought process. At Links' unwilling command, compelling it to shudder and creak, a weak foot had snapped at the bottom and it now found itself plummeting down towards him, Esmeralda, and Links. Crosis siezed the first thing he could, the glass doors, and held on tight. Some of the cabinet doors fell open and china and porcelain, cups, plates, saucers, and all, rained onto the floor. Drawers rolled open. The glass he held onto crackled, splintered, and finally shattered, his clawed hands slipping through the jagged aftermath and onto the solid oak back. His hands were bloody and his knees felt like they were going to bend backwards. Esmeralda got to her knees despite the debris flying everywhere. One of the chairs had just flown over her head a second time, but she didn't mind it for the moment. The gusts were especially strong near Links, but she was a stubborn dragon and the extra weight on her gave her more of a foothold than most of the group in the room. She wrapped her arms around him and rolled them over and out of the way of the china closet. The wind's sudden surge combined with her contact with Links though lifted her unexpectedly in the process and sought them both flying across the room and smashing hard against a far wall. As dazed as Rios was, he caught on to the wind picking up. Before Laurelle could do or say anything, he hugged the bushbaby. The table above them took off into the air just then, one of its legs giving him a solid wack in the back of the head. His grip loosened on her as the table was sent hurtling across the room. |

RE: Jylat - Starting Over
Fighting to catch her breath, Laurelle loses her grip on most things, the aura and her wits and temporarily knocked out of her as Rios' body crashes down over her own. When the fog begins to clear, she takes in the magnitude of his action and her eyes mist up with tears. Careful not to attract too much attention she starts to feel his body gently and slowly, looking for broken bones. Once this preliminary examination is over she refocuses herself in the calming, pain relief trance, and fights to hold it, despite her palpable sense of very real danger.
There's no way she can treat any of his wounds now, or really do more than register that others are suffering as well. Her training was one thing, this real life crisis is quite another... There are no other staff, no safe passage for medics, no clean hospital facilities... |

RE: Jylat - Starting Over
[Do these flashes of light penetrate well through hard substances? If yes, I'll edit my post.
Secondly, Jodie...is there a door leading into the living room from the kitchen?] As soon as the man jerked his flashlight towards Nail, he slammed the kitchen door closed in front of him. The flashes of light hit the door and stopped there. Although now the kitchen was totally black from lack of light, so Nail activated the flashlight on his pistol. The door looked like it was rumbling from the force of Links' spell. Nail didn't think it was going to hold much longer, so he figured he had to get out of there. They ARE after me... There was the back door, but Nail didn't feel good about running outside. They probably had a perimeter set up, and he didn't want to try to break through it until he had time to better assess the situation. So, he sprinted for the door leading for the living room. Besides, maybe he could flank the soldiers from behind if he ran this way. |

[I don't know if Chadin is around anymore. I think he's on vacation. My guess is that they would probably leave a dent though at the very least (I always thought of lasers as being painfully hot, but that's just me.
Yes, there's a door leading to the living room.] |

RE: Jylat - Starting Over
[Taking on soldier control to keep things rolling.]
One of the soldiers who had shot at Links only had time to gape before the gusts picked up unexpectedly. He was sent flying out of the large window facing the house's front side. The other was not so lucky. A large decorative chest splintered through a couple of the flying chairs before crushing the second soldier against the wall not far off from where Links and Esmeralda now lay. Two of the four soldiers who had crashed the party in the dining room made for a hasty retreat back into the hallway as things began to go haywire, compliments of Links. One of the other two was not so lucky and lost grip of his weapon which was soon hauled out of the window like his previous comrade. The other took a quick knee, aimed, and fired at Crosis. The soldier laying under the dead was the most fortunate out of all his teammates in the room. He took this opportunity to aim at Links roughly and fired. It was a hard shot though with Esmeralda in much of the way. [Gods, that's a lot of soldiers. @@;] |

RE: Jylat - Starting Over
Links didn't move from his position on the ground. Even as the soldier shot at him he couldn't even bring himself to move an inch. The shot might have been a hard one but it still hit, skimming across his leg and slicing a hole clean through his trousers and cape. The pain was a brief burst of needles...although given the pain he was already in the shot did little to incapitate him further.
He grit his teeth and shut his eyes; trying to push the pain out of his mind. As he did a faint glow lit the room as the lines of colour in his fur went white. A moment later a few streaks of white light shot from various corners of the room; converging on Links and sinking into his fur. [Action: Charge: Current Charge Level 0/10] |

RE: Jylat - Starting Over
Crosis had been on the verge of escaping the china closet when the shot hit him. Combined from the shock of his injuries, he lost grip on the top heavy piece of furniture. It gave way, falling over top of him.
"Crosis..!" Esmeralda rasped under the weight of Links. Her back was burning and her eyes shortly followed suit. The air was slowly starting to clear; furniture tumbled to the ground as the gust died off. She tried to move only to cringe from the pain that slipped down her spine. [Assume Rios is out like a light.] |

RE: Jylat - Starting Over
When she finds that she's not rousing Rios and that he seems unhurt enough for her to move him, the bushbaby starts to edge his body over, off the top of her, still keeping most of her mind focussed on keeping herself and him as calm and as positive as possible. This just needs to be over and she will get right onto helping everyone else, it's the mantra she repeats to herself as she excrutiatingly slowly eases the child over.

RE: Jylat - Starting Over
Nail pushed open the kitchen door to the living room, Five seveN going through the opening first in case the soldiers were here too. There didn't seem to be any in the living room. And it didn't sound like he was being pursued, because there were no footsteps behind him. He gently closed the door behind himself, before holstering his Five seveN and swapping to his P90. This too had a flashlight, so he turned it on.
Now he felt whole. The P90 used the same armor piercing ammunition, but it had 50 shots and full automatic fire. Smiling thinly, he softly stepped through the living room towards the front hallway. It sounded like there were footsteps entering the hall, so he stopped and cupped his hand over the light. |
