Busy until end of Feb 2009
(This is Nail)
On Feb 19, 2009, we'll be rolling out a new computer system. And since we're getting close to zero hour at work, everyone's been running around like a maniac trying to finish things before looming deadlines. That includes me. I can still post from time to time. Just expect me to be generally busy between now and the end of February, and generally not as active here. I'll be working late and working on weekends...and then too tired to do much afterwards. |

Good luck man, I know deadlines are a killer. "Don't just sit there and waste your precious time. When you want to do something, do it right away. Do it when you can. It's the only way to live a life without regrets." — Sonic 1 Japanese Tagline. |

RE: Busy until end of Feb 2009
All right...we're entering the home stretch. About five more weeks of this, but it's definitely going to get more and more intense the further we go. It's getting to be normal for me to stay half an hour to over an hour after work every day.
If you talk to me and I sound really irritable, my job is probably to blame. Please don't take it personal and let me know if I need to chill out. I don't think my job is as hard as college was, but this is definitely the most responsibility I've ever been saddled with in my life and well...my coping mechanism is (often without thinking about it) to release my stress through anger. Don't worry too much about me though. Come March, the rollout will be done, and I'm probably going to use that big pile of overtime I've been building up to take a day or two off. I'll be in a much much better mood too. |

RE: Busy until end of Feb 2009
Well, the computer system rollout's done, but I'm still not out of the woods yet. We're going to be spending four weeks working with the users...showing them how the system works and getting rid of bugs that we missed before. The worst thing is that there's a status meeting at the end of the day at 5:15 and it's normal for that to stretch past an hour and beyond. Then I need to take care of all the work that piled up that day...because I was too busy working with the other users.
So, I'm expecting to not get to go home till after 7pm or later. As usual...don't expect to see me around on any IM programs. I'll just be too damn tired to fuss with it when I'm getting home this late at night. My god...I've already got the maximum amount of 40 hours of vacation time (thanks to my overtime converting to vacation time), and yet I've still got 23 hours of bonus time. |
