A Friendly Visit

RE: A Friendly Visit
Roberta jumped a bit. She couldn't tell Maddock about her rendezvous with Shadow a few days back; that would reveal too much about her true identity. Instead, she quickly brushed the topic aside.

"N... nothing about Shadow. I just wasn't thinking. As for my transfer, it happened just a few days after the Crescent Imperium's invasion two weeks back. Thing is, they didn't really give a good reason for it; they just said that they were relocating me to GUN's desert outpost because they'd decided I would be more valuable to them there. It's due south of here, by the way."

Maddock didn't like it when someone avoided one of his questions, but he wouldn't push it... for now.

*She's hiding something form you.../Yeah. I know.*

"South of here? What do they have you doing there? Can't be to exciting can it?"

Maddock leaned back some in his chair and acted like the he hadn't noticed the pause in Roberta's answer.

RE: A Friendly Visit
Roberta's professional air was back now, although she wondered whether or not Maddock was on to her.

"No, it's not. The Crescent Imperium skipped over the desert completely, probably because it didn't contain many resources they could use. That means the outpost is in better shape than any of our other establishments, so we've been exporting some of our excess supplies to the locations that are worse off. I'm part of the team in charge of that. It's not exactly a fitting job for a lieutenant, but I don't argue with the higher-ups."
